  • Thank you for uploading these early 1960's songs of Joe South's, for those of us who are rediscovering his songs and music.

  • Wow,this is a classic!First i heard it and it is a good one for a 1962 tune.I have other songs by Joe,Including"Mirror Of Your Mind","Walk a Mile In My Shoes" and "Games People Play".Thanks for sharing!Brainy,Brainman Media

  • I'd give every thing I own to just to have attended one of Joe's old jam sessions or performances. He knew how to make the right melody and "voice" the right lyrics. Go Joe.

  • Great song by a favorite artist of mine.

Anyone agree it sounds like it was written with Rick Nelson in mind.

  • This is a great song...but I'm thinking more along the lines of Gene Pitney...

  • THIS IS GREAT!!!

    Shey

  • I have an NRC Joe South CD and on alot of the songs he sounds like this. Some he even sounds less like Joe South, I got in contact with someone who hat worked at NRC and he said that Yes all the songs were Joe. I would say Joe went through alot to find the voice he used on "Games" and later recordings.

  • If i had posted the flipside of this 45, no one would ever believe it was Joe.... but it sure is. It sounds sooooooo different from this side, but still doesn't sound like joe at all...it is straight up country, but it is definitely joe...the guy had a million voices before he found his voice to reach a million people....

  • @TopshelfTom ...actually it was the flip side "Slippin' Around" that i was looking for when i found this, seems it's not available ANYWHERE, if you do have is there any chance of posting?..cheers!

  • @msherer260: I've got the NRC Ray Stevens CD. All of them passed through NRC at some point. They all have the common connection in Bill Lowery. He's the one who is credited with giving them all opportunities to record and play on sessions. Another one from that group of talent was Jerry Reed. They all used to appear on the Georgia Jubilee radio program in the early days of their career.

  • I wish someone would put out a comprehensive early years comp. on Joe South. His "Concrete Jungle" on MGM 1963 is great! He re-recorded it years later and THAT's the inferior version that shows up on CD.

  • great song Tom
