I had this song played for my wife at our wedding reception. I dedicated it to her. All the old folks were shocked a little bit - but hell, it was good for them to hear something different.
I had a Vegas stripper dancing to an eight minute version of this song, in a club. I was hypnotized from the first second until long after the song ended. I'll never forget good old whats her name. I'll never forget what she did to me.
Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man. Ian is my man.
I remember when this album came out. The fashion in music around that time wer the MTV Unplugged records that started with Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney and then virtually every band. I tink The Cult just saw that trend, showed it the middle finger and released an album called "Electric", with this song as it first single. Hell yeah!
cool rythmn section... it has a typical dance rock feel in it... or should i say a madchester sound on it... with heavier voice and heavier guitar on it...
This video reminds me to the cemetery scene in Easy Rider...and they are kind of crazy ...they even laugh between tombstones !... why not after all... those kind of places needs more crazy joys and not only tears...just a celebration from a life to another life... cool and subversive video
yeah, saw them in 2000 or so in new york city in the roseland ballroom...kick ass show.. got my leather pants on...some coke...bet your ass that it was a great night..
When you need 2+ guitarists to do what one could do easily there is obviously a big difference in talent. GNR was great until Slash left. Now I wouldn't invite them to play at my cousin's birthday party.
On the other hand The Cult was good as long as they had Ian and Billy the only two constant members.
These guys rehashed the Cure, AC/DC, plus others and made it better. I'm going to Google them I haven't heard of them in ages. Last of the great LA bands really. They bury Guns 'n Poses. They should do a revival.
@kern0099 British living in or at least largely based there in their heyday. You couldn't go to any club or party around Hollywood without running into a member of the Cult in the late 80's early 90's. It was like an LA rock mania that lasted even after Nirvana broke and you stopped hearing about GNR. Anyway, point taken though, they are British.
@Lukith66 Uh, that's where you're mistaken. G'nR never heard an arrangement they couldn't fuck up completely. If there was ever a band who should have listened to their production team, it's them. Oh well, good window dressing though.
@Lukith66 Well...maybe revival was a poor choice of words. They should do a marketing blitz and borrow the money for it, keep their same touring and production budget, since the performances are sound on both fronts. Just get their name out there again...what would you call that? People are so tired of new shit bands and there are still guys like this floating around. I think it's a no brainer to go and see their gig, but then punters don't know, do they?
I heard this song first time in 1994, it sounded rare to me and I though WTF is this? But after 3 plays, and years, and concerts, I can say that its one oft their live hits they play with Lil Devil, Sun King and others 15 songs !!!
Very helpful girlfriends in the video! Tune is from Cool World soundtrack, I cannot believe this success inspired them to do the "The Cult" CD.
Then again Bob Rock can make a train wreck of anything...
Still this song sounds great live, has a real sexy groove to it. You know I think the Cult are really at their best when they are not trying too hard to be this or that.
Three rocks, a fragment of bone, chinese noodles, a coherent national dental plan. (katalina translates) Things that have nothing to do with each other.
I knew a dude that said he was a Warlock and could predict the future. I kicked him in his nads and he doubled over in pain. He never saw that shit comin I tell ya....
@pinworms70 - Dude was obviously a fucking idiot. Any Warlock worth his cloak & hat doesn't have any need to brag. Sorcery & clairvoyancy are two very different things. A warlock won't see an assailant coming anymore than a clairvoyant could turn you into a toad. It's the Mathematicus who's truly dangerous....
@fuknukll - (stupid character limit). The Mathematici break the entire universe down to equations, thus are able to fuck with things big time - couple that with the amorality & cold callous approach of reductionist science &/or a sociopath, that's one dangerous mo-fo. I'm just a mere mortal, but I thought you could use some info'.....
I love this song too! My only complain is that it sounds like it was recorded kinda muffled....like Im hearing it thru a wall on another room...(I have it from a soundtrack album and its the only muffled song). I want to blast the guitars and trebles like all my rock music.
