  • Your video is awesome. made me miss my year as an exchange student in Iowa.

  • Hey, your video is really awesome! I'm looking into forgein exchange for the 2012-2013 school year in France. I actually live in Montana! It's really cool to hear that you came to Montana, what town did you come to? Also what program did you go through to become an exchange student and how much did it cost? Thanks so much! I hope you enjoyed your time here.

  • Vildt ! Det lyder som om det var helt fantastisk ! Jeg skal selv afsted et år til USA næste sommer ! Det bliver Awesome ! Jeg glæder mig vildt meget!! Men rigtig sød video ! :D

  • It looks like you had a great time! :) I'm from the USA. I'm in high school and thinking about being a foreign exchange student in Italy or England. I just don't know if I'm brave enough! I might get home sick. But it seems like it'd be an amazing experience. Was understanding English and our slang hard at first? Did it get easier? Or was it always easy for you? And did your English improve?

  • what program did you used? and how much does it cost? thank you.

  • I want to do foreign exchage, except i want to go from the states not to the states. Do you have any information?

  • Jeg vil såååå gerne derover! Er i gang med at plage :-D Men hvilket selskab rejste du med?:-)

  • fuck i forgot Eastern Europe has like 20 something languages i give up no clue what it is

  • no.. hehe I'm from Denmark ;P lol

Well I took an extra year of school to do it, so :) heheh

  • beautiful...

I'm an exchange student in NY..

And I'm leaving in less than 3 months :((

But I had the time of my life!!!

  • Where in Montana did you stay. I live in Missoula

and am going to be an exchange student to Germany in the summer. I know that means nothing since u r from Denmark tho.

  • Hi I'm from Venezuela and I will be an exchange student in the US in august.. could you give me your email so I can ask you some questions about your experience thankss

  • Good to see that you had a fun time here in the States! I've heard from many exchange students that America is a surprisingly pleasent experience; I'm always interested in hearing what foriegners have to say about American culture! I'm actually planning on signing up for my college's study abroad group...I would like to go somewhere in Europe. They offer classes (that count!) in Spain and Germany, but I'd also like to visit other places like Sweden, UK, Finland, wherever it is! My goal is to go!

  • Where's your "real" home ? I'm goin' to the US 2009-2010 and I'm like superexcited about it ! How was the people ? the school ? gosh, I have SO many questions :D

  • I'm from Denmark..

People were nice, very interested in who i was and where I was from... Helped me out a lot in the beginning when there were things I didnt understand and such. I went to a good school.. heheh

If you've got any more questions, feel free to send me a message :)

  • Oh, I'm from Finland... :P I'd like to know about like how strict the host family was ? Like did they let u go to your friends or did u have to call them like every 20 minutes or so ? :D

  • well my family was very religious, like you have no idea, so there was no swearing and such and they said prayers before every meal and such. And I lived far up in the mountains, so it was a little hard, but when I was with my friends they let me be there. We agreed a time for me to be picked up the day before.. But every family is different...

  • Yeeah... I applied to the west coast so yeah... I've heard that unlike here in Finland, where people are pretty much the same in the east and west, in the US like the west and the east coast are completely different, besides i think i'll end up in California Arizona or Nevada so... :P But I think I can handle prayers before meals, even though I dislike christianity, but hey, that's their way of life isn't it ? =)

  • Oh that sounds cool... XD

But Finland isnt as big as the states, so of course there is a big difference from east to west..

Well, you should stand up for what you believe in, but still respect their way of life :)

  • Yeeah :) Umm, would it be OK if we talked on msn or something ?

  • sorry.. I havent got an msn..

but you can feel free to send me a message if there is anything that you'd like to know more about :)

  • Ok =) Nothing actually comes to my mind right now... People there are friendly and really socil and so on ? OH ! and afterschool activities ? =P

  • yea

as long as you are nice to them they are nice to you... hehehe

    what about after school activities?

  • Well umm... WHAT are after school activities ? Like hobbys or ?

