  • Yes, that is a real level in a hack probably made using the Super Mario World editor Lunar Magic, aqcuired from FaSoYa's Niche site.

    There's tons of hacks and many have automatic levels. Most Japanese auto levels I've seen have a level with the sound effects of hitting blocks, enemies, getting coins, items, Yoshi, etc. synced to some song and looks and sounds really neat.

    Nice job on this stage, daigam! ^_^

  • If the player recorded this using snes9x (and from the look of it, I'm sure they did), the movie recorder still has some bugs with the sound going out of sync. Seems the movie recorder bugs won't be fixed yet because another fix for another bug is what causes it to go out of sync.

    It'll be fixed eventually, just not till the more important things are fixed.

    Other vids that are in sync using snes9x were loaded into an editor and resynced manually.

The end boss...huh...if the only dose that then yes this level is real but...if Lunar Magic can't change the pattern to that OR...if its totaly random...then...hmmm...well it seems real and not edited so..its in the 90% real area. Also I guess you could keep doing this till it did work out...wow.

  • Well...to make a level like that would be super hard but possable...also...the hit rate in video games are odd...but I get your point...still...hmmm well Find the rom and try it...not sure what it is though.

  • I've played the original SMW rom and you definately can not get as far into the obstacles as they are in that level. I have no idea if they changed how the obstacles work or what but it gives the level a very "fake" feeling to it. The design is great, the whole getting through it without moving is great, etc etc...BUT...it just seems to lose something when you can pass through an obstacle like that.

  • He fell off yoshi the moment he would have got the hit...if you add in the laggy sound it dose work like that. Once you figure out when it really dose happen.

    Now...can Mario get back ONTO yoshi that quickly and still continue the game looking like he did not do it? Then this opens someone added the "yoshi" hit sound effect.

    And I played SMW...real...so I know some...but not everything.

    More % to realness.

  • Mario's hitbox didn't touch the spike balls. This is how the physics of SMW work. You can go that far in. If me had moved a pixed more, he'd die.

  • TNXcrew: He did not change the sprites to spin-jump the rainbow shell at 1:08, but because it is a rainbow shell that tracks you, you do not stop it when landing on it - spin-jumping may crush it though.

  • he did changed the sprites so you cant see he is walking himself like in 1:08 were he jumps teh shell, w/o spinning jump you die thats kinda gay. but still a GREAT vid!!! 5stars

  • he didn't change sprite animation, he just made the floor slippery as ice. remember those original levels with ice?

  • I never realized the boss of that level moved in a predictable pattern

  • Technically, a video game isn't truly "random". Provided nothing the user can affect changes, everything else will run exactly the same 10 times out of 10. If, for example, the user had pressed, say, down at any point during the boss fight, the pattern might have changed. It's hard to say what input causes which changes though.

    Suffice it to say, it only worked because it's automated. You wouldn't (easily) do that in normal play.

  • I sort of assumed that sort of randomization would have something to do with an internal SNES clock, which I know would reset when you turned it off, but the time spent on the overworld map would change that time to time. I guess I'm wrong, or he got around it, or it doesn't matter here.

  • Except that the SNES doesn't have an internal clock. :P And it's hard to say what affects what in any game, but I guess in this case overworld time doesn't change anything.

  • Well, I can say that a few times i've played a few games using savestates, and generally if you do the exact same thing again, the same things will happen without a doubt, but most games will be randomized based on exactly when something happens. If you mess with that, you'll be able to change fate. I think you can do that with tetris, for starters.
