  • The only technical trick that I see here is using velum (plastic) paper pre-printed with a laser jet, a decently sized insulated electric oven (with mounting rack for the visible frame) and a thermally safe vacuum tube. I also suspect another layer for a thin Lexan plastic protective layer to keep the melted on art from easily being scratched off.

Search YOUTUBE for "Forming ROTJ suits with TE -part 2-", same basic tech, just adding a printed layer and 2 sheets sandwiching instead of one.

  • Two printed sheets, oven cooks + softens the sheets, vacuum tube sucks the air out, forcing the hot printed sheets tightly upon the target surfaces.

Search GOOGLE or YOUTUBE for "Vacuum Molding". In that process you take a semi-rigid sheet of plastic, heat up in the oven or with a heat gun or hair dryer (depending on the plastic) until it softens, place upon a wooden or metal 2D/3D relief mold. Suck the air out, the softened plastic conforms then hardens as it cools. Same trick here.
