  • love that phone and what the fuck does quarrel mean?

  • To this day, after all these years, when I hear that song "Rise" from Herb Albert on the oldie radio station I think of Luke and Laura. That's how much that scene was an impact! Tony Geary and Genie Francis are the best of daytime. That's why soaps are being cancelled, they can't capture the magic they had together.

  • What movie is this?

  • What is this?

  • I think they did an excellent job of finding an actress to play their daughter, is it just me or does LuLu look alot like young laura?

  • not this has anything to do with the actual content but holy crap im glad i missed the 70s and 80s lol

  • 7:13 - Luke, i am yout father.

  • Comment removed

  • what the fuck is this?

  • then went crazy wow , what a person and do to you.hmm

  • O just typed in rape and clicked the first video

  • at least he got laid more than i can say at this moment

  • Hilarious.

  • DERP

  • @BartleyVossipb HILARIOUS AND TRUE!!!

  • People need to shut up. Yeah, it started out messed up. But Luke and Laura had a love that was great.

  • @koukla1204 Thank You!

  • awesome how the two top comments link...

  • 8| ... ( <---that's not shocked,... I'm just trying to make out the view because it was recorded with a toaster-oven )

  • She marries her rapist?? Fucking sick...

  • Luke raped Laura!!!! this is news to me! I thought they were the happiest couple on general hospital!

  • Love at first rape.

  • @karakittle Very true. Plus, the first soap character to have an abortion was Erica Kane on All My Children.

The '70s is when TV began to grow up, and represent the real world, instead of only fantasy. Anyone who would call that time"the dark ages" is severely ignorant!

  • @karakittle "Victims are still today treated the same by society as then." As soon as a black stripper reported that white men from Duke University raped her, the student body held a Take Back the Night march for her. Think that would happen for a stripper in 1979? How many knew what Take Back the Night marches were in 1979? How many rape crisis centers in 1979? How many today? How many hotlines in 1979? Today? Would Cheryl Araujo be questioned the same way today as she was in 1983?

  • I remember watching this back in the day. I was 11 at the time.

  • @karakittle - I never said that cable was in smaller towns and rural areas, which is why I limited my response to NYC. I know that it was not widely available.

  • @karakittle I would not want to be a woman, let alone a rape victim, in America in 1979. If I was raped by a husband and wanted to prosecute him, it would depend on what state it happened in. In most states marital rape was not a crime in 1979. And if I was raped by a stranger and wanted to prosecute him, I would be put on the stand and be asked by the defense what I was wearing and how many sex partners I had had and it would be "evidence". No rape shield laws in 1979. Yes dear "the dark ages".

  • @karakittle You mean Big Balls. hahahahaha

  • Proving once again that women love bad men.

  • Look what you done to me! You made me play terrible disco music!

Loved when they came back and Scotty knocked his out.

  • GOES TO SHOW CHICKS FANTASIZE ABOUT BEING RAPED

  • she crazy now on Y & R!

  • @TheflacidPenis - is t.hat what you tell yourself afterwards? Creepy comment

  • I mean, did she HAVE to run her finger through her hair AFTER she saw that Luke was pissed of and excited. And hammering down the booze. Hello, duh. Get a clue.

  • @SwordofSpirit1 - odd comment - are you saying that the rape was Laura's fault?

  • Comment removed

  • @gfloyd100 Why is your Channel "not available?" I find that truly odd!

  • @SwordofSpirit1 - my channel is available.

  • @gfloyd100 I was joking, but there is some truth to the courtroom that a person can make themselves part of a recipe that creates disaster.

Nobody DESERVES to be RAPED. That's putting words into my mouth and taking it a bit far, don't you think?

  • @SwordofSpirit1 - I didn't put words into your mouth. I asked you a question. It's sometimes difficult to interpret a joke in a post. I don't see the humor in it.

It may be true that in a "court room a person can make him/herself a part of a recipe that creates disaster." This comment also seems to blame victims. Continued...

  • @SwordofSpirit1 (con't) If a woman touches her hair, it maybe considered as a flirtatious gesture, which has no place in a court room. If a person is mugged at a place with a well-known incidence of mugging, it is not presented in the court room as a victim's contribution to a recipe for disaster. The media does not make this leap either. You words exemplify how people believe victims are to blame in rape cases.

  • @gfloyd100 Gheeze.

