there's a little problem with states seceding from the union. Most of these states are not self-sufficient, and when banding together, they're still not self-sufficient. what would happen is those states would be brought back into the union through trade embargoes from the EU, Canada, China, and Mexico. Since the states had to gain approval of the Union to enter, they should also have to get approval from the US Congress and other 50 states through majority vote to leave the Union.

I believe the Governor of Vermont is being to cautious and that once Vermont is free from all the expenses of belonging to the union they will be more prosperous; although I don't share the liberal values of Vermont I believe they should have the right to govern themselves.

The federal government did not approve entry, the states held votes to determine if the state would enter. The right to leave the union was held and taught in military schools up until King Lincolns reign of terror.
Noone should need permission to end ones association with the government. To say otherwise is to say the state and not yourself owns you.

My granfather was a lithuanian peasant and a railroad stationmaster for the Czar.
