No matter how evil the Republicans are, the Democrat mostly Senators are worse because they give people hope & trust over civil liberties and time after time they throw people under a bus, down river, and up shit creek without a paddle.
One of the most unfairs moments of the history. I'm still hoping for the moment when George W. Bush will be judge as the criminal, the lyier and the puppet of rich people that he has been. Justice, damn it!!
@Mediumchild better to bend over clear to the ground and take it up the ass proper then. better to be boned and live than to possibly die for standing up; like george carlin said though before he died... "take a chance."
hey guys, i'm from the uk and i'm slightlyyyy confused over all these houses etc, could someone explain/clarify the situation here? So this was after the 2000 election, Senators could have sopped Bush from become President by signing their names to these African American Democrats/Congressmen and women.. But none did? Why? And how could they have stopped Bush from becoming president if he had already "won"? Thanks guys, sorry about my stupidity!
@Dinimess2k7 "Why" is a good question. Some would say its because the Democrats are pussies :) Others that they are owned by the same people who own the Republicans. Elections here are a bit different, very controlled. Ballot access laws, straight party voting, and corporate media prevent anything from really happening. If a Senator signed the bill, they would have unveiled the fraud that makes everyone comfortable: that voting matters.
Fahrenheit 9/11 is a great film! I don't care what people say about Michael Moore! Michael Moore is my hero in Liberal Politics! Michael Moore it's people like you who expose all the problems going on in the GOP and then offers hope with your movies! I wish you keep making movies Mike! They are truly awesome! God Bless you Michael Moore and God Bless President Obama. And to Hell with Bush, Palin, Boehner, McCain, and every other freaking Republican screwing things up in this country!
It's all a scam by the power elite. The fix was in, and anyone who wanted to keep his seat in the Senate (not to mention his life) knew better than to underwrite this. Oh, what evil times are these! At least MM reports the horrors that we face; unfortunately it's up to us to do something about it, and we are out-maneuvered and out-gunned by the evil few on top of the heap, and their brainwashed minions. We possibly could win an outright revolt, but the painful cost makes cowards of us all.
You watch things like this happen over and over...and yet so many people out there are still hypnotized enough to continue believing in the Reps vs. Dems/Cons vs Libs/Right vs Left stage show! I just don't get it. Every time I hear someone saying something like "those damn republicans" or "stupid liberals", I just want to smack them upside the head. Ask yourself...if the Reps and Dems really had such different views, why do they carry on with each other's policies when a "change" comes?
Michael, this scene, IMO, is the most puzzling and troubling part in your wonderful film. Question: Wasn't there any left leaning senators at the time of this 2000 election debacle that would have taken up this cause and signed off on the petition? If so, did you ever get the chance to press them on why they showed no backbone in not putting their name on this petition?
if this was a different country like lets say Pakistan because they did that. the person who lost the election to the Supreme Court there would have been a rebellion. and the Supreme Court would have been arrested
We need our elections publicly financed and we need at least 5 parties.,We need a far right party, the Repukes, the no-principle middle, the Dems, and the left.. Also, has any in-depth interview person interviewed supposedly progressive senators from that time and asked them WHY they were willing to see our vote discounted like that?
Bob Graham was the Democratic Senator from Florida at the time. He's to blame as much as any of them, since it involved thousands of Floridians having their right to vote taken away or deceived by butterfly ballots and voting machines.
Apparently, white representatives, Republican and Democrat, were the problem. This was infuriating at the time and it's even more infuriating to rewatch now. Democrats are determined to continue their 30-year-long move to the right by allowing an increasingly right-wing Republican party to get away with whatever they want, especially if the vast majority of Blacks are opposed. Fuck the Democrats for kowtowing to the even more evil Republican/Libertarians.
*golf clap* and this is the "democracy" that we are so boastful about.. its sorta like bragging about a rusted out car that hardly runs as if it was a Ferrari.
Yes, it's a strange thing that USA has stamped itself with "A free country" and yet so often US government demands that people who speak out shut up. Stranger to me is why the majority of US citizens willingly cast a bling eye to all this ... of course, things are way more complicated than just this, revolutions are inspiring to think of, but not easy to make at all.. especially with the perspective of chaos following any such events
@KhyronDesintegrado Because they didn't want to be called names by Republicans and Libertarians, who control the most-watched TV news network in the US, Fox News. They also didn't want to be seen as aligning with Blacks.
Anybody that can't see that the republicans and democrats are working together on behalf of special interests by now is lost. They stopped representing the people a long time ago.
There's still a handful of politicians that actually care about the people but it won't be long before they are run out of DC, along with great men like Rep. Alan Grayson.
