That Pastor probably dresses like that to reach a certain crowd. I feel you should be able to preach the word of YHWH (God) in your underwear as long as the truth is coming out of your mouth.

@TheLordsInstrument My response was tailored specifically to the question he asked which was WHEN did God care about how we dressed. It has nothing to do with right now. My comment about Justin's appearance was not based on scripture. It was an opinion based on common knowledge of social perceptions and logic. I just think it's sad that we can "come as we are" when it comes to God but we go out of our way to dress appropriately for "occasions" of the world (i.e. interviews, galas, etc).
@carameldelight87 As a Christian, God is always with me. So, according to your last statement, I'd have to be dressed up all the time. I think it's good that Pastor Justin dresses the way he does because it amplifies a message that the world needs to hear. God is all about what's inside. And God will mold our hearts on the inside so well that we will know how to dress on the outside, not according to social norms, but according to each individual person.

My comment about Justin's appearance was not based on scripture. It was an opinion based on common knowledge of social perceptions and logic. I just think it's sad that we can "come as we are" when it comes to God but we go out of our way to dress appropriately for "occasions" of the world (i.e. interviews, galas, etc).

After listening to your video. All I'll say is that it's not just the one lyric in this one. It's the compilation of several lyrics in several songs. Okay, it MAY not affect you, but there ARE people who are influenced and affected by the music of MANY people...not just Jay Z. So, as a Christian, if a fellow Christian wishes to open the eyes to those Christians who are influenced, so be it. You, yourself said JayZ has never rapped in favor of Jesus and never portrayed a Christian lifestyle.

Music is not just music though. Satan is the god of this world. Music has the ability to influence people. Scientist even have proven that. People learn their ABC's to music. They don't learn the abc's really. They learn the melody. There are many carnal minded people out there. One thing I say is I agree that it shouldn't surprise us that Jay is how he is. However Satan has demonically influenced Jay and that's why he hasn't dissed false belief systems.

The point that Pastor Justin was making was that at least 90% of JayZ's fans who made him filthy rich are professing to be Christians. He is suggesting that we find something better to listen to as Christians. Some Christians do not see the danger in elevating the wrong people into power. Jay Z has influenced many young people that Christianity is for fools and many youth no longer believe as a direct result of Jay Z and many others like him. Just a different perspective.

....he even blessed a man for killing a man for being opposed to God(Numbers 25). With that being said I think its okay to be angry at Jay-Z, but its anger that makes you want to pray for him. Lastly, John was a wild man, living in the wilderness and he was blessed by God and noted as a man after God's heart. No one cared about his attire. I think its wrong to have this "idea" that pastors should dress a certain way, to be honest I just want to hear God loves me whether from the poor or rich.

2. I don't really see the point of the second verse because...the custom of wearing suits is a pretty old one right? In fact, people wore suits to church long before they wore jeans...so, if the verse is talking about clothing, then I guess SUITS are passed away. Doesn't really make sense, does it?

U DO care what he has on and what he wears does say something about who he is. The same way switching from gender-specific clothes makes a statement, so should wearing kids clothes. Do you think that Peter, Paul, Timothy or any other member of the early church had time to worry about looking "fresh" or "impressive"? A pastor in a business suit does not impress me, neither will I trust his leadership simply by virtue of his appearance. I'm looking for a pastor that is preaching the word of God, and is also maintaining his integrity as a Christian by living out God's word. There is nothing biblical about wearing a certain look.

@carmalblight I'm not at all a "big" fan of either. But I can have an unbiased opinion because I, unlike a lot of Christians, am educated. I don't jump on every pastor's bandwagon simply cuz he's wearing a cross or sayin "in Jesus name." And if you really are a follower of CHRIST, u should know better. All power and influence belongs to God. Music only has the power that YOU allow it to have over your life. Only the uneducated are influenced or controlled by it to get off track.

the problem is that kids are listening to this stuff we're talking 12-19 (which in the bible CLEARLY speaks that if any adult corrupts the mind of a youth will be severely punished! 2nd point is that with these kids listening to things like that (from a roll model they look up to like jay z) they think that it JUST might be cool to diss jesus, cuz jay z did it, i don't care wut anyone says music has a DIRECT influence in ppl's life(lives) now as a cristian, it is our DUTY/JOB/CALLING...

If music didnt have an effect then why do we do things based on the songs. Why when you would go to the club if you ever been (which i dont anymore and i REALLY mean that) and you would hear drop it like its hot etc and people start going down.
