  • Brilliant

  • If it took that long to say antidisestablishmentarianism I'd hate to think what would have happened if Blackadder had said: I'll be back before you can say pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

  • "It minds not me that you dress like a mad parrot and talk like a plate of beans negotiating their way out of a cows digestive system....

...It is no skin off my rosy nose that there are bits of lemon peel floating down the thames that would make better regents than you."

    George: ah yes, bravo

  • Damn his eyes. Damn his breeches. Damn his duck pond.

Amazing they knew of the MPs expenses scandal 20 years beforehand.

  • @kaptdandan you spelled "spelled" wrong in your comment

  • Isn't this the wrong time period for antidisestablishmentarianism to exist?

  • @Myles0Harcourt noooooo.... The plural of a word does not count neither is it in a dictionary. Antidisestablishmentarianist would be the word and it is exactly the same length as "-ism"

  • Surely the longest word is "antidisestablishmentarianists", the plural of someone who follows the doctrine of antidisestablishmentarianism?

  • Rowan Atkinson is in everything!

  • I seriously doubt I will ever tire of Blackadder, which I first had the privilege of watching in 2005. Give me any episode out of the franchise and I shall be happy!

  • He's dead, sir. o.e

  • Antidisestablishmentariansim is opposition to the withdrawal of state support or recognition from an established church, esp. the Anglican Church in 19th-century England. So you are against (anti) dis-establishment (expelling it from the establishment/taking away its establishment status). And then arianism at the end of a word just means an adherent of that thing, like in Rastafarianism or vegetarianism. So now you know.

  • Nice legs, Laurie

  • @zatriax Thats what I was thinking as well :P

  • antilupusleadpoisoningtachacardiahodgekins

  • 1:37 subtle blackadder.

  • Anti-distinctly-mutly-mer-

    I'm back sir

    Hooray for that XD

  • 1:39 Uh oh... something wrong

  • @DarthRushy He's dead sir...

  • @MrSquidman007 Oh no, Blackadder he's just thinking deeply.

  • antidistestablishmentarianism. Ugh. BUT EVERY EPISODE OF THE SAGA MAKES ME LAUGH ESPECIALLY SERIES 1!!!!

  • It sounds like he says "mad pirate" not parrot as it says above. I think makes more sense, no? Who is Buxomley? He is awesome.

  • DAMN HIS DUCKPOND!

  • You have a physique of a demigod... - He's dead sir. xDD ROFL

  • Is it me or his Hugh not wearing his culottes?

  • 1:16 Blackadder looks as though he were about to crack up laughing!

  • @aDieuSeul I would say Blackadder would be cracking up in that situation so maybe it's deliberate :)

  • 3rd season is the best!

  • " ... a human body in perfect working order. "

    " He's dead, sir. "

    01:49

  • This is a role for Laurie. Not House. This.

  • "Why should I spend money tables when I have men standing Idle?" XD

  • ...you eat your sevants?

  • @kaptdandan

    spelling police man?

  • -nice hat-

  • i would have a better chance saying this word drunk than sober!!

  • 'Damn his duckpond!'

    XD

  • @kaptdandan Rectified. :) Thank you.

  • @kaptdandan I think I did it under the influence!!

  • The question of disestablishment of the Church of England is still current, often tied with the position of the English monarch as "Supreme Governor" of the Church. Those who wish to continue the establishment of the Church of England are referred to as Antidisestablishmentarians. The word is often referenced in English-speaking popular culture on account of its unusual length of 28 letters and 12 syllables. It is one of the longest words in the Oxford English Dictionary.

  • @comfortablynumb1975x You should see a Finnish dictionary.....

  • @comfortablynumb1975x

If you want to see a long word, there's the chemical name for Titin. It won't even fit in the comment box on it's own.

  • @Javjean Ha!!

I missed that comment... what is the word my friend?

  • @comfortablynumb1975x

Seriously, it won't fit in the comment box. The short version of it is 'titin'.

  • Antidisestablishmentarianism is a political position that originated in 19th-century Britain in opposition to proposals for the disestablishment of the Church of England, that is, to remove the Anglican Church's status as the state church of England, Ireland, and Wales. The establishment was maintained in England, but in Ireland the Church of Ireland was disestablished in 1871. In Wales, four Church of England dioceses were disestablished in 1920, subsequently becoming the Church in Wales.

  • what on earth is that word is it even REAL!

HOW CAN U DIE IN A CHAIR!

  • @erinharrisful You can die in a chair quite easily. Heart attacks, asphyxiation, gout flareup, stroke... all common to a certain class of Georgian. And to a certain sort of person in whatever timeline. Elvis died on a toilet, y'know.

  • what on earth is that word is it even REAL!

  • @erinharrisful Yes it is. Antidisestablishmentarianism is the longest word in the English Dictionary

  • Excuse me but is it real word? ;)

  • @AmMartha It is.

