@johnny10301968 i'm talking about the characters motivations in the film and not mr. norris personally. he originally wanted heavyweight joe lewis who was also a student of bruce for his opponent in this movie (chuck is a middleweight) but he was not available. my suspicion is he did not want to lose to bruce on film as he felt it might hurt his rep. while i can't say with certainty i believe joe has said he didn't believe bruce could beat him in real life so he didn't accept the part.
