Eh..even at stock my Core i7 920 will rape some overclocked Phenom II's and at overclocked speed, psh. You have no idea, but this vid is old and yes the i7 was rediculious at launch xDD As per SL, it favours Nvidia because ATI has piss poor drivers for OpenGL. Even with my system, my HD4850 hardly got good FPS. ;;
dont cry, your fps is better than my with so big draw distance, 12 fps is my maximum on 96m distance without windlight and with ripped water shaders) but crysis just crashes at start (( i newer playd this game T.T
i have intel p4 2.4Ghz, 512mb of sdr ram, nVidia geForce FX 5700 256mb vram, dx8, pixel shader v1.0, no SSE
I have to agree with Sokonomi --- "Its because crysis is preloaded and optimised, SL has dynamic content. "
Alos have to agree with xXxAkiraClaymorexXx, SL just happens to love GeForce cards......It's not poor coding....The entire platform is actually very genius, thats probably why so many open source grids exist today....ex: OS Grid,New World Grid,Next Life, Open Life..the list goes on and on....
i dont think you can compare a simulation game with a first person shooter game simply because sim-games require more because you do a lot more than a mission. it has so much more freedom so it needs much better graphics to look as good as crysis eg. well future game designers can learn from the mistakes so it s not all bad. and simulation games just keep getting better with all this new technology. someone else will always come up with smth new.
Lol, you don't have crysis up very high at all.. but anyway, Crysis is run with alot of Nvidia brand software to give it a bunch of it's effects and was made by a company based almost completely around graphics and working on optomizing them to run and amazing speeds.
Secondlife was made so that you can do anything make your own code to do anything and just basically do EVERYTHING. they don't use all those fancy optomizations so you can make things EXACTLY how you want them
Second Life runs best with nVIDIA cards. Unless you have a high end card like me, then you can't expect wonderful performance & quality. I have the nVIDIA GeForce 8800GT AMP adition, with 700mhz core clock. My cpu is AMD's Athlon 64x x2 6000 series, with 3.0ghz its a dual core. If you want SL to run smooth, take care of your pc and look for specs like those.
and thats why its the definition of bad programing. it runs with highest ATI cards also but its not a demanding game its not coded efficiently AT ALL,
second life is a years old game that already looked outdated (like all mmos, so everyone can run it) when it came out. there is no justification for the horrible performance, the uploader has a point and you dont. except how cool the pc is that your mom bought you.
@windson7 well this was 2 years ago, it was a pretty fast card, not the fastest obviously, but damn good enough to run SL smoothly when I had that build lol.
second life only uses about 20-30% gpu usage and about 40% cpu usage
I can run 2 copies of second life and the frame rates wont change at all and it still wont use full gpu usage or cpu usage. the game just runs slow in general
@Razor2048 The mesh of objects on sl is made by residents of sl, on other games the mesh of the objects are made by professionals to get them more optimized, you cant expect to get decent frame rates on ether sl or crysis on your system. plus its not the coding, it only takes up about half the gpu and cpu power to stop them getting too hot and slowing down your computer, on better "ultra" viewers you can change this.
noob dont compare second life to crysis...
my geforce 9500 GT DDR2 512MB fuck the second life on maximun settings
limit setings 16xAA...
on crysis my card is of wood dont suport very high 0xAA 800x600...
only on high fps 12-20...
you fail

For future reference, Kit Estates back in 08 would not be a good place to frame test.

What computer should you buy if you wanted to play a game as good as Crysis on the highest graphic settings?

yep a little after posing the video i figured out why SL was so laggy. it only uses 20-40% gpu usage and 20-50% cpu usage.
on a geforce 8800, it still uses 20-40% cpu usage.
on a radeon 4870 is still uses 20-40% the game refuses to make full use .
it is like it is like buying a 12 pack of soda then throwing away all but 1 can,
Sl just refuses to make good full use of the systems

i dont get it!
It's a game with graphics of shit and needs a good graphic card!
Even gta 3 is better than that!

if your pc was a cock, would you suck it?
and it isnt even high end anymore.

(I got another videocard today, SL still lags )

I got a new one too actually, an Ati 4780X2. And even that doesnt manage Secondlife on full detail (water reflection slays it).
I guess SL is too entangled in its coding to back out of its current graphics engine though.
