I really look up to jack white as a musician. not knocking on Jimmy Page or the Edge, i just havent grown up with them. I learned of the White Stripes form Icky Thump and absolutely loved the guitars and vocals in that so i got into the White Stripes and then followed jack through the raconteurs and the dead weather. He really has a passion for what he does and he does it how he wants to and i think that is incredible to see from a person like him

The Edge DOES belong here. He's proven that you don't need to be a virtuoso guitar player. The Edge has certainly left his mark on the music of the last thirty years and you can hear his influence on new bands coming out now (Kings of Leon, Coldplay). Anyway they chose three different guitarists of DIFFERENT styles. Personally I think - it's not about what you do, it's how you do it.

'Bono' (I initially thought was the name of a dog biscuit) is a classic example. The pseudo-intellectual chin-rubbing, permanant sunglasses that seem glued to his face regardless of whether is is daylight or nightime and the constant calling for infinately poorer people than he is to 'donate' to his chosen charity bugs the shit out of me.

It takes real talent and knowledge of the guitar to create something that's not the same as what everyone else is doing with the guitar. Jimmi Hendrix was the first to use a guitar in the way he did, Page too. And Edge too. Take a look at the guitarist from AC/DC, he's a great guitarist, but it's just boring because stuff like that is already written a million times.

@EddyRainbow that's not what it was about, it was about taking players with different ways of playing the same thing i.e. jack white makes do with whatever pice of sh*t is at hand and is very unteconlogical and relies on atmosphere and song writing, the Edge use lots of very fansie gizmose and gadgets to get the right 'sound'. and page is somewhere in the middle. so it's white at one end page in the middle and the edge at the other end. :)
