I was put on an oral treatment because initially I was misdiagnosed as having type 2 diabetes. Over the course of a few months, the treatment stopped working and I was referred to an endo that confirmed that I had type 1 diabetes. I got started with Lantus insulin shots first and eventually, shots of Novolog. A couple of years later, I started on the pump.
That's exactly what happened to me a year and a half ago. I was misdiagnosed as a T2, and ended up being a T1. I was diagnosed at age 34. This is becoming a common issue.
interesting... I've never considered a pump, mainly because my diabetes has been relatively easy to handle (4-5 shots a day, HbA1c just below 6.5), but, well, I've had this only 1½ years, maybe I'll get tired of being a pin cushion ;)
How could you have been put on an oral treatment if you were diognosed with type 1?

We just created a tudiabetes video channel, in case anyone touched by diabetes wants to subscribe to it.