  • oh.. hehe it is mostly different kinds of sport... like track, football, soccer, basketball, tennis... ;P

  • Okkaaay :D U had any of these ? :P The only sport i do is Karate (^_^) but I guess tennis would be interesting :P

  • I had Tennis to be honest. It was a lot of fun.. hehe

  • But u never had tennis before u went to the states ? so u can like start a new hobby there just like that ? Oh, and are the after school activities like takin' much time and is it a part of school ? lol I fel stupid askin' these things :D

  • you shouldnt feel stupid

and no, I had never even played tennis before ((but I have played badmiton)) so yea, I just started.. And I was on JV lol

Well.. it does take up some time after school... Think I got home like 2-3 hours later than normal.. but it was worth it XD and if you've got a match during school hours you wont be marked as tardy, cause it is school related XD

  • Oh well that actually sounds pretty good ! =P What all after school activities did you say there were ? :P others than the ones you already said lol ^^

  • Oh I dont remember them all to be honest.. But there was also wrestling, cheerleading and volley.. And then the ones I told you before.. those are the ones I remember.. :)

  • Okaaay :D well I think tennis will be pretty nice... Considering my size (I'm pretty skinny lol) wrestling won't be my thing (^_^) volleball could be nice too =) With which organisation did u go btw ? :P

  • I went with YFU - Youth For Understanding

Well, just so you know, EVERYONE gains at least a few pounds when they get over there.. hehe

  • Hahahaha okaaay :D that I've actually heard, my friend was in the states for about a month on a C.I.S.V.-camp and she gained like 5 kg :D Oh now I have a rly smart question ! (^_^) How did you adapt to the Mile and Ich and lbs system ? U do have Kilometers and kilogrammes in Denmark ?

  • HAHAHAH - now that was a really smart question, and to tell you the truth... I never did ;P lol But like I got explained what is sort of was in km//kg//cm's and such, and it is almost twice as much.. Like 1 mile is about 2 kms.. But I still dont really get ti ;P

  • okaay :D how was the school then ? my interviewer told me that it's like really easy atleast compared with the highschools we have here in finland

  • Trust me, it really is easy! I have never had spanish before, but I got A's and I was one of the best in my class. I also got A-B's in English and U.S. History!! Ten times easier than it is at my school at least

  • Yeah I've only heard similiar stories, that it is easy I mean... Umm a pretty stereotypical question, and I do NOT intend to discriminate anybody in any way but are the average americans stupid and fat ? =D

  • It is.. like I get kinda low grades here at home... Never had as good grades as when I was there.

HAHAH - well there are some that are fat, and there are some that are stupid.. It isnt that different from the rest of the world. It is a hard question to answer to be honest..

  • Yeah I know :D Well I'll see for myself ! (^^,) Can't rly think of much more to ask... the host family ? yeah u told me the prayers and all and I realize that there are so many different people so I can end up in a totaly different kind of family but all in all how were they ? oh and was it like mom dad and kids or ? :P

  • Well you see - I didnt have a family when I had to leave, so I got a start out family, that had me till I got my permanent family, but at that family there only was a woman and her baby ((plus another exchange student)) and the woman didnt like me, so I had to find a new one, and I did and they were the best ever! So you need to watch out, cause not all of them are that great. and if it doesnt seem to work out, sit down and have a talk with them and your organization. I called my host dad papa

  • Yeah I've heard things like that too, shame... =/ But I'm off to the sauna now I'll B back in like 30 mins... U've been sitting by ur comp all day, haven't you ? xD

  • yea..

yes I have, but I am trying to write a paper.. lol that is why ;P

  • Okaay, back now (^_^) Oh I'm a guy btw it I hadn't said it before lol =D

  • eheh ok...

    didnt even think about it..

But do you have other questions or anything?

  • Well not really, I've bothered u enough lol (^^,) No but I don't know... I'll ask u if I can think of something. I'd also be glad to keep you posted on how my process goes, and well yeah... I'll be heading to the states next autumn OH ! There's a question, when did u go ? like in which month ? :P

  • Dont worry I dont mind. and feel free to ask any questions at any time..

I left in the middle of august..

