Idk about iPhones, but I do know that for Blackberrys once theyre unlocked you can use them with any GSM enabled sims, (Verizons do have sims, but sometimes you have to take the phone apart to get the sim card out)... and in order to use the internet, you need to have some sort of black berry data plan... I hope that made sense =/

First, is unlocking the iphone illegal? From what Ive been reading, Under the DMCA, it states that I can unlock any phone for my personal use BUT.. you cant use any software to do it. Make sense? No. Im aware that Att doesnt care because I called and verified that it was legal. 4 times. I also know that apple is stating that its illegal. of course Apple is going to say it is illegal, they do not want you modifying their original product to do anything more useful than what it was designed for. Even if it is 'illegal' no one is going to care you are using your personal device in the way that you choose. You want to unlock it? Go to town, its yours, you paid your money and as such should do what you want with your purchased item.
