  • This was the first song with a pedal steel..Bud Issacs started it all...He played a Bigsby steel..

  • What a great and distinctive voice he had. Love it.

  • According to Wikipedia, this is one of the first songs where the steel pedals were used to change tuning in mid-chord. It established the begining of modern steel playing.

    couldn't agree more. this is REAL country music! and yeh - fiddle... sorely missed. thankfully we have Alison Krauss these days!

  • The steel guitar is what defined the classic country sound, but even in the 60's when many instruments were added in the background, the sound was still country. It really started to change in the late 80's. Too Bad!!
