God sent his son so that humanity will be saved through a perfect sacrifice. I think people get caught up in the dogmatic definitions of "sin" but you might as well just say you are human therefore not good enough. Religion, to me, is different than a personal faith. There are no birth records for Jesus, nor any first hand accounts of his life. It is possible that Matthew/Luke were referring to a myth when they talked of Jesus' and his early life. @AMEstrada21 it's not heresy if you're Protestant. We believe that Mary did have other children with Joseph. Both Matthew and Luke say that she gave birth to her "firstborn", which many Protestants interpret meaning that she had more than one child. It also says in Matthew that Joseph did not have marital relations with her until after Jesus was born. I understand that Catholic doctrine disagrees with this, which is fine, but not all Christians follow the same doctrines, which is fine too.

Wise men were originally sent to kill Jesus. According to the Bible, the Devil used the stars to guide the wise men to Jesus. Also, Jesus was not born on December 25th. It was more than likely in October/November. Lastly, when the wise men came to visit Jesus, Joseph and Mary were living in a house, not a stable. You would think that they would at least do a little research before they go and make a movie about the story.

Elizabeth conceived right after Zacharias returned home after performing his duties during the course of Abijah. If you read 1 Chronicles 24 it details the different courses. Beginning on Nisan 1, the courses were 1 week in length, skipping a week for the passover. Abijah was the 8th course which is 9 weeks after Nisan 1. Then all the priests would work Pentecost, the 10th week. His course ran from June 3rd to June 17th of the Julian calendar.
That means the conception was likely June 18th through July 1st. Jesus was conceived 6 months after that, which would be in Late December, early January. That puts Jesus' birth at around the end of September. Couple that knowledge with the fact that when Mary and Joseph arrived, the flocks were outside at night. That's the cold/rainy season of Palestine and the shepherds did not keep their flocks out. I could also discuss the census being taken as well as the reason the inns were all full.
Do you have evidence that the Magi/wise men were originally sent to kill Jesus? Because there's no Scriptural evidence for that, nor is there any for that Satan/stars theory.

Read the second chapter of Matthew. Herod sends the astrologers to find Jesus and report back to him the location of Jesus. Herod told them that he wished to do obeisance to him but in reality, he wanted to kill Jesus. That was the reason he sent the wise men. The wise men themselves didn't know the plot. The point is, they were used as pawns to do the bidding of Herod. Why would God use a star to lead the men who would report the position of Jesus to Herod?
It's a reasonable theory, but it doesn't make sense that Satan would manipulate them to Jesus' location, then fail on the part of them not returning so Herod could kill him. God used the star to guide them to Jesus because the Magi were Gentiles, and Jesus is the "light of revelation to the Gentiles". So, in essence, the star was used to introduce Jesus to the Gentiles, it was a revelation; what better way to reveal than through the witness of 'wise men'?

@killyjoy13 Many people might not think so, but in my opinion if God didn't love you, he'd just be an asshole. Things like sexuality and such aren't choices; even science proves we were born that way. For people who think we have to repent for that "sin", they don't take into consideration we don't choose it. You don't look at someone and wonder, "Am I straight or gay today?" You just are. So in my opinion, God should still love you. If he doesn't, our Heavenly Father is a dick.

@killyjoy13 Well, saying religion is a little broad, but in Christianity, God loves you. The Bible says that God is love. It doesn't matter though b/c we were born with a sin nature. God sent his son so that humanity will be saved through a perfect sacrifice. I think people get caught up in the dogmatic definitions of "sin" but you might as well just say you are human therefore not good enough. Religion, to me, is different than a personal faith. I'm not religious, but I believe in God.

Salvation is for everybody--even you--but you have to decide to access His free gift. The other wonderful thing is that God made us with free will so that we don't have to serve Him unless we want to.

There are no birth records for Jesus, nor any first hand accounts of his life. It is possible that Matthew/Luke were referring to a myth when they talked of Jesus' and his early life. It seems highly likely that Luke was thinking of the famous Roman myth (that was around well before the Jesus' myth) of Romulus and Remus - who also were born by a virgin, and also had a king ordering the slaughter of all the other children in the same area.

For love of Christ many Christians are sorrowful and believe that if Jesus had lived, the world would be a better place. You must read the Scriptures very carefully because within them, God has destined for Jesus to die for our sins. It was foretold in the First Testament. Had Jesus lived we would still be in our sins.

@AMEstrada21 yes the church says that because she was born without sin she didnt suffer through the pain that is childbirth, However and yes I do know all things are possible through god but wouldnt you think that you would feel some pain from childbirth you got to think a baby weighs approx between 6-8 lbs on average and normal head size is between 13-15 cms how did she deliver the baby? obviously we dont know because we were not there but maybe it didnt hurt who knows?

As a roman catholic and was taught in a roman catholic primary and secondary school. I was taught that Jesus was created by the lord and was born by the virgin mary to flesh and blood with one purpose: to teach the word of God to all those who believe and do no believe and to build the kngdom of heaven on earth and that he died to forgive the sinners of the world. why? because he is our brother and he loves us. In fact, I thought the Vatican would know of Mary and Her Immaculate Conception and how she couldn't have felt the pains of childbirth because she was carrying the Son of God and was born without sin as the Church teaches us as well.

