Those were the days,as someone quite rightly said these great 60s songs are still being played`,the proof of the pudding is still in the eating` 50 years later and they will never ever stop being played. What happened to the spice girls I ask?.
I went into my teens and out of my teens in the 60's. A very crazy decade and I wish I could do it all again. I really didn't know how good I had it back then. Everything was so simply back
...my parents worked themselves to early deaths....this was my favourite song growing up so they always called me dreamer....free school dinners and handout clothes from the cottage homes....sometimes I was hungry...but I never stopped dreamin....retired now and after 13000 people working for me I cruise the world..never stop dreamin...and always remember and cherish where you came from and who made your life
We wish we could share the magic of those times with our young, sadly we cannot. We look back on the seasons of promise, our children will look back on the hate filled rap and dark social propaganda of today. How very sad.
@GANNAMEDE ha actually you can. all i listen to is 60s,70s and 80s :D my parents got me into it and I've never looked back. I listen to songs with emotions and all of todays music lacks that!
@GANNAMEDE Well best we can do is keep these songs playing. I'm a 1976 child but my Dad and Grandpa used to listen to these songs. As long as I can still buy them, I'll continue to play them.
I've always noticed that the majority of advertizments still play song like this.
yesssssssssssssss i agree,,,johnnie was a good singer and very good song writer, partnership with his brother,,,,, this really was the R n R era,,, for years we played this song in my band,,,and if i may say we still play this song to this day,,,also diana,,oh carol and countless other great songs and people love it you can see them from the stage, singing along,,,,,,,RIP johnnie we still love you,and your music
One of these days, I'll be cruisin' into a car show in an all original 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air with a hot BIG girl by my side. I'll just keep on "Dreamin'-- 'till my dreamin' comes TRUE"!!
yep, i am 66 ad all i want to do is sit and listen to oldies, i go right back to what i was doing at every song i hear, there are some stories to all these songs and i just adore them and' thank u' for making it possible to click a button and hey presto, like i said... better than having to actually put the record on...do let me enjoy while i can still press a button. i love you all... bibi x x x x
que tiempos aquellos ..no soy de esa e`poca ..pero lo se por parte de mi padre que todavia coleciona .......................cresi escuchando este tipo de musicas que ahora es todo un clasico ....buen oido para los que saben ..............
I'm sorry, but after the Rock and roll Trio, this stuff sounds like a joke... Good for him, he made it, become famous and else but sounds like Pat Boone. This stuff is quite far from rock and roll
I just discovered this song a few minutes ago from one of my friends on Youtube, where has this song been all my life?!?! I now love this song :))) <3
@DarkNaomi well...you have to tell us how old you are and then we can understand how come you didn't know about this song....see if you were 20 years old then it would be ok...but if you were 60 and up, then it would be very hard to understand why you didn't know about the existence of this song...
Recalling this song sang by Johnny brought me a slice of memo that warmed up my heart. One of them was ... me too dreaming at my age being 14 ...haaaa... but who didn't at this age in those days.... hmmmmm
Just a girl when I got this song, but still have the 45 rpm, and still have the memories of a wonderful tune, sung by a wonderful guy, in a the wonderful world of the sixties!
Nice vid, thanks for posting. Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio, very rare Rockabilly album. More rare than Elvis Sun records. I hope he is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he deserves it.
@fran9860 i knowed that, but did you know that johnnys brothers (Dorsey Burnette) sons name is billy, so together their sons names form word " rock-a-billy"
@webaroos I know Johnny Burnett did it the best, but before this in the 50s he was in the Rock n Roll trio and played Rockabilly. Like Train Kept a rollin
@1989ProblemChild Barry devorzon wrote this ,rocky burnette had a problem mike curb was a record biz exec and the lt. govenor of california and he wouldnt let rocky record or out of his contract so he stood in front of his office with a sign saying mike curb is a crook and he let him out of his contract
Last week I bought a compilation CD of oldies which included Johnny singing "Dreamin'"...what a surprise I got when I heard it...they'd put on the actual studio out-takes as well;you can hear the producer(either Snuff Garrett or Ernie Freeman) asking the drummer to "keep it down"...that drummer was Jerry Allison of The Crickets
After dark on August 14, 1964, Johnny’s fishing boat was struck by an unaware cabin cruiser on Clearlake, California. The impact threw him off the boat and he drowned. "Johhny Burnette death site"
This appealed to me as a 16yo, 50 years ago, sweeter words are yet to be written and with great violins filling the background it doesn't get any better.
He had a great voice. My mother loved to dance to this. Such a tragedy, untimely death at no age. I think he would be touched to know people almost 50 years later are still listening to him. A great summer song.
This is one of his 3 major hits. Your Sixteen and Big Big World were in Billboards Top 100. Before he was a singer, Johnny was a successful amatuer Boxer but loved singing Rockabilly type songs with his brother Dorsey Burnette who also made the music Charts. Johnny drowned in a boating accident in 1964 and he is another one of the entertainers who met an untimely death. RIP. Ron
One of the first songs in the sound track of my adolescence. We met at camp when I was 14 and she was 12 with beautiful blue eyes and blond hair. We kissed on the cheek by a huge pine tree before we left camp to go back home. Pure innocence. I sure did a lot of dreamin that summer.
Brings back memories of doing geometry homework late at night back in 1960 while listening to KOMA...(my dad in the background yelling at me to TURN IT DOWN!)
Gonna be honest, I first heard this song on a Disney video [the DTV series released in the 80s]. Became a classic in my house [and quite a few of us still think of Disney's 'Sleeping Beauty' when we hear this].
Thanks for posting. The first time I heard this song we were driving through Lebanon, Pennsylvania. I tuned in a local radio station on the way home to Central PA. I bought the record and played it over and over. Brings back great memories. I agree the violins make this a classic. Was this recorded by Libery records? Many of their songs have violin backups.
man, i'm 14 and i love this music! the music today sucks! its only about money, drugs, guns... nothing positive!! but this music oh! damn! it makes me feel the love to never give up in anything i do! i love this music <3333
Oh my gosh, my first hubby used to sing this to me when I was 17. I found out last year that he died in 2004. He was a physically abusive man. Strange, I remember the good times. We were only married a year and a half. I suppose he had his own demons inside. At 17 I was going to live forever and maybe he was just "Dreamin'.
There is no excuse for physical abuse ,but you dont have to live in the shadow of the past [ that was a song by bobby helms dreamin was written by barry devorzon ] ..
