Thanks so much for your video, I have this problem in a small area. This will sure help. Do you have lupus, or have you ever been tested. My mother has lupas, on her face se has the same mark in the same place. It's known as the butter fly mask, I think thats what its called. But its common with women who have lupus. I live in AZ as well it is very hot here, Your a very pretty women. Don't focus on the spots focus on the beauty. I too feel like people are looking at my spot. As well,Thanks again
Thank you for showing what you use. I am going to be 54 next month and have had melasma for 9 years and I cant seem to find anything to put on it so it wont look so caked on or know with who to go to to have it checked out. can you by chance send me the names of the products you use and where you purchased them from. I live in California and I have always stayed out of sun. But now that I work its a bit difficult...Thank You again eaguillen
Keep making videos, you are very pleasant to watch.
I have lots of skin issues being hyper pigmentation, hypo pigmentation, and scarring. I also get the IPL, fractional laser resurfacing with photo facials in between. My skin issues were caused by a chemical peel I had received from my dermatologist about 2 years ago.
I am 28 and have had this problem for about 5 years with the worst of it the past 2 years. I just went to to dermatologist for the first time today and found out what it was called. I think it's great that people share information this way. Thank you for this video. I have been wearing pounds of make up to cover, but yours looks very natural. I'm excited to get on a new journey to making my skin better! :)
hello, i just saw your video today , and i really wanted to share that with you guys..
i think its worth i try if u tried everything.. i love his channel.. here is the link, he says that there is now a treatment.. i thought it may help.. search for this on youtube.. its Dr Neal , he is awesome !
Hi omg I didnt know there was a name for the discoloration I have! I have them and I have dark skin, I also have them on the back of my hands , n I'm pretty young, they looked like age spot.. Then I thought I had some kind of severe skin problem.. My face depress me, people keep on telling me that it's not that bad but I die a lil bit inside everyday because of it.. Since I'm still young I didn't want to rush into laser, but is it something we can get rid of? :( I'm so worried everyday , please
Hi there - tx for the tips. I've also had melasma for about 4 years now and I hate it!! My dermatologist told me that unfortunately there is NO CURE! arrrrghhh. He prescribed 4% hydroquinone and said that laser treatments do not & cannot get rid of melasma. In fact, sometimes it can make it worse! Apparently hydroquinone also has certain side-effects and should not be used continuously. I like the make up tips you have given and will try those. Thanks again! PS: No way you're 44!! WOW!
I am 39 and this is my first year with melasma. I have had 3 chemical peels so far. It lightens for about 3 weeks but it eventually darkens. I wear tons of SPF but living in FL does not help. I believe mine has been caused due to my recent thyroid irregularities. Thank you so much for sharing. Great tips!!!
I went to get a laser treatment, but at the interview, I was talked out of it due to melasma being hormonal. The nurse told me that melasma can darken with laser treatment.
hey i've same prob as u bt i couldn't find any thing that covers my melasma, even i went to da store to look for da 1 u have bt couldn't find it really bad ha, any help???
This is one of the best hyperpigmentation/melasma vids i've come across. Mine is on my upper lip and it looks like I have a mustache. I used the hydroquinone (Rx strength, it worked but came back). I also have sunspots & other hyperpigmentation. I think mine is hormone related. Very good video, thanks for sharing :)
Thank you for the video. I was burned recently by an IPL laser on my arm while trying to have a few sun spots removed. The technician decided to amp up the light source which resulted in horrible blistering (3 months ago). I now have big dark red spots on my right arm that looks like leprosy. Doctor did give me obagi clear which helps a little but going back tomorrow to have microdermabraison done. Been trying to find ways to conceal my wounds. You were very professional. thank you!

Mine are on the entire sides of my face, over my eyebrows, the same spot as you above center of eyebrows, over my lip making it look like I have a heavy mustache (meanhile my real 'mustache' is peachfuzz that can barely be seen)
Pan stick was my lifesaver...but that's gone now in the USA! :-( Nothing has covered for me the same way!
