  • Definitely one of my favourite Stones songs/all songs in general of all time. I mean yeah one part is that the Stones definitely demonstrate their incredible musicality here, but DAMN that FEELING! That loose, hot, Exile-on-fucking-main-st FEELING that you get, it just GETS YOU like fuuuck! Thats what makes rocks off special, it's Exile.

  • I always get my ROCKS OFF while I'm dreaming ~ of MICK! I will defend them right till the end, if you say this song sucks, kick me like you kicked before, I cant even feel the pain no more. Rocks Off rocks and consider yourself lucky if you catch a Stones gig and they play this song, because they dont play it that often! Almost a rarity.

  • this is rocks off lite.

  • Mick never liked how they played this song live. thats why its not on ladies and gentleman. fact. and to be honest they cant play that odd vibe live. on record its heavy as fuck. pure hard rock. wonderfull..on a real system the car vibrates. like mine.

  • Mick Jagger is much more talented then Justin Biemer

  • Rok!

  • ooooh... not good

  • the stones don't play this song al lot in concerts, but i like this!

With some songs, the rolling stones think the coukd play it on a concert, but they have to expiriment.

  • cool +1

    SEX DRUG N ROCK'NROLL

  • rocks off is a great song, prob one of their best but it is not a song for concerts

  • I do not agree with you. I saw this number in Stockholm-95. Awesome!

  • i like the improvised singing mick does around 4:37

  • Singing? LOL

  • i guess you could call it "vocal styings". It sounds cool he's imitating the notes the horns are playing.

  • Ron fits in better, if nothing else.

  • ronnie with a telecaster and kieth wiv a les paul (or summin similar?) at the beginin, bit of an unusual fing lol

  • They both play a gibson here, ron plays a Gibson Les Paul Junior Special and Keith plays a Gibson Les Paul Junior 1956

  • aww man not enough guitar on this, they shouldve setup some delay or something

  • I can't believe how much these motherfuckers tour! Wears me out jus thinkin' about it...

  • Good--bad-- I love these fuckers. Rock on!

  • This looks like it was from Voodoo Lounge Tour. Yeah, I agree...if your going to do a lounge version of this song, don't do it. This song is supposed to be Rock & Roll just like it was on Exile. This version is just awful.

  • Is that a Melody Maker that Keef is playing?

  • yep

  • If your going to do "Rocks Off" like a lounge song, dont do it at all. I saw this live in 94' and dont think it sounded this bad

  • 1972...good era of stones.......

  • thats...thats is my english teatcher o.O

  • This is pretty good i suppose, but where's the SOUL? I think it lacks the rough, tumble, raw racket they were able to produce in 72, and 73.

  • Say what you want about Brian Jones, he could play. Go watch a version of Dead Flowers on you tube where Brian rips it up. But, I love Keith...he's my hero. I'd rather listen to Keith play than Ingwe or Satch...despite the fact that those guys are so much more talented. Keith just knows what sounds good. BTW, how but him accidentally punching Ronnie in the face at 2:45 of this video? Ronnie's reaction is priceless.

  • I think you are probably talking about Mick Taylor. Brian Jones never even heard Dead flowers, let alone played it. Nonetheless, the 1971-1972 versions live really show Mick Taylor playing the best licks for dead flowers.

  • yeah, you're right. Sort of embarrassing on my part. Oh well, not the first time I've been embarrassed. But thanks for setting me straight, as at least I won't continue in my ignorance. Rock on.

  • i agree specially about Ronnie´s reaction he´s alwayis in a good mood, hilarious

  • @rik0366 Brian was dead before the song Dead Flowers came about so it couldn't have been him...maybe Mick Taylor or Ronnie Wood you are talking about...

  • one the best rock all time

  • Perception and perspective people!

I just listened to the '73 version and this one back to back-

It was brand new in 73' and is 21 years old here in '94-

Ramshackle, dirty and raw in '73-

Stylised, well-mixed and in proportion in '94-

If you were there at either show you woulda loved it

and odds on that most of The Stones, past or present, will tell you that THIS version is BETTER-

However, the '73 version is a train-wreck and of course, EVERYONE loves a trainwreck!

  • But all the respect to you who added this. Rolling stones is coolest even in its worst.

Hope you understand something, im from finland and no habla english :)

  • a rippin' song that is sadly watered down. Mick is barely croakin'. I too love the Stone, have all the stuff, but I've seen them live ever tour since '81 & Mick has been mailing the vocs in since '75. Now he CAN'T do it. Monkey Man, the girl does his scream part...go as a 5 piece again. They can't though. Their versions lately of Cant You hear me knockin' were sad. They still sound good doin the blues, some of the mellow songs...the mid section sounds terrible. No power in his vocals.

  • Sad but true, but remember they are 64+ years old (Mick will be 65 in one month)

  • yeah, this isn't actually so bad... but now it's just thin voice... here he can pretend to have depth but.... it's all over now

  • this version sucks. theres maybe little bit rock without roll. i think that rolling stones is the greatest rock n roll band in the whole fuckin world, but this is just rapeing on the good ol song. leave em alone!

  • It's hard to say it but you're right; there ain't no live version like the original studio versio, the same for Gimme Shelter

  • This sounds awful. A sanitized version of the original from 'Exile On Main Street'. Where's the passion?

  • they have doing better songs defitivilty

  • The Rolling Stones don't just play rock and roll - the ARE Rock and Roll. The most authentic sound in music. Thay are kick-ass fresh after all these years. Just an incredible, powerful, timeless group. Check out my channel for a two-part Beatles vs. Stones comparison of the two great bands, with some rare footage.

  • I was at the Cotton Bowl concert in Dallas Tx.

    for this tour...AWSOME!!!

