Kicks doesn't yield greater strength either, that's a stomp but stomp aren't effective in taking on a guarded person. The most hindrance in kicking is it off set your balance which leaves you vulnerable to a sweep or take-down.. Kicking is only effective in keeping your opponent at range.

Most of the kicks are performed by Xing yu, the guy Donnie Yen beat to death in the street hawker scene in flashpoint movie. The only kicks that are performed by nicholas are the close up and wirefu kicks. Xing yu is also the actor for Xie wu shen (last boss) in dragon tiger gate. watch fatal contact to see wu jing vs xing yu, and u will know clearly.

It's got nothing to do with the fact that the guys can't fight, as they are actually pro stuntmen (some of them working for Donnie Yen). The point of the choreography was to showcase Tiger Wong's kicking skills so the opponents are meant to do jack and just get hit.

the reason he uses his legs is becuase he is the "dragon" and donnie yen is the "tiger". i think the roaring sounds make the tiger part easy to see, but in some martial arts the dragon is represented with the legs (the spine and the head are the same and the legs are the tail of the dragon).
