We all know that Catholicism is a dying religion in Developed World. Atheists, along with Protestants, Muslims, and Jews, took pride of attacking them, and the college students who were "raised in Catholic" will describe themselves like martyrs and victims of Pedophiles.

Now the Papal Church can only control those banana republics like Philippine and Nicaragua, and try to look for more followers outside Europe. Let's see what is going to happen next.

And yes many did do it however in the larger picture its unfair to blaim all the Clergy and nuns for what is in number although shocking a small amount compared to the world wide number of priests.

The root of this problem is not (only) religion, it is the tendency in people to follow 'authority' "He's the priest, and if that's what he says is right you believe it."

This has been going on for hundreds of years, for millenia. It's very probable that pre-Christian religion abused its power as well.
