You are freakin' hilarious bro. I love you ranting on oldies.com, and you interacting with the cat is so cute. I am a fan. Just so cool, man. Also, if we didnt tell you, the Mrs and I enjoyed your KISS video a lot. ~ mphsVinylJim & the Mrs
@DoctorDeadwax Aren't they awesome? Both of the girls are pretty old - 11 and 15! They get whiny and cranky poor things and I don't speak "cat" so I don't know what's bothering them apart from just being "old". But put on some Kenny Burrell or Bud Powell...or the one with Chet Baker on bugle (!) and Bill Evans on piano ("Chet"?) and they're doin' the happy paws thing and drooling like they're kittens again.
H.W. = Howie Weinberg another guy who did work at Masterdisk and Sterling, like RL, LH who as you pointed out is Lee Hulko, and BK who is Bill Kipper. Great video, your name is in the hat for the draw. Strawberry is Strawberry Mastering in London, often found on Yes LPs. Is your Synchronicity a little purplish when you hold it up to the light? Most of mine are due to them not adding enough black to the vinyl when they made it, some dealers sell this as a "rare" purple vinyl so bewared. Cheers!
@DoctorDeadwax Oh God, do I have to pull out that freakin' record again to look? LOL! (I'll take a look - I didn't know that. I'm trying to get all the cover variations!) Thanks!
@stephievon See? I promised a kitty video to both you and Dr. D.Wax! Julia was snuggled up in her bed in the living room so she couldn't see me smuggle the tripod upstairs and the digital camera stuffed in my pocket. I carried her into her bedroom where she probably thought we were going to take a Sunday catnap together with her curled up at my feet.
It is nice to see you with Julia. A magnifying glass helps you with the deadwax Ottavio. Cool story of how you became aware of the Robert Ludwig/Synchronicity/deadwax sound quality. Yes, The Jam Setting Sons.
It is cool that you brought up the 'strawberry inscriptions'. It is next to impossible to find a copy of 'In through The Out Door' without strawberry in he deadwax. I found one that has "Specialty" on one of my copies of ITTOD out of 15 copies. Super fantastic post. The Damned!
@Paneeks1960 Hi there, I should do a tube on The Jam "Setting Sons" - I have enough of them from all over the world! Thanks for your message - I'll take a look at ITTOD although it was not my favourite of LZ records. Thirty years on, ya never know!
@GuessImJustASpudBoy The best frames on the planet. I lost my RayBan sun glasses or should I say, someone stole my RayBan's when I was at the beach the summer before last. I had a 200 dollar pair that I had made for me and some really nice person stole them after a week of wearing them. I now have two pairs, a nice pair and a crappy 10 dollar one for the beach. I swear to there are people who go out just to see what they can steal everyday of their lives. Massachusetts sucks at times~
@Paneeks1960 Ah, Rob...you know me with penny-pinchin' sometimes...my wife told me to get the tinted lenses that change with differing light conditions so I cheaped out and didn't. These Ray Ban Clubmaster 5154s glasses are reading glasses only so I purposely DID NOT get them tinted so that I wouldn't get behind the wheel of a car with them in error. Well, it's happened several times any way...but I don't get farther than the end of the driveway with 'em.
