They also put a Metallica song and Alice in Chains in the game. So many great metal tracks that you won't even be aware of unless you actually listen to this kind of stuff =P
Amazing, amazing music. It fits so well when you pull out the little arsenal you have, to find yourself in a dark, big room with small lights at the corners. Traps everywhere, Revenants waiting for you.
@corvette2446 you also mention to him. if it wasn't for games like doom in the early 90's there would be not first person shooters like we have, so the kid can take his cod and battlefield and shove it up his ass lol
This music fit the Monster Condo level so perfectly. Most of the level was dark, with pools of flickering light here and there. The monsters were often hidden behind false walls and platforms, so when you first hit the level, there were no monsters to be seen. Just darkness, flickering lights, and this music. Awesome.
This music for me is great for that cold, rainy days, when you're at home, an off-work day, your house is nicely warm, you can sit on your chair while serving youself with a good cup of hot chocolate while looking through the window and watch placidly the snow/rain falling outside...
If ever words were spoken Painful and untrue I said I loved but I lied In my life All I wanted Was the keeping Of someone like you As it turns out Deeper within me Love was twisted and pointed at you ... ATWA!!!!! What? Sounds nothing like ATWA!
It makes me feel like the beginning of the song "ATWA" from System Of A Down... The same feeling... Air... Trees... Water... Animals... Aaaaaaaaaaaatwaaaaaaaaaaaaa... (¤_¤)
This is the most mind-blowing surreal sense of any DOOM map/music combination. I dunno what it was, maybe it's because I was little when I first played it, but the atmosphere... is just incredible. I preferred it when I didn't know this track was based on anything.
The map itself, man. The wide-open, yet secluded, dark, pseudo-indoor atmosphere with the winding bookshelves and reading rooms... so surreal. I feel like I need to play it right now.
The level Monster Condo had this erudite music and lots of bookshelves. I wanted to sit down and read something, but then all these illiterate assholes turned off my reading lights and I got pissed.
@bowm0 Hell yeah, they had been retarded. The Doom game is good for your health :-) Also the doom's walkthroughts are good brain trainer, because sometimes it's was just too hard to find any way to get out from the level or just find a key (like in map19, I take about a week to find this shitty key in castle! Those times I don't know that's need only 2 keys to get escaped, lol :P )
Does anyone know what John Romero is doing right now? I know after he left ID, he went and made his own company or something, but does anyone know what happened to him? Great song btw. I wish I was there to see Romero play, especially before there was sound effects, it sounds kinda funny how he made his own sound effects. Lol. Don't stop playing, Romero!
this music is so mysterious and in the some time makes you feel that the evil surrounds you...you are armed only with the barrel shotgun and you face the legion of demons....
Man i had a dream one time that i woke up and in our backyard, there was a HUGE cyberdemon. i was scared as crap, having nothing to but hide in the closet. then i woke up sweating
Because the levels weren't by iD Software. And Plutonia was made by some other guys who were really popular in the Doom mapping community.
yeah I had that feeling too... for now it's connected with Monster Condo level but if I didn't play Doom and heard this, I would imagine dark victorian era libraries, museums and such
It's said that the inspiration for this song was to create a song with a very pensive sound to it. It kind of makes you think. Like if hell, or any equivalent nightmare realm had a lobby where you would wait, it would sound like this, lol.
Simply play some wads like Hell Revealed and Scythe. Whilst there is alot of 'slaughter a room full of monsters' in these wads, there is also often 'imp teleports behind you, you turn round...ARGH!!!' moments. :)
An interesting take on Pantera's This Love. That song was great, but this song has a more.. smooth vibe to it, while Pantera's projects more spite and energy.
Ironically, whenever I listen to this song, I can't help but envision the dead corpse of someone deeply despised, hung with a rope by their neck, their legs missing, twitching in the cryptic caverns.
I never thought of this as a scary song even when i was young. It always reminded me of libraries and old victorian houses with thier books and fancy woodwork.