Wow you look much younger than your actual age... when I first watched this video, I thought your were in your 20's. Haha, you skin looks fine to me. I'm 16 and also have been dealing with horrible skin and marks..
Just watched your video. Pretty informative. I have never been told I have Melasma, but that I have hormone and sun damage hyperpigmentation. Don't know if they are the same thing, but in my recent research I have done, I appear to have Melasma. It started when I was about 30, turning 39 this year. I hate it! I am so self conscience about it and feel that when people are looking at me, it's not because they think I'm possibly attractive, but they are staring at my spots.
Thank you for this video! I am only 29 yrs.old, but your video has been more helpful to me than other make up videos that i have seen! probably due to the fact that i am a melsama sufferer myself. Im not sure if hormones have contributed to the problem, but im positive that sunbathing has! My problem area is the upper lip, other than some minimal spots, thats the only place i have noticed it. Im very impressed with your results of the dream matte products, and was wondering if you still use?
I can't believe you're over 40! You look great. Also, I was glad to find your video on make-up for melasma(I'm 28 and have had it around my eyes and upper lip for 4 years), although I already use a similar method for applying my make-up, I might try Maybelline and some of the brushes you use. Thanks.
@thisVersion ...thank you so much for the complement!!! i guess i should thank my parents for the good genes :) anyway my melasma started on my upper lip too. i am going to record a new video using mineral makeup...bare minerals really covers well. thanks for the comment, i appreciate it! have a great day :)
@hennafied ...thanks:) have you tried the foundation yet? i'm curious if it worked for you. i am going to post a video soon using mineral makeup so be sure to subscribe so you'll know when i post it. thanks for the comment. have a great day!
@over40makeuplover i haven't yet. I figured I have so much foundation at the moment so don't really want to try it just in case I like it that much that I can't resist and end up buying. I seem to be collecting foundation at the moment.
Thanks for sharing. You have great skin! When u said u are 40 I had to compliment you, I saw no puffy eyes no wrinkles! What is your secret? I need to start using eye cream and I'm gonna try the origins one u showed. Also thanks, I'm 28 and I have some pigmentation on my right cheek, which I started noticing, and I didn't know how to cover it up well. Thanks
@imsarah1 ...hi sarah...you are so sweet!!! thank you so much for your kind words. i have my parents to thank for the good skin genes, i guess!! i have been using the Origins Eye Doctor eye cream for over 10 years. in the AM and PM. it's great. make sure you use a sunscreen daily, so you don't get any more spots. have a great day!!!
Thanks for posting the video! I also have melasma and have tried several products and peelings without much results. I did found that when I switched to Shiseido sun protection liquid foundation my melasma started to lightened up. It gave me the sun protection that I needed, and I was also able reapply the foundation for sun protection without messing up my make up. The down faults: foundation is expensive, but a bit of the product me a great coverage. Not much color to chose from.
@mais357 ...hi there. i haven't heard of that Shiseido product, i'll have to look into it. i kind of feel if the product works, i'm willing to pay for it. let's face it, when you have brown splotches on your face, you want to cover them up!!! i have not tried any chemical peels, only laser. i've been given conflicting information, i had one person tell me that peels wouldn't help my melasma, she was an RN who did laser treatments, and another RN tell me that a combo of laser and peels would work
Hi, thanks for the video. I have been battling with Melasma for 5 years now ( I am 35) first of all it started with my cheeks and now I have the mark in the middle of my forhead like yourself. I know that mine was def due to too much sun! Anyway, one trick I use is actually with a brush to paint around the splodge on my entire forehead some st tropez tanning cream (the one that develops) it doesnt make it perfect but it certainly hides it alot more as it blends in the whole forhead. hav u tried?
