@Kenoburned Yeah thats cos its Bower, if you havent noticed Zelda is full of Mario easter eggs. Bowers pendenants, potraits of Mario characters. The sign in Dodongo Cavern that says L IS REAL 2401, i sign to do with Paper Mario being released on that date. 4th February 2001 where you get to play as Luigi (hence the L IS REAL). The original idea of the Forest Temple in OoT was supposed to be like an actual forest, where you would meet acquaintance with a monkey companion and he leads you to the lair of monkeys. But considering it wouldn't fit the other non-realistic traits of the game, Nintendo dropped the idea and held it for further games.

As for the Forest Temple, if what you say is true, then it is exactly Twilight Princess forest temple which I don't like, I don't hate it, but it's my least favorite of the three games you mentioned.
