  • Went up there the other day, just after the hurricane had blown out, so had unbelievable weather. It was Amazing.

  • I wanna climb that hill up, right now! ;-)

  • Good video, but the gaelic pronunciation of Coire Gabhail and Stob Coire Sgreamhach was shockingly bad! Please do your homework on the place names! Coire Gabhail is pronounced corra gaahl, and Stob Coire Sgreamhach is pronounced stob corra sgreh-ach.

    Cheers!

  • @ronofcam you really think the english have any respect for pronunciation.....they been murdering spelling and pronunciation since they came by boat from europe lol

  • @ronofcam

A good video! And yes, I have heard these mountains pronounced as you have helpfully written them phonetically. But remember that Glencoe is in north Argyll and we have our own Gaelic dialect, now shamefully dying out. The commonly used verb, gabh (to take) is pronounced gav. Therefore Gabhail is roughly Ga-vale, a close enough pronunciation for learners. Bidean is roughly Beach-en.

Look out for a TV programme on BBC Alba (Ala-pa) called Tir is Teanga. Most helpful.