@hannah0132 ...so you use a self-tanner on your forehead, and you use a brush to avoid the splotch? so you are making the surrounding skin darker so the splotch is not as noticeable? brilliant!!!!! is it the St. Tropez foamy self tanner that all the beauty gurus on YT use? do you order it online? this is a great idea, especially since summer is around the corner. thank you so much!!! do you have a video showing how to do this? i'm going to head over to your channel right now! thanks again :D
@sidhur8 ...it sucks, i know. i have 3 daughters, 20 y/o twins, and a 15 y/o...they are all so scared that they are going to get this too. sunscreen! sunscreen!sunscreen!!!
Hi, Thanks for video. I am of Indian origin and struggled to get rid of melasma for past 3 yrs. Its sun damaged skin and perhaps hormonal too. I will try Maybeline but one question first which bleach cream do you use and where to buy it? I have bleaching cream but have worsened my dark patches.
@sandybosskhota oh boy, your cream made it worse? The bleaching cream I use is Obagi Nu-Derm Clear. It is a 4% hydroquinone, which is the bleaching agent. This strength is usually prescription or sold only by a doctor. I was recommended this product by my doctor. So i bought my first tube from her, then I repurchased online. I cannot but a link in this comment, but i will send you a personal message with the link. Good luck.
@over40makeuplover thank you so much. I did see video again and figured out cream. I have bought it and using it. It gave me good results. Still trying to find out suitable sunscreen:)))

@over40makeuplover OMG...Can I get the link as well...I;m 35 and have melasma so bad hormones)! I've had 5 laser treatments and it keeps coming back..I hate it:( I honestly think they have no cure..although the lady doing the laser treatments says it's deep and that's why it keeps coming back...I'm thinking she's out for the $ at this point.
Yep, I am a face toucher myself! I think that makes the makeup disappear faster :-(
I do use primer, but it only helps a little. I do follow up w/a powder as well, but it doesn't help. I guess I need to bind my hands so they don't touch my face! :-)
hi, I also have melasma on both apples of my cheeks. It came on after giving birth to my daughter. I'm not sure if it was the pregnancy or the pill (i got on it after). Anyway, I'm hispanic, and prone to hyperpigmentation. I have combo skin. Does the Maybeline makeup you demonstrated get shiny as the day wears on? I might try it, as it seems to have good coverage. I live in TX, and it's very hot and humid. I need makeup that won't slide off in the heat.
@rdml1125 hi there. sorry for the delay in response. my skin is combination...i don't get shiny at all with the Maybelline product. however, we have NO humidity in AZ, so i'm not sure how it will hold up in the humidity. i really like this makeup, it covers very well. i hope this helps.
I would try the Obagi Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser. I grew up in AZ and was out in the sun all the time too. I raced mountain bikes and suffered from lots of melasma starting in my early twenties. I know work for a dermatologist and do graphic design for him. I've learned so much. If you use a harsh cleanser it might make your skin inflammed and your skin will produce more melanin making your melasma worse.
@u2jeffr ...thank you for the info!! i truly appreciate it!! i was told by a cosmetic aesthetician that heat can also make the melasma worse. this really freaked me out, since i do bikram yoga...has your dermatologist said anything about heat? i have the Obagi cleanser...i use it in the shower, since i don't need it to remove my makeup. thanks again for the tip... :)
i just found your channel and subscribed. it was your channel name that drew me. i too am looking for beauty gurus that are over 40. i am 51 and also live in AZ. would love to see more eye looks.
TY soo much for this vid!!!! I have Melasma too, sun damage on my cheeks. Between your vid and Gennarated, I think I def have to try the Dream Mousse foundation! I do have sensitive skin, combo, light to med complex with neutral undertones and I am 40 =). Does this run yellow, pinkish? Is your skin sensitive? Thx again for making this video!!! ~Dawn~ =)
@Mystikk89 ...Hi Dawn, i'm so sorry for the delay in response to your comment. My skin is in the neutral tones...and the color I use is a perfect match. I don't have sensitive skin. This makeup feels very light, I don't feel like I have a lot on...it's great!!! I'm on my second jar, and all 3 of my teenage daughters use it too!!!
