Houston is my hometown. It was this race in 1998 (remember that rainy mess?) that got me into CART. It was too bad that Juan Pablo Montoya (whom I greatly respect) had a miserable 2000 season. I like the newer Houston street course more since it's faster and more fluid all the way around. But these were the days, not only of racing in my hometown, but CART more importantly.
Juan Pablo hit the '99 Contender Franchitti and the '97 Championship contender Mark Blundell took out the '97 rookie of the year Patrick ''Player's'' Carpentier.
I watched this race in houston. They are not the fastest car, but in all aspect they are the best. They handle ecxellent on cornering. Drag race is faster, but speed is no good if it just go straight. Heck the jet powered car broke the sound barier on land. No dragster will ever do that. lol.
Not the fastest, but overall the best handling car in the world. You can do 70mph on one of this thing as you turn a street corner. Try that with a an indy car. lol
