  • I've had good luck and positive response with the biker and bi-fold wallets that I've put on ebay and etsy.com. Bullskinleather is the store name on etsy, I havent sold on there in a while so I dont know if the store is still up or not. Ive been super busy with school so I havent gotten back into it, but trying to manage some time eventually lol.

But yeah, round braid is a really strong and durable lacing technique. Havent tried it yet. Do it and tell how it goes. good luck

  • i've only just recently started to sell a few things. the problem i have is that i create something and i love it so much i cant get rid of it...lol there is another technique called round braid edge lacing that i have thought more than once about tackling but it is a toughy

  • The bags that I made are boxy in design so keeping that structure is important thats why stiffener panels where put in place. But yes I agree heavier weight leather dose serve a purpose in that department too. Keep on hammerin!

  • also regarding leather stiffness if you use 8-9oz leather i find it is generally sturdy enough on its own without extra support

  • hey bro. i too do the triple loop stitch lacing on my motorcycle gear. people love it, but i find i have to charge by the hour for that stitching. it can take 10-12 hours to stitch a full bag. there is a reason it is a dying art form but i do love the end result and people who are willing to pay the extra cash are happy they did

  • @Synuae Yeah I hear that, time and patience are the virtue but when you see how much its appreciated and the paycheck slaps yo palms it aint too bad is it haha. wish i had clientele. Everything I do is for myself or Its a gift. Need to change my ways

  • Very cool, nice work!

  • sorry i ment laced

  • i plan to make my own too man i love your tooling haha i hope i do as good. Where did you find out how to stitch the leather together? Also what did you use to stiffin your leather?

  • @plunkettluv You'll do fine just expect to make mistakes and plan out your project before you actually start: pattern profiles, how the panels are going to fit, what you plan on putting in your saddle bags, things like that. Ah the stitching that was interesting since I didnt have much experience with it. What I studied was a couple of books that can be found at Tandy Leather website for like 5 bucks - they actually say How To Lace. Also, I think I YouTubed some videos.

  • @righthanded10 Regarding the leather stiffness question I used Lexan and Jig sawed them to the profile of the leather panels, then sanded the edges. Next I LIquid Nailed the Lexan not Plexiglass to the leather. You can also use heavy weight foam that is 3/8 or 1/2 inch thich - this is what alot of aftermarket bags use. It can be found at your local foam supplier, if you have one, lol I dont.

  • Be sure to put a post up. If you run into any problems holler at me.

  • @righthanded10 Thank you and I will :).

  • I'm going to make my own pretty soon here so that they'll be ready by Spring, so thank you for sharing, and explaining some of the details of how you went about doing it. Yours turned out very nice.

  • Ops! I hit the button before I was done. As I was saying. The guy has a huge mutt and wanted to put him to work. He needed help to carry stuff so the dog does it for him.

  • Nice. Never made bags for a motorcycle but I bet its a challenge. Last set I made are on a dog. No, really a dog. The guy has ahuge m