    1. Nobody deserves to be raped (Laura did not deserve to be raped).

    2. There is such a thing as setting ourselves up for a fall.

    3. I was joking to begin with. Ever heard of the word "facetious" B4?

    4. "in a courtroom" You took us there when you suggested that my comment implied she deserved rape; it was her fault.

5.It's a drama. I had a comment. You make mountains out of molehills!

    6. Go away; Leave me alone, you troublemaking little devil! :-)

  • @SwordofSpirit1 - You're being too sensitive and ridiculous with your one - six response. Don't post if you don't want people to reply. You commented; I replied - get over it.

  • Tell 'em Steve-Dave!

  • Who knew at the time the greatest and most popular super-couple would be born from this?

  • So he rapes her, then she dates him, then she marries him! Laura was beyond blond.

  • @mewhor it's a bit more complicated than that and an extremlely long story.

  • @karakittle yeah I agree.

  • "LukeRapesLaura" I'm sure he was just "keyed up" that day or something! Then in '81 or so they married. If that doesn't show the redemptive power of love, what does? Todd?!! - This was B4 I started watching GH, 1983-86 I was a regular viewer.

Soon to be ABC's only soap. Which is maybe more about the time slot than anything, (less competition). AMC, OLTL were my favorites for a longer time. I've not watched ANY recently. Still, "the death of the soaps", quite sad. Y&R-dominance? Quite sad!!

  • James Franco has talked about how soaps are a unique art form: Moment to moment interaction, character development, the immediacy of each scene etc.

Seems it's not that the soaps didn't make SOME profit... it's just that they didn't make enough. Damn profit hungry networks!

Daytime programming left to versions of The View and syndicated shows like Inside Edition, Dr Oz... - Celeb-slam-notebooks and Daytime Info-mericals.. basically. (Adult form/versions of Romper Room and Cap. Kangaroo!) F-'em!

  • @karakittle Tha is so sick to say LOL

  • @karakittle That is so sick to day.

  • so she married him because of stockholm syndrome?

  • Why The Fuck These Kinda Videos Are Lame, CUT THE CRAP Man n Just Show Us The Apple Of This Video ..

  • Oh my God ... a ROTARY phone

    *giggles*

  • WOW!!!!! Lulu looks just like a young Laura its insane:)

  • @ash86marie No, lulu is not naturally pretty.

  • @ash86marie - I don't see it. Genie Francis was asked about whether or not she thought that Julie Berman looked liked her, and Genie said, "No."

  • I read some vulgar language was cut out, and it was more violent but that was cut too people that see this have to understand this is real heavy subject matter especially for the 70's not to mention Laura's character attracted a very young audience.

  • Sorry fans NOT fand

  • Keep in mind this was 1979 ppl. Those under 40 will never understand, anymore then most of us over 40 understand you're tv today. This is NOT a put down, just tv was sooooo different then, and you had to know the WHOLE story. They had been playing cat & mouse BEFORE the rape for months. I hate that most L&L fand forget this FACT, we were running home from school to watch these 2 BEFORE the rape.

  • @KiraKisa100 It was an awful time. Back in 1979 - in the dark ages - a girl couldn't initiate or "consent" to sex because if she did she was a pariah. In other words, a woman had to be raped in order to not feel guilty about having "sex". I am SO glad I didn't grow up in 1979.

  • @SpiritTwilight That's not true, it was the 1970s not the 1870s! Women were very sexual, when I was a kid it seemed like all the grown ups were getting it on! Scarred for life, ha ha.

  • @edithbunkerz Then please go onto Amazon and correct all the commentators on romance novels who say that ones written in the 1970s had rape because readers would not accept pre-marital sex in any other form.

  • @SpiritTwilight Think about who the readers might have bee, that does not include everyone on earth! It was a sexual time in the 70's and anyone who says differently is not old enough to know.....remember how people act in public, isn't always how they are behind closed doors.

  • @SpiritTwilight - "A woman had to be raped to not feel guilty about having sex???" Where did you learn that? If you believe what you posted - you are ignorant. In many states, 17-year-old girls still cannot consent to sex - have you heard of statutory rape. You have no idea what you are talking about.

  • @gfloyd100 No YOU don't know what YOU are talking about. I was voicing the backwards thinking of people back in 1979. Back then people thought that if a woman did it with one guy she'd do it with any guy. People thought the only way for a woman to "have sex" and still be "virtuous" was if she was raped. In other words, the producers of this show thought if Laura consented to having sex with Luke, viewers would think Laura was a "loose" woman and wouldn't like her.

