True Taekwondo..just like true Karate is viscious. Don't compare to water down training here in the states. Every Scott, Hunter, and Matthew have a black belt by the age of 8.
Black belt to me represents a certain level of maturity as well as a minimal level of comprehension, critical thinking and problem solving etc... that an 8 year is developmentally incapable of. In most cases an 8 year black belt is a sign of a McDojo. An exceptional 10 year old, maybe. 12 years old is more like it.
I'd have to disagree although there are no 8 year old black belts, in my school there are some 8 year olds with some great discipline. They don't move around in joombi or charrieut (I can't spell but in english it's ready and attention stance.) They always reply with "YES SIR!"
Sounds like a good school. My point is an 8 year old does not have the maturity to handle the responsibility of a black belt. Ten year old... sometimes, a twelve year old maybe.
i'm at a loss for words.. this video is amazing. taekwondo really is a force to be reckoned with.
i hope that i can become half the martial artist this man is in my life.

There is no problem with getting a black belt at eight years old, It just matters if they deserve it or not.

Looks badass, but I'd bet it would be a lot harder if you criss-cross the wood grains of the boards.

That would be dangerous. One way to make it progressively more difficult would be to eliminate the spacing between two or more of the boards.
