I think Monarchy/Aristocracy is a very odd form of "dictatorship" and meritocracy because a lot of the people promoted to nobles did something that earned them and their family that title, not to mention that a lot of nobles served in the military and in politics.

Sorry but a monarchy is a government system in which Sovereignty is INHERITED through family ties. A King's council was mostly there as an advisory board, that is until they started to grab powers for themselves to check the King's own powers, such as in the UK.

"The men behind the scenes," were mostly administrators, who were peers, of territories that legally belonged to the Crown.

I don't agree with some of the fundamental politics at the heart of this video, but I will say this: It's a rather charming production. I can appreciate that.

That said: for those who've studied history, it is factually inaccurate how the narrator depicts Ancient Rome and its relationship to the people. Bread and Circuses go back to the city's founding. Roman life was not as laissez-faire as is being depicted. Methinks this video's creator has an agenda by trying to rewrite the past ; )

I'm afraid your study of history somehow missed how the Roman republic devolved into a democracy (collectivism, i.e. statism, socialism, communism, fascism) which placed the Romans under rule by fiat, rather than rule of law. I have studied Roman history going back to its earliest days and while Republic was eventually subverted, it had NOTHING to do with "social programs" as this video posits. This is just a falsehood, wrapped in a generality.

Personally, the vision of the "America" that is expressed in this video is a beautiful one, romantic even, and that's something I can appreciate. I'd really like to live in THAT America.

But I am sorry to say, That America ceased to exist long ago. Long before Obama, before LBJ or even FDR.

We need a system where those who vote have to take tests. To prove they know what the candidates have sponsored, cosponsored, voted yes/no on. The more you know, the more your vote counts for.

This should apply to the citizens and those who serve in congress.

We are fighting an uphill battle. But I think the freedom of space will make it forever difficult for any sort of elite to control everyone. Maybe that's why the world elite are so desperate in pushing for world government - so that the freedom and voice of all humans will forever be enslaved and they will be in total control.

I think they already have us by the balls, and eventually, many of us will be dumb enough to demand security over freedom.

a republic relies on laws, and laws almost always benefit the wealthy. while in a democracy the majority of people, who is not wealthy, want what is best for them. In my opinion, Oligarchy with good leaders is best.

Doubt it.

But suppose an oligarchy, such as the New World order by the world elites. If they killed all the adults off and put the newborns all under surveillance and chip and dumbed them all down until we were no more than programmed machines and plugged us into a matrix, it could last forever. Unless the oligarchy gives up its power.