I jumped the rail and got into the handicapped section right up front!!! fucking great memories!!!THANX GUYS!!!

  • I was at the 94 Cotton Bowl show too - pouring rain, but incredible concert. First one ever to broadcast a live song over the internet - wish I could find that archived somewhere.

  • ado9988...you are right!!..I had forgotten about getting soaked....Brian Adams was opening act GREAT concert..the downpour went un-noticed!!!ha ha !!THANX for reminding me of that detail!!!

  • The best thing The Stones ever did was hire Mick Taylor. The worst thing they ever did was piss him off. Thank goodness for Keith. What a great player.

  • That is so True!!!! I hear Ron wood is a good guy and everything but there is no comparison between the two. I guess there just wasn't room for 2 superstars.

  • the one who choose mick taylor WAS keith. he could have chosen anybody else, or could even have decided to stay the only guitar player. there was no competition between the two. keith played rythm, mick the lead, period. the only problem was that mick was fed up of never being credited as co-author...

  • Laughincow, Keith wouldn't have elected to remain the only guitarist after Jones was fired. He HATED the period when he had to overdub a second guitar part when Jones lost interest in playing.

  • yes, you're quite right. keith richards loves the interplay between two guitars above all. he makes it very clear in their book "according to the rolling stones"! his main problem with taylor was precisely that their hewas too much of a lead guitarist, not because he outplayed him but because he could not really "blend" their two guitars as he used to with jones...

  • La mejor banda de rockandroll uno de mis temas favoritos Gracias por subir esta version

  • lol at 2.45......XD

  • i will fight you in the street.

  • HAHA!

That's the best response I've ever had on YouTube!

  • Best song éver!! Mich Jagger cannot stop rocking! Best rocker and performer thus far.

I get my rocks off everytime I see him perform for sure

  • One of best versions of Rocks Off EVER!!!

  • that was lackluster at best. Mick wasn't even trying to hit the notes!

  • He's spent the last 15 years singing like this. Spitting the words out, expecting the backups to provide the melody.

  • you suck...he's the nº1 for sure. the time pass for everybody, you certainly know

  • Yea, boyz; I think you got 'em off.

  • bello

  • one of my fav stones songs!!!!! they rock!!!!!!!!!!!

exile on mainstreet is the best album, that and some girls

  • Oh yes they rock !!! But ALL their albums are the bests !!! Get yer ya-ya's out... Let it Bleed... Beggar's Banquet... Tattoo You... Exile... Goat's Head Soup.... It's Only R'n'R... Still Life... ALL !

  • I know quite a few songs, but I don't own but one of their albums..now there is this song that I think is theirs, and I just CANNOT place it! It almost sounds like a Disco tune. Do you know the one I mean? I've been going through all the Videos here on Youtube that I thought could be it, but no luck yet, and I'm on page 10.. I can only reme, ber that he says something like "We've got some girls out here that are just dyinnnn' ta meet cha'!" ..Heh, hope that helps.

  • It must be the song "MISS YOU" from the album "Some Girls" in 1978... They sometines played it on the B-Stage during the "Bigger Band Tour"... For example in Zuerich : and Darryl Jones was great at the bass ! I'm sure you will find some evrsions of this song on Youtube ! CU !

  • That's it! That was the one! TY

  • Good site you got and I really love the music, as Im 57, and remember alot of these shows/artists, and thanx for sharing, Chile!

  • You too!?

  • The Voodoo Child!

  • actually I was "refer"ring to Mick! And ain't no groupie man!

  • I LOVE THEM

  • Rocks Off is great and Mick got a great work !

  • awesome

  • if there's one upbeat song mick should stand still while performing, it's this one.

  • Christ, that just wouldn't be his style, and don't tell me, when hearing this you don't tap you toes or rock your head, just can help it, Man!

  • agree with barrows in that...not his style...but would fit this song perfectly

  • Great tune, but it's not a song that lends itself well to live performance.

  • Good point, Gimme Shelter also never comes out as well as the studio version as well.

  • you have to considerer that in Exile on main street there are three voices: two takes from mick ( low and high) and one from keith!!!

  • pero ma bien, pensa que hay gente que no entiende nada de los Stones, hablan por hablar.

  • Sounds great live with new guitar riffs!

  • i am the dancer friend of mine lol

  • great videoooooooooooo

  • Amazing song (the original I mean)...perhaps the best Stones song ever. Cool that they attempted to do it for Voodoo Lounge. Will give them kudos for that...

  • ROCK OFF is a great song. Thanks a lot MAN.

  • best lyrics of this song ?..either "the sunshine bores the daylights outta me"..or, " I was makin' love last night, to a dancin' friend of mine, i can't seem to stay in step, but she cums every time she pirouettes on me"

  • This is my favourite song on Exile on main st, but i didn`t like this version.

  • i dunno. this song is probably my all time favourtie as a track but all of the preformance clips i've seen of it sound bad. i agree about micks vocals, they arent as good as on the track, i'm not saying they should be the same but i think the song sounds different with his voice as deep as it is now.

  • is he checkin out fo sho? is he gonna close the door on me? exile on main street is perhaps the greatest album in rock n roll history. sa-weet

  • i saw this tour in Cleveland and while I was really glad to see them dig up some seldom heard classics like this one, Mick's vocals leave much to be desired. the horn section and backup vocals are killer. i only wish i could have seen them do this number when mick taylor was still with them - like on the 'exile' tour. still, good stuff

  • Ron gets a little outa line and Keef gives him a slap (2:44). Rock 'n' Roll baby!

  • Had to stop by to say...I am so sorry to have missed the concert. Charlie is still looking great...as ever!

  • I always get goose bumps when I listen to the guitars in this song - especially from the part in which Mick sings: "I feel so hypnotized, can`t describe the scene..." Love it!
