Pol Pot is dead, but France is still in Europe, and Cambodia was a protectorate of France from 1863 to 1953.

From what i've learned the unified Vietnamese went after the Khmer Rouge. Which they considered a dangerous rouge state. The Americans belief in the enemy of my enemy is my friend made it worse.

I don't understand, why the need for a trial?! There are skeletons and skulls for evidence and blood on the regime's (and ex-khmer rouge soldiers') hands, what is there to convict? This makes absolutely no sense to me, there should be a nation wide persecution of the khmer rouge, but they still have a safe haven in NW Cambodia, why not just seek them out and bring justice on the peoples' terms (instead of BS international terms) ?