  • @SpiritTwilight You wrote your post as if it were your opinion about women, consent, sex, and rape. You didn’t write the post as if it were society’s ‘backward opinion’ of the subject. From the way the post is written, how is a reader to discern that it’s not your opinion, but rather society’s opinion? Continued…

  • @SpiritTwilight - Continued:

Your post would have been clearer had you written it more like your response to me. Your use of the word “people” means that you are telling readers that it’s what people thought during that ‘backward time’, not what you thought.

  • @SpiritTwilight It's worse being a young woman these days. There is so much pressure for a woman to look a certain way these days it's ridiculous. Women in those days had more self respect . You must be really young to consider 1979 the dark ages. You have a lot of growing up to do little girl.

  • @ClassicTVful Hmmm...pressure to look good, but rape is taken seriously VS not so much pressure to look good, but rape victims were blamed in public, harrassed in court, and named/shamed by media. Gee, that's a really tough choice. YOU have a lot of WISING up to do...old lady.

  • @KiraKisa100 - people were running home to watch Scotty and Laura before the rape.

  • Respond to this video... Some people over 40 who watch TV today do understand TV today, but just don't like it and/or agree with how woman......are portrayed. They really weren't playing cat and mouse before the rape - even if they were, it's not an invitation to rape. You are clueless.

  • Luke says it was a brutal rape, and Laura acts like it is at the time, but the writers had to backtrack on that, didn't they? Somehow it morphed into Laura allowed him to have sex with her because she had feelings for him. strange. But the season from when the music starts is rivoting!

  • A DIAL phone... really? Do any of you youngins remember those??

  • Luke and Laura the first the best tv romance EVER.

  • so sad.

  • Horrible rape scene but Luke had damn good taste in music!

  • is this when laura gets pregnant with lucky?

  • @19touyuber Noooo. Laura got pregnant with Lucky in 1984. after they were married. Lucky was born out of love not rape.

  • @jasoncarly No such thing.

    There is only rape.

    Rape..

    RAPE. O_O

  • @PriorityOfVengence Yes I totally agree but what was so compelling about this story was that the rapist had remorse and the raper forgave him and they became friends again and then fell inlove. People act like she fell for him Right after he raped her it wasn't like that. What made me mad was they trying to rewrite history and call it seduction but rape is rape and I am glad they cleared that up in 98 after Liz got raped and they called it what it was. Its not like Luke.

  • @PriorityOfVengence Just grabbed her from behind and attacked her. He was out of his mind and drunk that night thinking he was gonna die and he forced himself on her but realized what he had done was sorry for it. He appologized to her and he didn't stalk her and taught her like most rapist do when they haven't been caught. Aquaintance Rape is the most complicated because she thought since she knew him she might have encouraged him in some way but Luke even admitted it..

  • @PriorityOfVengence Wasn't her fault and she didn't deserve it. She was able to forgive him because he really was sorry and she knew things got out of hand that night. As she got to know him better after that, then she fell for him and she didn't name him at first because she was in shock and couldn't believe what had happened and that someone she knew was capable of that and was questioning whether she had encouraged him in some way and some part of her didn't want

  • @PriorityOfVengence To see him go to jail cause they were friends before. The whole thing was complicated and made for good story, this wasn't your typical guy rapes girl story and that is what made their love story so compelling to watch and why they had the most viewers then any soap watching their 81 wedding.

  • @PriorityOfVengence I meant the rappee not raper.

  • remember the days when dialog sucked?

  • @Kigorusan - yup - that would be current tv programs now.

  • The dialogue is so campy, it's impossible to take this seriously. "I said I was gonna be dead - KILLED, LITTLE LADY!!!" "In my business that's dangerous, BABY!!!" - LMAO... LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

  • happy music!

  • what is this? looks well funny

  • Remember watching this in college dorm, we all skipped class...to watch this..

    crapola! LOL

  • This is when television was good, no cable . . . just good old television.

  • @AveIvy - actually cable did exist back then.

  • @gfloyd100 Uh, if I recall . . . when this aired, the only thing available that mimicked cable was Z network or maybe black box HBO. No cable. But whatever.

  • @AveIvy - Cable existed NYC.

  • ... and they lived happily ever after!

  • @karakittle

Look on the bright side. It could have been worse. It could have been Chuck Mangione's "Feel So Good".

  • Laura may not have minded if it had been somebody else--like David Soul or some other hot guy from that era. Not much of a Luke fan-- the music is torture enough.....