@jjkid6 Mary's parents did not need to be concieved with out sin. Only Mary because she would be the new acr of the coevenant. She would literally house the God, so she needed to be perfect do that, this was Jewish custom. Jesus was sinless but so was Mary.

@AMEstrada21 it's not heresy if you're Protestant. We believe that Mary did have other children with Joseph. Both Matthew and Luke say that she gave birth to her "firstborn", which many Protestants interpret meaning that she had more than one child. It also says in Matthew that Joseph did not have marital relations with her until after Jesus was born. I understand that Catholic doctrine disagrees with this, which is fine, but not all Christians follow the same doctrines, which is fine too.

Both of these things r an issue of semantics.For ex., a woman died giving childbirth. On her grave it says she died giving birth to her 1stborn.Her death makes it impossible 4 her to have more kids but 1stborn doesn't always imply there are more kids.

@sharonWIT Part 1: Well, when "firstborn" is mentioned in scripture it relates to the tradition of the "firstborn" becoming the families Spiritual father or Priest, but to get into that we'd have to rehash a 5,000 year narrative of Priestly typology - which is a reason Protestants don't have them, because they don't acknowledge that. Its OK, use the Bible that came to you through the Catholic Church, in which Luke and Matthew are kept separate and intact (a decision made by The Catholic Church)

@sharonWIT "Firstborn" is used specifically to reference a longer "Priest narrative typology" that cuts throughout the Old and New Testament (I know, Protestants don't have Priests.) You got the story from Matthew and Luke (two texts kept separate and included by The Catholic Church). From which you celebrate Christmas - originally Christ's Mass (I know, Protestants don't have Mass) on December 25 (a Catholic Feast, long outlawed by Protestants). I saw that movie. The first part has many lies, wich get repeated in fan-boys of the movie web pages. One of them was some mitology idol being born from a virgin, when you look it up, it was born from a rock. It has 2 or 3 more lies. So I wonder why would somebody make a movie with twisted information for no reason? not to mention the delirius ending

Wise men were originally sent to kill Jesus. According to the Bible, the Devil used the stars to guide the wise men to Jesus. Also, Jesus was not born on December 25th. It was more than likely in October/November. Lastly, when the wise men came to visit Jesus, Joseph and Mary were living in a house, not a stable. You would think that they would at least do a little research before they go and make a movie about the story.

Elizabeth conceived right after Zacharias returned home after performing his duties during the course of Abijah. If you read 1 Chronicles 24 it details the different courses. Beginning on Nisan 1, the courses were 1 week in length, skipping a week for the passover. Abijah was the 8th course which is 9 weeks after Nisan 1. Then all the priests would work Pentecost, the 10th week. His course ran from June 3rd to June 17th of the Julian calendar.

That means the conception was likely June 18th through July 1st. Jesus was conceived 6 months after that, which would be in Late December, early January. That puts Jesus' birth at around the end of September. Couple that knowledge with the fact that when Mary and Joseph arrived, the flocks were outside at night. That's the cold/rainy season of Palestine and the shepherds did not keep their flocks out. I could also discuss the census being taken as well as the reason the inns were all full.

Do you have evidence that the Magi/wise men were originally sent to kill Jesus? Because there's no Scriptural evidence for that, nor is there any for that Satan/stars theory.
However, a strict literal conformance to trivial things (i.e. legalism, NOT that Jesus' birth was trivial; absolutely not) such as the exact birth-date of Jesus is not the message of Scripture. The message of Scripture is being accurately portrayed in this film: Jesus' birth, and the purpose he brings.

Read the second chapter of Matthew. Herod sends the astrologers to find Jesus and report back to him the location of Jesus. Herod told them that he wished to do obeisance to him but in reality, he wanted to kill Jesus. That was the reason he sent the wise men. The wise men themselves didn't know the plot. The point is, they were used as pawns to do the bidding of Herod. Why would God use a star to lead the men who would report the position of Jesus to Herod?

It's a reasonable theory, but it doesn't make sense that Satan would manipulate them to Jesus' location, then fail on the part of them not returning so Herod could kill him. God used the star to guide them to Jesus because the Magi were Gentiles, and Jesus is the "light of revelation to the Gentiles". So, in essence, the star was used to introduce Jesus to the Gentiles, it was a revelation; what better way to reveal than through the witness of 'wise men'?

He didn't fail. An angel told Joseph and Mary to flee to Egypt. After Herod learned of Jesus' birthplace he had all the male children in Bethlehem killed.
Also, those wise men, or astrologers were practicing something that God does not think too kindly of. Would God have led someone partaking of something seriously disapproved of in the Bible to his son? Also, the star first led them to Herod, then led them to Jesus. There are no other accounts of anyone else seeing the star.

Absolutely. Satan is an instrument utilized to test, and accuse; this applies to the Magi. There are many examples in Scripture where God doesn't condone certain things, but they are done nonetheless, the reason being that all things are directed, as a means, to achieve his ultimate end (or goal).

God had decreed that wicked Ahab would be destroyed. Ahab allowed Baal worship to infect Israel on an unprecedented scale due to his early marriage to Jezebel. God also wanted Ahab to kill Ben-hadad, the Syrian, who led an assault against God's people. Instead Ahab spared him and created an alliance with him for his own personal benefit. Pretty much Ahab was a despicable character. This was God's land. His people. To preserve his land and people, he had to punish Ahab.