    But "anti-distinctly minty muntinism" isn't

    :)

  • Antidisestablishmentarianism!

  • Comment removed

  • 'On the one occasion he did enter the House of Commons: He passed water in the great hall and passed out in the speakers chair'

  • Seriously, how can someone die immediately after sitting in a chair? Did he just say "ill heath curse my every waking moment" out loud?

    "He's dead, sir." DOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!!!

  • "It is no skin off my rosy nose that there are bits of lemon peel floating down the thames that would make better regents than you."

I really need to use that sometime.

  • "bravo!"

  • .....Anti distinctly minty mountains...

  • "It minds not me that you dress like a mad parrot and talk like a plate of beans negotiating their way out of a cows digestive system." ROFL!!!

I think I fell out of my chair!

  • @Chewyfied hahahaha exactly!

    It's not easy i tell ya. :)

  • this was the best shit ever

  • What was Hugh Laurie's name in Blackadder??? I can't remember!!

  • @CrazyforSakis

In Blackadder 2 he was - German Prince Ludwig the Indestructible.

In Blackadder 3 he was - George, Prince of Wales, Prince Regent.

In Blackadder 4 he was - Lt. the Honourable George Colhurst St. Barleigh.

Hope that clears it up for you.

  • @comfortablynumb1975x In Blackadder 2 he was also part of the ludicrous drinking party, episode "Beer". I think he was Simon "Farters Parters" Partridge.

  • @elizasparrow Yeah yeah that's right!

    :)

  • @comfortablynumb1975x Thank you :)

  • @CrazyforSakis

    Thanks for that.

    :)

  • damn his eyes, damn his trousers, damn his duck pond that might lack ducks!

  • "Anti-distinctly-minty..."

  • Mr. Bean, House, my favorite word and history all in one package. FTW!

  • Sir Talbot Buxomly:

"I care not a jot that you are the son of a certified sauerkraut-sucking loon! It minds not me that you dress like a mad parrot and talk like a plate of beans negotiating their way out of a cow's digestive system. It is no skin off my rosy nose that there are bits of lemon peel floating down the Thames that would make better Regents than you."

    hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha

  • The Prince Regent: "Ah, good on you, sir. And don't talk to me about infirmity. Why, sir, you are the hardy stock that is the core of Britain's greatness. You have the physique of a demigod. Purple of cheek, and plump of fatlock, the shapely ankle and the well-filled trouser that tells of a human body in perfect working order."

  • @comfortablynumb1975x

    he is dead, sir XD

  • lol

  • The title of this should be "Antidisestemblishmentarianism", not "Antidisdisestablishmentarianism"; there are one too many (dis)es!

  • anti-distinctley minty muntyism.

  • antidishenstablishmentarism. lol

  • anti-distinctly minty muntinism was the first thing I said when I watched House the first time and nocticed that it was Hugh Laurie who played him;)

  • Teehee meanman.

    :)

  • @meanmanturbo Y!!ou are to be commended for noticing that Hugh Laurie was even in other series,so many of my fellow Americans have not a clue that he was even British!!!

(Goes to show how convincing his American accent truly is..an epic caliber actor, love him soo much! :X)

  • @snottyxraygirl well, Ive been a Blackadder fan for ages, long before House was made, so it wasnt that weird;)

  • @meanmanturbo

Exactly; If you look on my channel, you will see loads of Hugh Laurie videos & clips that came at l;east a decade before house.

Hugh is like a fine wine - he just gets better & better.

  • @comfortablynumb1975x yeah, House got me into looking up ABOFAL and Jeeves and Wooster. Truth be told, House is probably one of his works that intrests me the least.

  • he's cute! yummy

  • "dead? oh, what rotten luck. we were rather getting on!"

  • Teehee.

    So Hugh Laurie!

  • "anti-distinctly minty muntinism..."

don't worry prince georgey ol boy you've almost got it!

  • @UnfoldingWings

    Teehee :)

I never tire of watching this sketch.

  • @comfortablynumb1975x - me either :P

  • @UnfoldingWings

But if I recall correctly, the subtitles said "distinctly-minty-monetarianism"! Yes, quite the ladies man.

  • @Javjean Well, there're the subtitles and then there're my ears. When I wrote that there were no subtitles...and even if I still listen to it now I hear "muntinism" and not "monetarianism". Either way, I think we can both agree he's still a bit off.

  • his dead sir.. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • thanks for posting this!!!

  • @yanammm

    Cheers.

    :)

  • This is Hugh Laurie in his role as the Prince in Blackadder the Third.

In this Blackadder tell the Prince that he will be back before he can say.....

    "Antidisdisestablishmentarianism."

He tries, but alas can only manage 'Anti distinctly minty munty...'

    :)

    Enjoy!

  • Antidisestablishmentarianism. Only one of dis.

  • I just love the "well I wouldn't be too sure about that.....(2 days later) Anti distinctly minty munty.

    teehee

    :)
