Definitely true! Did you ever check out the English band Felt? There's definitely more than a little Television influence there say, for instance, in a song like "Crystal Ball" or "Whirlpool Vision of Shame".
@andersoncouncilpf You're right, this album should be motherfucking 1. One of the catchiest, most lyrically brilliant albums I have ever heard. Not to mention it's an old ass 70s album. I'm guessing you're the type of person that rushes through 20 albums a day, listening once then never revisiting. Skimming through classics without an ounce of respect. People like you disgust me. This album is a lot more important than the time you set aside to listen to it.
I just purchased 2 Rancid(s), Lynyrd Skynyrd (sp?) 'Live at Fillmore East', The Flaming Lips 'Yoshimi...Robots', the Swans 'Soundtrack...Blind', 2 Gayglo Abortions cd's, and like lots of music over the years since the 'British invasion', basically. 1977's good albums: 'The Clash', The b52's', 'Even In The Quietist Moments', 'I Robot', Never Mind The Bollocks, etc. are good albums. I listened to every track on M.M. It doesn't improve with subsequent listenings.
STUNNING, SIMPLY PERFECT! It's always been my favourite track in the Television arsenal. The guitar coda is sublime, & the rhythm section like the proverbial duck's arse - tight or what?!
Pitchfork (media's) #3 album of the 1970's. Wow, do they ever have their head's up their asses!!!!!!! This album isn't even (at least) mediocre. Ugh! Regardless, thanks for posting it to listen to.
@sloanmidwestXTC Yes, true, it's my favorite Marquee Moon track, but it seems we're a minority amongst Television fans. Weird, such a moving piece of music
@Stof31 I love it too... but I cant choose a favourite track from such a perfect album. When I first heard the album some 20 years ago, I found this to be my least favourite but my inmature, teenagy ears werent ready for that insane guitar solo... How can anyone come up with that. iTS NOT EARTH MUSIC....
First listening. My favorite tracks are this and Elevation.
