Well there is really no point in purchacing it if you are travelling on your own. You are still garanteed a seat!

dont bother it still dosent gauentee u the seat u want !!! Id imagine the after Xmas flights wont be that busy so there will probly be loads of seats to choose from !!! Do u have 2 go 2 STN cause EI fly 2 heathrow and they will give u an assigbed seat Free

It was done and the cabin secure before we left the gate.

Really? Because safety demostratins are often done when the plane is tazing from the gate, not static at the gate.

Yes, for whatever reason, from doors closing to being pushed there was quite a wait, so they managed to start and finish before we'd moved an inch.

Apron C from runway 22 (since this was in use) is less than 2 minutes taxing distance. So it makes sense for the crew to begin the safety demonstration early to avoid avoidable delays.
