@DerFeindr Nazis? Nazis committed genocide or systematic killing of human beings, Mesoamerican people did it for religions and was practice both by Tlaxcalans Zapotecans and Totonacs and Mexica in "Mock wars" where the created wars to take warriors for sacrifice. ALso the ball game the winners would be sacrificed.. your argument fails very bad.. do extensive research ;)

When the spaniards came they saw bloodthirsty devil worship and human sacrifice. The practices of the indians were extemely bloodthirsty and grotesque. Who wouldn't think that these practices were primitive and evil. What the spaniards did was bring God to a culture which flayed each other alive and used their skin as drums. The indians would sacrifice each other in tens of thousands and rivers of blood flowed from the tops of their pyramids.
@FOLKFIDDLER14 so u know wat the spanish did? the slaughtered them. they practically massacred an entire civilization, not exactly christian like now is it, look back at history look at how the christians have brought crhist to heathens barbarians and uncivilized peoples, the result was always misery. terrible things have been done to people in the name of god, so u cant say wat the spannish did was good, and i do know wat im talking bout as i myself am Catholic.
@shiyboy4 Dude, you don't understand... the Mexicas actually killed people for their gods, sometimes hundreds of them, taking their hearts out of their chest... try to picture that... and of course they didn't sacrifice their own people (well mostly), no, they killed Tlaxcalans, Zapotecans, Totonacs and people from other tributary states. Do you think these people actually felt bad when they saw the opportunity freeing themselves from the meso-american equivalent of nazis... ?
@DerFeindr Ritual sacrifice was practiced all throughout Mesoamerica. All of the groups you named practiced it too and if you actually read the grievances of the other tribes, as recorded in what codices we have, you will see that they were upset about the Mexica's excessive tribute demands, not sacrifice.
@AdrianAnansi Well, of course ritual sacrifice was practiced in other cultures, even in more gruesome ways, but indeed, the combination of everything the Mexicas demanded and the humiliation other states went through was the stone that cracked the pot.

@Wolfen443 Well, the Mayans didn't sacrifice people like that, the Aztecs did... The Mayans didn't sacrifice people as massively as the Mexicas, and when they did, they threw virgins into "cenotes" (deep water filled caverns abundant all over the Yucatán peninsula). Mayan sacrifices normally consisted of animals or just bloodletting.
@DerFeindr, I forgot how long I posted something on this video. I do not even remember what I said, but the film could have been used as both Aztec in the Sacrifice aspect and Mayan in the breakdown of the last years of the Mayans. I agree that the sacrifice scene is more Aztec than Mayan for sure, At least we can say that they were more faitfull than the selffish fanatical ly grredy Spanish thatt took over their territories. Where can I find older less "hololywood" types films about it?.
do modern tlaxcalans call themselves aztecs? arent they mexicans as well? there are so many different tribes in mex that to call all mexicans aztecs is negating everybody else its like calling all the natives in usa apaches doesnt make sense but this has to start in mexico
Actually, studies show that the most attractive people are the people who look the most "averaged" in the face (mixed race, right?). Therefore, and in my opinion, Mexican girls are pretty good looking because they are part Spanish and part Amerindian. Cool movie, good story and action but historically inaccurate. Peace.
who says these people are ugly.. i think the are beautiful... im atratcted by the mexican girls that are decenden of native cultures... but i dont like white girls.. i think they are ugly.
alot of people think that mayan and aztec are the same think... they are diferent cultures that lived in mexico.. we the mexican are decendent of the aztec , mayan and spanish... i havent seen that movie , but i thought it was a mayan movie , not an aztec movie.
They call their Sun-God "Kukulkan". Its the mayan name for the god, who was called "Tonatíu" by the aztecs... lol braven117... ur foolery is pretty amusing! xD

lesson # 5 The indians are the fucking ugly face of México
lesson # 6 After "la noche triste" Cortes returned to avenge his fallen comrades crushed all the indians who killed spaniards, marked their faces with a hot piece of iron like cattle and enslaved them.
@braven117 Cortes didn't do a shit. He just cried like a little girl and then returned with shitloads of tlaxcalans, only to find the Aztecs were already dying from smallpox and other diseases they brought with them from Europe...
When I watch this movie, was absolutely certain that they were aztcs Knigths. But historical precision there's not in this movie.
Apocalypto is about the Mayans. Not the Aztec. Youre also using the Aztec episode of Ancient Warriors. Everyone knows the Aztec were always way better than the Maya. That's why they don't have a movie.
The movie is not entirely incorrect. the mayas were not the pacific time-watchers some early wannabe historians portrayed them as. They were also warriors as bloody as the aztecs and also performed the same ritualistic human sacrifices. They had to be some kick-ass warriors to become the civilization that lasted longer in mesoamerica.