  • Geez...Luke's always been one of my fav characters, but was there ever a time he DIDN'T use alcohol to forget his problems?!

  • that damn scotty... he should've been on time

  • oh sexual assault, the foundation for lasting romance in daytime television.

  • I guess there really is panic at the disco. Not to be insensitive lol

  • um this may be the dumb question of the week but, what exactly is Luke supposedly dying from? and who is gonna kill him??? im seriously lost on this one.

  • Wow, that was really twisted how the writers changed that and made it into a romance. I didn't remember that scene but I'd heard that was what happened. Nowadays we'd clearly call him a crazy stalker and say run like h e double hockey sticks. That's pretty sick.

  • I forgot all about this fact but I was addicted to this show. I was like 3 though...or else I would have had a problem with that. Okay, but it was still ultimately a great story

  • Wow! There's some memories...

I used to come running home from the bus stop after school to watch Gen. Hospital and see Luke, Laura and the others get it on. They were so sexy!... and daring.

I was like 10 years old... Sittin' there with a soda pop in one hand, a cigarette in the other and my heart pumping fast. I looked on with interest as the whole gang sang, danced and chased each other 'round and 'round.

  • Luke had a big fat cock

  • ewww. he raped laura?

  • Wow-- This is serioulsy creepy, I just can't get over the fact that millions of people LOVE WATCHING THERE LOVE STORY

What is wrong with people?! This is messed up, she married her rapist SHE MARRIED HER RAPIST

  • @RobotMice EXACTLY! She was clearly saying, "NO!" as in get the f-- off! I didn't know he raped her! THis is disgusting!

  • I remember watching this when I was a teen and wishing Luke would rape me. He was dreamy. I was so jeleous when he married that b*tch. LUKE you married the wrong girl, she will never make you happy. Call me.

  • @kikicreamify your sick

  • @RobotMice Oh really? I'm the sick one? 30 million Americans watched Laura marry the man who raped her, and you call me the sick one?

What about the show producers, the network, the writers, the actors, or the 30 million people who watched the wedding? And you have the nerve to call me sick?

If you couldn't tell I was being sarcastic you idiot

  • @kikicreamify Thats a bad argument, I mean the holocaust had 1000 supporters doesn't make it right

Just the fact 30 million people watch makes it even moe creepier HE RAPE HER and she married him? Don't you see how wrong this is

  • @RobotMice You also need to learn how to spell. It is "you're" not "your."

  • I remember watching this the day it aired and I was like WTf?? Did this really happen..

GH, was such a classic soap opera.. I quit watching it and all soaps,20 years ago. they just lost there magic!

  • OH MAN, DISCO RAPE. needs to be made into a song "Rape on the dancefloor"

  • This is one disgusting story line. It always has been. That it is cherished by some 'fans' is nauseating.

  • I always hated that she ended up falling in love with and marrying her rapist. This can only happen in a soap opera. :(

  • she married her rapist?! wtf!

  • Luke's hot!!!

  • wow... i didnt know this... and hated luke before, so this is not helping him...

  • Stay away from the mob.

  • SHE MARRIES HER RAPIST!! ITS AN SVU EPISODE!

  • This scene/situation will always go down in Soap Opera History..................it was one of a kind like the "Karen Wallek Trial" with Judith Light on "One Life to Live".

  • how in the hell can luke rape laura i thought they were soulmates u dont get raped by your soulmate!!!!

  • You guys do realise he's probably under the influence?

  • @yadayadayadabla - what's your point? If he were drunk, it would still be rape.

  • the acting is so bad I dont even feel bad he raped her

  • @Fedor4Eva - ummm, you do know that it's fiction, right? Genie Francis is a great actress - she is 17 years old in this scene with no acting lessons.

  • being raped to disco music how awful

  • uh...how do u fall in love with ur rapist? im just saying. laura is more wacky than luke imo.

  • what the fuck it is?

  • this scene was the beginning if a beautiful romance she forgave him and fell in love with him thats that.and thats the individuals choice.

  • @rwodea Yes she forgave him people are so quick to forget that. They had one bad night and the romance didnt happen right after the rape anyway it was over time come on now!!!

  • He always called her baby innit, i think its cute but not in this scene as we know he 'rapes' her ( i say it like that, as I know there is some speculation as to whether it was rape) personally if it wasnt consented then its rape. However we cant judge the two characters, luke for raping her and laura for forgiving him, she did and thats that.