Hello, Thanks for sharing this tutorial. I also have melasma but it's probably more due to sun over-exposure since youth. Also, I have tried many acid peels to remove them, but to no avail. I have been watching Lisa and others to see what works for her. In the meantime, I have tried theatrical makeup to cover my spots. I haven't found much lasting power w/this Maybelline Mousse concealer or foundation. Is there a trick? I have stipled it on, but in a matter of hours, it has thinned out . Thx!
@123cetaphil ...hi there. you are right....i do find that it thins out over the course of the day. however, i've also noticed that I tend to touch my face a lot. so I think I'm rubbing some of it off. Have you tried setting powder? Maybe that will make it last longer...also could try using a primer first. I have the smashbox primer, but I don't use it all the time. I've heard that Hard Candy and Rimmel both have good primers. I hope that helps...
@sneakyminx ..I'm so happy to hear that the Maybelline works for you. I really like it. I ordered some BareMinerals loose powder foundation. I'll post a video once I get it. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I have been trying to find out what to do about my melasma. I am 43 and have had mine about 5 years. This helps so much! Thank-you!!
You're right, most of the makeup video people are much younger. I'm getting ready to be 41 so it's nice to see videos catering to the non-20-year-old set! Sometimes it's hard to know if a makeup product will look okay on you if a 23-year-old is demoing it.
I have a question about the dream smooth mousse. How well does it last through the day? I live in a hot, muggy climate and still have pretty oily skin, also have hyperpigmentation on one side of my face to cover.
@BluePlastik ...hi there. so sorry for the delay in response. I have found that I touch my face a lot, and I think that contributes to the makeup not lasting all day. My skin is dry, so I'm not sure how it would work on oily skin. I found out about this makeup from a makeup guru on YT, you may want to search for her. Lisalisad1. I think she may have oily skin, but I'm not sure. I live in AZ, it's very hot during the summer, but not humid. This makeup held up...I hope this helps.
@shelbel327 ...Hi there. so sorry for the delay in response...I have not tried the Covergirl, however I have thought about it. Since it's targeted for women who are older. I do like the cream foundations. If I do buy it, I'll do a video review, and maybe a comparison...that would be a fun video! Thanks for the idea :)
@molina1064 Hi there! Thanks for watching and commenting! Here is a list of the products I used: Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse in 240 Natural Beige, Maybelline Smooth Mousse Concealer in Cream light 4-5, Origins Multi-Grain Makeup spf 14 in 03 Medium.
I hope that helps!! let me know if you have more questions!
Thanks so much for your video, I have this problem in a small area. This will sure help. Do you have lupus, or have you ever been tested.
Thanks for sharing your story:)

Yep, I am a face toucher myself! I think that makes the makeup disappear faster :-(
I do use primer, but it only helps a little. I do follow up w/a powder as well, but it doesn't help. I guess I need to bind my hands so they don't touch my face! :-)
Thanks so much for your recommendations!

hi, I also have melasma on both apples of my cheeks. I need makeup that won't slide off in the heat.
rdml1125 1 year ago

BluePlastik 1 year ago 2
@BluePlastik ...hi there. so sorry for the delay in response. I have found that I touch my face a lot, and I think that contributes to the makeup not lasting all day. My skin is dry, so I'm not sure how it would work on oily skin. I found out about this makeup from a makeup guru on YT, you may want to search for her. Lisalisad1. I think she may have oily skin, but I'm not sure. I live in AZ, it's very hot during the summer, but not humid. This makeup held up...I hope this helps.

Thanks so much for sharing your video. Have you tried Covergirl with Olay Simply Ageless foundation?
shelbel327 1 year ago
@shelbel327 ...Hi there. so sorry for the delay in response...I have not tried the Covergirl, however I have thought about it. Since it's targeted for women who are older. I do like the cream foundations. If I do buy it, I'll do a video review, and maybe a comparison...that would be a fun video! Thanks for the idea :)
