  • This is a stupid song. It is not brilliant, noteworthy or particularly remarkable at all.

  • How selfish can people be when they demand an artist who has been creating and distributing music for over 20 years to stay miserable and angry for the sake of making miserable and angry people "happy"...... it makes me sad that you cant just kick back and appreciate an artist like Ani Difranco for all that she is and represents..... if you want sad and angry go watch another season of COPS!!!

  • "pure science of boom" not "doom"

  • Seriously, if you guys can't see past the piety and poetically-licentious nuclear 'facts' in this song to see the faith and hope that Ani's really singing about, then clearly you don't love her as much as you all pretend to.

  • Does it make me a giant nerd that this song ALWAYS makes me want to point out that electrons do not orbit the nucleus of an atom in the same fashion as planets do suns? That there is a big difference between gravity and weak atomic forces? omg, it does make me a nerd, doesn't it? lol! Damn it! I love this song and Ani regardless. ^_^

  • Were you a truly psychonautical nerd like Ani you would 'withstand' the inherent fractal architectonics of the universe, and subsequently realize that self-similar processes express themselves differently in different domains.

  • What is beyond sight is quarks and leptons is an atom, is a molecule, is a chemical chain, is a cell, is an organ, is a body, is a family, is a community, is a country, is a continent, is a planet, is a colar system, is a galaxy, is a universe, is beyond sight. You've missed the intellectual and spiritual assertions embedded within these lyrics. I suggest a healthy dose of psilocybin mushrooms in lieu of the mechanistic Cartesian paradigm you were circumstantially born unto.

  • Some people are so smart that they are dumb.

  • Quit arguing. Don't judge her. Let her be...I'm a just out of college "frat boy" and I get Ani...She just wants good...let's all unite. The U.S. is not in the best looking sunny position, so we've obviously got to do something different than what we've been doing. Quit complaining, forget arguing, and being right. Lose your ego, find a forest, it never stops growing, ever. Only we can stop from growing.

  • Red Letter Year is absolutely FAN-TAS-TIC! As everything Ani D does! -Cheers!

  • There's nothing wrong with this song. I love this song, and the way it builds up in the middle is pure genius. And I don't blame it all on the baby talk. I just don't like this sunny happy attitude where she's so reflected and everything is fine. For me it feels like she speaks as if she's reached a goal, like it's all said and done. But it's just my opinion. I judge by taste. It's the only way to judge.

  • Bought red letter year yesterday, and it's acyually no her best. It gets a little tedious after the tenth song about how her baby changed her life and made her see things in a different perspective and how everything is ok now that she's a mom. Heard it, boring and expected more from Ani. She's a genius and I adore her. But I expected more.

  • I hear that. I couldn't even bring myself to purchase it from listening to clips online. And I have every cd of hers otherwise.

  • Think of how many albums of hers were born from anger, frustration, sadness and how many years she did not have what she has now. So let her ramble in her happiness for just one album. ;-)

I'm not big on the happy-people singing either. And maybe her next album will be all depressed and angry again. But for the time being, let the woman relish the life she's living right now. :)

  • I don't mind a "happy" album. But I do mind a bad one.

  • I see your point. But to me, it's not all that bad. Matter of personal taste, I guess. Vive la difference. ;-)

  • proof perfect that Ani DiFranco is still the genius giant she always has been. No surprise. I am a little put off by some of the sexism, as a equalist type feminist male myself i don't think its fair to insinuate that everything wrong is because of men and women are superior. But regardless I appreciate her perspective and I like how she challenges the mind. She is the most important folksinger of her generation at very least.

PS. Physicist Leona Woods worked on the manhattan project actually

  • "Let the earth inherit the meek"

What a fantastic turn of phrase. She's still got it, I don't think she could ever lose it.
