I got into Tool because of World Tour. I had heard about Tool but never made the effort, since none of my friends listen to them either.
The idea of having the different venue was fantastic and might have been the reason why I took real notice of them. With the other songs, they were just charts to me since I was quite good at the game, but playing Vicarious with the visuals, I really felt the music. Which by the way was one of the first songs I learnt on guitar :D

Alex Grey is the man. If he's still doing his thing when I release my first CD, I definitely want to try to get him to do the artwork. What a brilliant mind.
Either way, I'm not a huge fan of Guitar Hero. In fact, I was a little disappointed to find out they put some of their songs on it. Most of my friends are into Guitar Hero, and to be honest, hearing a Tool song on Guitar Hero sort of takes away from the feel of the song. Ruins the song's essence, but maybe that's just me.

Adam uses a pick the VAST majority of the time. And for the most part, it's all very conventional guitar technique. Watch the angle of his wrist, how he moves his picking hand, and the type of motion, if you want that sound. Getting too caught up in his technique will only help you miss the point.
And it's Robert Fripp. Trey Gunn was a Warr Guitar (think Chapman Stick) player for Crimson. Both are awesome. Fripp is revolutionary. Adam would be the first to tell you. Enjoy!

Green Day is completely irrelevent to this video XD And I'm 16 and me and my friends love Tool. In fact I am currently in a band that's a combination of Tool, Korn, Rush, Dream Theatre, Smashing Pumpkins, and Pink floyd with influences from other bands based on our tastes in music. So just because I am 16 doesn't make me musically incompetent. Same goes for Green Day: I used to like green day. Sure,I heard American Idiot first but I enjoy their older stuff more.

I couldn't agree more. I know there is no original human thought (everything we come up with is inspired by somethin else) but damn almost every green day song i here is a direct rip-off from some other artist, from weezer to jonny cash and the rest is just predictable trash.

i absolutely love tool - they're fantastic. brilliant. a mate of mine got guitar hero world tour for xbox (he was also a tool fan). i was looking forward to having a go on some tool tracks... so we did some two player on the songs... and to be frank, they weren't that fun to play. lengthy, quite repetitive and more like an endurance test than fun. i only tryed bass and guitar, so no singing or drums... but in future i think i'd rather just listen to tool and play other songs on GH.

most the people i know that listen to greenday dont seem to care about anything other than simple power chords and simple lyrics that make them flail around like a brainless monkey. i know that music is what you want it to be. my persnal opinion is that greenday has no substance, no talent, and are all marketing. not meant to be listend to but meant for record executives and marketing people to make money off of.

every1 has their own taste in music. i think greenday sucks because their music sounds terrible to me and i dont think they inspire me lyrically emotionally musically or intellectually. or any other way. its just corporate rock, like nickleback, 3doors down, the jonas brothers etc. tool for the most part doesnt sell out for fame or money their music sounds amazing and maynard does a gd job of applying scientific theories and facts into his lyrics. it mkes me feel gd knowing other pple have depth

i absolutely love tool - they're fantastic. brilliant. a mate of mine got guitar hero world tour for xbox (he was also a tool fan). i was looking forward to having a go on some tool tracks... so we did some two player on the songs... and to be frank, they weren't that fun to play. lengthy, quite repetitive and more like an endurance test than fun. i only tryed bass and guitar, so no singing or drums... but in future i think i'd rather just listen to tool and play other songs on GH.

they wrote lateralus in fibancci.i agree with you, if your willing you can learn alot about yourself through acid but you have to be ready for where your mind is gonna take you. might be frightening if your not open and biased. if someone does it i would recommend them being relaxed and non judgemental and just enjoy the ride.

Why are there always people saying Green Day, in specific, sucks and Tool rules. Is it because Maynard said they suck in an interview I saw, once? I happen to like both bands and find them to be so different in genre they're not that comparable. Tool are definitely better musicians but Green Day aren't bad, imo. Different strokes.
I do wish they'd do a professional filming of their concerts. It's the internet age. Some one is going to record it. And they'd have creative control.

Tool's Personal Life's and Ideals Are Not Mainstream. There Music on the other hand is. Tool Clothing at Hot Topic. Tool Songs on the Radio, Tool Songs in Gh4, Mainstream is not Necessarily a bad thing. yeah,he is actually working on a facility in upstate NY that will house his works and called CoSM..he needs volunteers to help him refurbish the donated building and construct the landscaping..i plan on heading that way shortly,hopefully being a part of something truly great...CoSM will be a sort of universal spiritual mecca for introspective minds and will have fullmoon ceremonies,benefits and such throughout the property..i can't wait!!

you must have faith in a select handfull of these kids to grow out of the more superficial musical tastes as a result of Tool's exposure..there will always be the simple minded ones that will gobble up whatever they're fed..but the ones that see,are the genuine articles..there are people who've listened to to Tool for 15+ yrs and still can't see..that is just how well the wool has been pulled over their eyes by advertising and the mass concensus!let the kids grow and help teach them the diff!:)
