  • i live in Abidjan, i am white white white white white, people love Americans here. just say: "je suis americaine" people will smile. of course then they will expect you to know French. I feel safer here than in the states, no lie.

  • yeah, language is the biggest problem... not enough time to learn everything, but i prefer south america so spanish is my language of choice anyway...

  • @slaven000 YOU are the problem ! not the language. Just learn it and that's it ! When tey come here in usa ,they have to speak english ,right? why can't you speak they language up there ? Are u kidding of what?

  • @barukatube I`m Croatian

  • @slaven000 So whwat ? I fyou are croatian ? I am ivorian and I speak englsih in usa where I live .That's it.I i visit croatian I will have to learn a few croation words and sentence.End of the story

  • @barukatube i was there for a few days, I'm not going to learn French for that... and if you come to Croatia, you won't have to learn Croatian because most of the people speak English... but if you want to you can learn it, that's the difference between Croatia and Ivory Coast, in your country I would HAVE TO learn French if i can't afford a translator..

  • @slaven000 Sorry! Tha's your probleme if u Cannot adford a Craotia-French translator ! The issue is Learn at leat how to say Hello, bye, how are you, where is this,How to go to the airport..you know little sentence.Even if you are croatian,i really don't expect you to come to ivory coast(or any country for that matter) for even 2 days and expect people to satisfy your communication in the croatia language ! .It's free in any librairy and french book are all over any library.!What was u doin in IC?

  • @barukatube When did I say they should speak Croatian language? I'm talking about english.. You are getting upset for nothing, I just said that language is the problem because there is not enough time to learn all the languages of all the countries I'm visiting.. that's all. there is a BIG difference between knowing the language and knowing few simple phrases... I was just passing trough Abidjan on the way to an oil rig, if I came as a tourist I would certainly learn French.

  • @slaven000 YOU KNOW WHAT ? .I don't want to get into stupidity! .In Ivory coast we say AKWABA to you .Please visit any Ivorian related website and learn what"akwaba "means. It's a beginning! My respects to all the croatian peoples .Thanks!Have a nice day

  • tres jolie

  • My home that I love, Abidjan, wow if that is a cellphone taping it, that is excellent picture and sound quality for a cell phone

  • it's Nokia N 70. Abidjan seems nice but dangerous, i've seen lot's of soldiers vith ak-47's. would it be dangerous for pale guy like me to go out during the night. where to go anyway? i was in arcotel hotel, and probably will be again, is there something interesting around there to see?

  • lol Well right now im in the states in the WAshingtong DC area, but well if you want to go out make sure you have a local you can TRUST lol well the soldiers for the most part are friendly, dont let the Ak's scare you, it's a wonderful place if you have the right people around you to show you around.

  • If I was there right now, I would definitly show you around, um the things to see would be the Maquis (Rue princess, the night clubs in the Plateaux or Yop district, the Bassam and Assinie Beaches, the concerts, umm outside of Abidjan not much, for a pale guy, you need to bcareful since you are not from there you know, cuz you can be taken advantage off, but If I was there I would definitely show you around

  • Abidjan is definitly nice, but as a pale guy you need to have someone you can trust, my cousin's husband is white and he was always around us when partied through the night, driving in abidjan late late night and getting pulled over by the cops , but nothing happned, be careful of the gurls also, Arcotel in plateaux? Well I visit I stay in Deux Plateaux/cocody neighborhood for the most part, and sometime in Tiassale.

  • :), thanks for the advice, if I catch some time between the flights I'll try to go for a little sightseeing but I'll be careful. I was amassed when I saw on Wiki that the biggest catholic place of worship is in the capitol of Ivory Coast. Too bad that the security is not too good :(... Well, take care and Tnx again.

  • No problem, I used to worship there every sunday with my fam, and go to the beach after wards or Hotel Ivoire across the lagoon, you should also try the Basilique in Yamoussoukro, also try a concert at the Palaix de Culture in treichville (very nice), don't get intimidated by the police, you should be fine in the daytime as a foreigner, they won't bother you much, nitetime is another issue.
