  • I am a big fan from Commander Low

  • The dig and Grim fandango the bestest.

  • the story for "The Dig was written by orson scott card and steven spielberg which is so awsome

  • game looks cool but that wailing synth sound in the background is killing my ears. Does that go on like that through the whole game?

  • @suncollapse no it's not there at all. the voice actors are different as well

  • I like it"

  • Ive never played this game, though even I'm having nostalgiagasms when the beginning is narrated by the guy from TIE Fighter and Rogue Squadron. I miss old LucasArts...

  • In terms of atmosphere The Dig is until today unmatched.

  • has anyone encountered the "unable to load muscript.scr" problem in dosbox with this game????

  • man it looks great (for the wise gamers who knows that GOOD games aren't just about graphics!). gotta get this game soon somewhere, but where...? :(

  • @Hagelnot STEAM, its only 4 bucks

  • @Hagelnot To be absolutely honest this game has incredibly beautiful graphics. It's just not very heavy on the PC. :)

  • @drakesmithmarshall sure it has! but I (think^^) I've meant people which hunts the newest and best graphics available like crysis and stuff.

  • Whats this ambient music in the background? And where can I get it?

  • @v3g374 With the exception of the opening theme, all the music that plays after it are unique to the demo and are not on the game's official soundtrack. The demo shouldn't be hard to find, so if you had the means of capturing either the music from in the game or the sound files themselves, that would be the best bet.

  • @Kalaida Thanks. I have the demo played thought a few times. I could record the music from it but the stupid dialogue still remains. :(

  • @v3g374

I was able to extract the music with SCUMM Revisited.

  • this is demo with other dabing

  • I miss al of lucas old games, DOTT DIG,ful Throttle,Sam & Max, etc.

  • Iam really glad that they had changed the voice-acting, the sounds and especially the music. The soundtrack is just aweful.

  • huh, the archeologists voice sounds different?

  • @OldSkoolStudio

    its the demo version

  • Awesome intro.

  • imagine a the dig film made by james cameron....

  • It would be a movie about 5 hours long, with 8 hours of bonus footage. The funhy part is, I would actually watch it too :P

  • holy shit i cant believe someone else in the world knows about this game!!!!

  • It was shocking to me how this game got knocked just for not being another funny adventure game from LucasArts! In many reviews you will see Monkey island mentioned - why?!

  • can't wait till its available through Steam to play it again!

  • come in brink;)

  • I have this demo, and full version too. I prefer this second option, because it is a better, nicer music, and fo course Robert Patrick as Boston Low!

  • One of the best games ever.

  • bring back the genre..

  • by far one of the best games i've ever played

  • Your lack of Robert Patrick disturbs me. It's a beta/demo version, right?

  • what did they do to their voices...

  • Am I the only one who was bothered by noticing the tile texture at 1:00 every time?

  • No, you're not :)

  • what version is this? the voices sound different?

  • i found out I needed scumm to play it. i found it

  • this game looks old

  • oh dear

  • i have this and yet it wont play on Winxp. any one have any suggestions as how to get it to work? thanks

  • yes buy it on july 8 2009 on steam due to lucas arts retro game revival

  • SCUMMVM

  • THANKS THAT WORKED

  • get it off steam

  • I love-hated this game... spent sooo much time on it, bloody puzzles and wandering around completely lost. This was back in the days of the internets being about 300 Sailor Moon fansites and a few college servers. Anyways, the soundtrack is awesome and really adds to the feel of the game. This, Full Throttle, Myst, and Duke Nukem 3D made my teenage years a bit more bearable. ^^

    *wanders off to install The Dig again for old time's sake* hmm and probably find an XP patch. >_>;;

  • to run... use the program>

    scummVM

  • omg same feeling here lol... you can usa DOSBOX :) and play all that again

  • actually, enabling the exe file for the game to run in Win95 mode made it work fine for WinXP ^__^ so I have since played it and beaten it again XD

  • I remember this demo when it came out...and loved the game itself when I got it for Xmas. One of the last great Lucasarts games...before they became nothing but a SW game factory.

  • I need to play this again. Man this would have made such an awesome film

  • Yea well it was a book before it was a game

  • You folks do realize these aren't the original voices right? Unless I'm missing something here...

  • you´re right. The voices are different and much better in the released version of te game. Thank God

  • @comradeyars you're totally right, the voices are different... and the voice acting is lame compared to the original. weeeeird

  • Brink doesn't even sound german..

  • man, this reminds me of Maniac Mansion... the best game in the world... all of these games, nothing could compete, I want to play Loom next

  • this game is TOO fuckin sick... this and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis are such classic LucasArts games!

  • "it's... pointing at me!"

    GODDAMIT

  • Just bought this at a thrift store and beat it. It was really good.

  • I remember this game, I only ever played the demo. I should get the full game.

  • its worth it. seriously. (download it)

  • this game is amazing..love the music and story line.

  • Wow ... not sure how I missed this growing up. Looks like something I would love, and reminds me of a sci fi version of Kings Quest V.

  • legendary game, better than any indiana jones

  • Even better than "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis"?

  • Never this was a great game but Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis has the be one of the greatest. I remember when i got it in the lucas arts pack with Day of the tentacle and sam & max

  • Yes, I agree.

My other comment was put as a question in reply to another users comment. Thus, I do not know why I got the -1 now; but that okay.

  • Oh my god. I would never dare to suppose that this game could be that awesome. I think I'll spend many hours playing this little gem... Thanks for uploading!

  • Looks like a pretty cool game

  • No doubt, "place-holder voices" were used for the demo version of "The Dig;" that is interesting.

It has been a long time since I played this game; even though it generally got bad reviews, I liked it.

Thank you for sharing this video :)

  • I greatly enjoyed playing and experiencing the story of The Dig along with the darker and more serious approach of it all.

Mr. Spielberg originally planned to create a life-action movie out of it but apparently, since it would have cost too much they decided to create a game out of it instead; I did not mind. xD

    Thanks for the upload.

  • Thanks for uploading this :-)

But in this demo, the man who plays Commander Boston dosent sound like Robert Patrick, who delivered the voice for the final game.

But that aside, this was one of the most elaborate and imagineative stories ever put into an adventure game... but then again, this was based on a story or idea of Steven Spielberg.

  • I thought the same thing...also Dr. Ludger Brink is voiced by Steven Blum and that doesn't sound like him either!

I guess they just used different voice actors for the demo.
