The situation in Afghanistan is worse. The tragedy is that there were people in FATA who were willing to fight the "Tehreek-e-Taliban", but the indecision on the part of the government (thanks to kicking Musharraf out) delayed actions for almost 2 years.

I think you are trying to look for a solution only in ONE direction even when the predominant evidence points to the other direction.
