man we rnt even 7 minutes in and already the iron chef an challenger are showing just how personal as well as cultural this battle is o.0, one using gas to cook and the other sticking to charcoal only.
Yes, most things are alive before they are killed and eaten, obviously. They kill them on the show for freshness in the dishes. It is done quickly and as painlessly as possible. If they brought out dead eels on the show, it would just mean they had been killed elsewhere. The killing of living things for food is not torturous and cruel.
Besides, have you ever seen wild animals killing for food? It is much more gruesome and painful than the way humans do it.
complaining about the cruelty by commenting on a video really isn't gonna do much. I only have to say is plants are living thing we don't think its cruel to chop, pick, rip, and eat them (just cause they don't talk, walk, and bleed red blood), it's food cooked and done to the best not wasted and killed just for the heck of it. why watch a pike eel battle if your against it. Oh ya, i love eel and thanks archo89 and whoever reads this rant.
Oh and to those watching outside the US, there is somewhat of an ethical movement as it pertains to killing fish for eating. It is not correct to kill the fish in an improper way that will prolong it's demise. Killing it as quickly as possible is the way to do it. I'm sure the same ethics exist elsewhere too, but I can only comment on the US.
Eel is absolutely delicious. I dunno how to describe it, like a delicate richness. I love eel rolls with eel sauce in sushi places. Delicious! My favorite next to yellowtail sashimi.
Okay... THE FUCK was that cheer at the end?
Some creepy ass shit man...

I like how casually Tanigawa walks up there with the knife and the cutting board and just starts going snick snick snick like no one's business.