  • What is up with 8:24? Was that in the original?

  • @Lby54229

Yeah, that was from another scene with Ann Logan & Joe Kelly kissing.

  • this gives hope to all the rapist out there

  • @LionDen8 You may just be joking but the sad thing is, you're probably right.

  • well he told her to go home and idk wats wrong with meh bhut i keep watchin soap opera rapes weird??

  • I don't have a rape fetish or anything, but I was expecting more than that.

  • @Attitude29018 I think for 1979 this probably was a lot and actually was too much for day time tv.

  • @Attitude29018 hahahahahaa

  • @Attitude29018 Rape is rarely shown on TV, so for it be put on a soap opera in 1979 was controversial.

  • hahhaa, he had to cue the porno music before he did it

  • Comment removed

  • The song is called rise

  • wow

  • Remember when The Dark Knight came out, everyone was captivated by Heath Ledger as the Joker? Well, Tony Geary as Luke Spencer had exactly the same essence ("agent of chaos") and the same astonishing subversive effect on popular culture.

  • sound is off but still good :D

  • Remember how long it took to make a call in a hurry on those phones!! Don't make a mistake or else you're dialing all night!

  • Dance with me Laura! For all my Gh fans...

  • I soo remember this when I was a kid. She played a lot of games with him, not justifying, but she was a tease. Scotty was too boring, and she really liked Luke.

  • @atlasshrugged2u ..wow...you suck..to even have to write "not justifying" makes you suck...I don't care if all the women (or men)walk down the freaking street naked NO ONE ever has any right to rape...there is no such thing as a tease...a tease is what is in one's own mind..it's your own lack of control...have some self control and oh I'm sorry but what is that other thing, I can't remember, hold on,it's oh yes,oh yeah RESPECT for another human being.

  • @Jocosity70 Your very naive. "If somebody walked down the street naked"? right, ok...You sound like an idiot.; that's not the real world sweetheart.

Like I said they ended up getting married and the writers obviously wanted you to know that Luke was forgiven and redeemed himself. Grow the hell up!

  • @atlasshrugged2u ..say what you want, to even write she was a tease makes you an animal..and don't call me sweetheart you creep. Let's see how you react when you or your loved one gets rape..will you say oh it's ok you know you really liked him...you are a CREEP..ewww you make me sick ..stay away..

  • @Jocosity70 Awww I love you too LOL!!

whatever asshole, don't wite me at all then, No one told you to comment in the first fucking place!

  • @atlasshrugged2u ...oh God..bad grammar to boot..oh boy..would you just go..where are my tax dollars going..isn't there a lights out at the prisons??? how are you still up...

  • @Jocosity70 You want me don't you, (you know you do) that's why you keep writing me back LOL!!

Well I am heterosexual, meaning "I don't go that way" but If I did, I still wouldn't give you a call LOL!!

Get a life SWEETHEART!! (I'm at work btw) it's called a night job.

  • @atlasshrugged2u ..yes night job..that explains it all..while you should be working, you are playing online..dude if you worked for me, I'd fire ya..dude stop playing while at work..I so hope nothing of any importance is under your responsiblity while you play on Youtube lol...oh wait no, we're good..some one else is guarding the lettuce..whewwww..I got worried there

  • @Jocosity70 LOL Your hilariuos! I almost like you... your like an irritating puppy who just keeps seeking attention and pissing on the rug. Hey seriously, let's be friends huh, what do ya say? let's just patch things up and let by gons be by gons...NOT!!

Write me back though I'm starting to look forward to all this attention. You know, for someone who disgusts you you sure won't leave me the hell alone will you?

  • @atlasshrugged2u ..ok fine, I'll play nice..geees,so out of character for me but ok..but boy, don't ever say tease again..lol

  • @Jocosity70 Yeah it's outta character for me as well If you can believe that!

I came into work so evil tonight that you were the first person I lashed out at...sorry, sincerely.

As far as the "Luke and Laura" situation, I have five brothers and as their only sister Iv'e seen girls play games and get away with it and it just affects me differently than it does the average woman

Sorry If I offended you (smile)

  • @atlasshrugged2u ....games are game...rape is something else..yeah ok fine, I took the topic to extreme.but you know

  • @atlasshrugged2u Yeah, being a tease is a TOTALLY okay reason to rape a chick.

  • @FuriousStrength If that's what you got from my comments then whatever dude