  • Okkaaay =D Well I gotta say thx for today, I'm gonna go watch a movie (^_^) ttyl8r

  • your welcome..

    have fun :)

  • Hello there, I don't know if you remember me but we had a talk about exchange things around christmas time. Well just wanted to tell you that I got a family in New Hampshire, they're really nice and I'm gonna live near the town and well yeah, I'll be leaving in about 2/3 months =)

  • Hello !

I really enjoyed watching your video, looks like you had an awesome time over there. I'm currently on an exchange year in Melbourne, Australia. I've arrived 20 days ago and been to school for 2 weeks. I just don't feel quite well at the moment, I feel like I made a mistake. How much time did you need to start having friends, feeling at home and starting a real life, and all that ? Did the people come towards you or were they ignoring you ? I would love to get some answers from you.

    xx

  • I'm so excited right now I want to do this too, but what about the american diploma you got there, was it valid in your country??

  • I didnt graduate - i was a junior, but no, the year didnt count over here. Had to take it over...

  • ok :(

well thanks for answering anyway, i really wanted to know that ;)

  • your welcome - any time...

but still, it is an amazing experience. an extra year in school shouldnt scare you off :)

  • but.. It's not so simply I think. At first I must notify to exchange ,but I don't know where.

  • sorry... dont really know what you mean..

Dont you know where you are going or?

  • Ohh It's great. What I should do when I want to exchange?

    Where r U from?

  • I'm from Denmark... heh

Well, you should be open for trying new things and for meeting new people.. thats the most important things lol ;P

  • oh! I love it! This is so cute! You have a really cute smile, and you look so happy!! :D

  • Hi!!

I'm going to the US for a year...

Was it difficult to make friends at school?

I'm very nervous about my trip but very excited at the same time.

  • Ohm... Heheh.. No, people are surprisingly nice and welcoming, just make sure that you dont seem like you dont want to get to know them, be open and happy. And make sure to join some after school activities :D

I can understand that you are nervous, I was so too.. But it was great :D

Where are you going in the US???

  • I don't know thw place yet, I have a meeting on june and the agency will tell me.

I've got another questin if you don't mind...

Are there (in US) the typical groups that you see on TV (the populars, the dorks, the study guys...)??? It's just for curiosity

  • Well, hehe. Yeah, but its not as corny as in the movies.((Like our promqueen was one of the art freaks but also a cheerleader.. LOL)) But the thing that surprised me the most was that the people in the different groups all look like each other. Like they have the same kinda hair//clothes//talk the same way... Those kinda things. Cause when I look at my friends, we are all very different :)

But yeah, there is the different groups.. hehe

Hope you understood my answer... LOL

  • oHHH, i forgot to tell you I LOVE McFly!!

  • I kinda guessed from looking at the name ;P

  • thank you very much... from Spain!

  • your welcome :)

  • Hi, great video. Just wondering whether it was difficult in school. Was it lots of homework and was it hard getting good grades?

  • Well, I dont know how your school system works, but in DK i normally get C's and B's.. But over there I mostly got A's and B's. There wasnt too much homework, but its what you do at home that kinda decides what grade you should have. It isnt hard at all :D

Hope that could help :D and thanks :D

  • "..knows how it is to leave a part of yourself behind.." Yeah, I sure know how that feels...

  • I'm glad you had there great time! Thanks for video, cause I'm thinkink about being exchange student in USA. Everything seems lovely! :) I'm sure you miss it a lot..

  • More than you could ever imagine!!!

  • Did you argue with your host faimly?

  • you mean like fight???

Cos no... I didnt.. We got along.. Actually better then I get along with my own family.. Why???

  • I just wonder :)

Could you tell me what was the worst thing there for you?

As I said before I'm thinking about go to USA that's why I ask you :P

  • The worst thing was that the organization I went with didnt have a family for me when I came, so I had to live with a woman, who hated me.. She only took me in becuase she thought she would get paid for it! But then I got my real host family :D :D

And the leaving part... That was horrible!!

  • That video freaking rocked... You have some really good pictures in there

  • Thanks ;D