@scampbell04 Grayson, great, this is the same guy the criticized the Patriot Act on Real Time with Bill Maher even after he voted for it and supported it. He is a liar and a phony. Get your facts straight before you talk politics.
@777danzig The Patriot Act was signed into law in 2001. Grayson never held elected office until 2008. Get your facts straight before you talk politics.
@yoink80 Well then Grayson is a liar, he criticized the partriot act but then said that he supported it. More likely miss understood what he said, which is my mistake, I will man up and admit it. I thought that he met that the voted for it. Either way, it doesn't matter because he is thankfully no longer a congressman, he was a egotist manaic from Harvard that never actually worked hard in his life and doesn't know what he is doing that wanted to increase the power of the federal government.
dudes, keep eating cheetos and coke... do not vote, just watch american idol, do not educate yourself on civics, just learn about the life of celebrities. remember DO NOT VOTE.
@WOODCRAFTER1966 there is a lot of us that have woken up, but what do you want us to do? we have no power in today's society, except for voting with all the candites being clones of each other
This was such a good movie. I increased my hate for Bush, and gave me reasons for it. It's also why I support the Iraqi "insurgents" in the War for Oil (War in Iraq/War on Terror). Fuck this ass-backward country.
Situations like this happen because it is corporations who truly run our government. When are the people going to wake up and get sick and tired of big money in government? We must get rid of all lobbyists in Washington. Lobbyists are the tools that big corporations use to get their hands on our elected representatives. Is it going to take an actual revolt by the people to do this?
@JohnCFII yes it is. because by the time people wake up, they'll have no peaceful options left to fight the system. the question will become: can regular citizens successfully fight the gigantic secret service and military apparatus of the US? i doubt it.
Seeing the mess that Ubama has made of his presidency and the self-serving stories Gore is currently selling (Yes, SELLING), I am not at all convinced that the US would have been better off with Gore as Supreme Leader.
@DIFowner Nazis followed a leader that was a great speaker and lead a country out of a bad economy and made it a stronger country that was heading to controling more than it should. That was all done by attacking a certain group of people by blaming them for everything. That sounds like Democrats to me. The point is that you can compare Republicans to Nazis but you can also do the same for Democrats. Make your own decisions and stop doing what other people want.
@MissMelodia4U psh, capitalist shills have been elected before bush and they will be elected again if the working class doesn't get its head out its ass and fight for an alternative form of economic organization. You wonder why the democrats don't fight for you, you wonder why the unions are inept, its because the system makes them so. They can not move beyond the bounds that capital gives them.
Anyone who cares to know: Dick and Arnold (big GOP guys) were present at the '70 bombing at UWis. They know that, i know that, the university Prez knew that Probably most insider GOPers know that.. It was supposed to be a secret. The patsies were set up and in place just like Reichstag, Mura, and 911, That followed Cheney around. I am afraid i would have to conclude at this point that it is a GOP tactic/gambit. They'll still get a way with it.
@hypnofan35 If you are not treachorously dishonest you will never ever become a leader or hierarch in the GOP. I say we scrap that whole party and interrogate the leaders. They are like American dogma Nazis. How many people have they killed because of this deception? How much do they care? It's a cruel cruel game they play. Might as well be Nazis. It is like the party of hate, lying, subversion, and fabulous wealth.
stuff like this makes me regret joining the Marines....What are our military service members fighting to protect anymore? Corporate greed...dishonest politics?
@mistymonee No, more like, you tell it Michael, keep telling us the side of the story you want people to hear so you can make a point instead of telling the full story, with citations, so Americans, and others, can learn on their own and make the best decision and instead of the decisions you want them to make.
@RadarKat73080 Well he is the president of the senate, so you can say he "runs" it by overseeing it, much like the speaker of the house for the representatives. He is also the deciding factor when there is a 50/50 tie in the senate, his vote will decide one way or another.
I liked F 9/11, but the great flaw, or maybe I would even call it deception, is that Michael Moore blamed it on stupidity and incompetence, when it was in fact very well planned and purposefully executed.
I think he deliberately avoided saying it was planned and purposefully executed (as you so well put it) because the actions taken are treasonous. It was effectively a "coup d'etat" that happened.
@Taxidriver987 I do not think Michael Moore created this as a deception as you are calling it, but rather he's been more than willing to give the other side the benefit of the doubt, hoping against hope, that they would do the right thing. He's been able to do what I still have not been able to do.
All of the GOP politicians are sold to global corporations, unfortunately 99% of the Dems are also sold to the same bidders.
Dems are not weak or dumb or subservient... Oh no! They are part of the game, they also want a cut of the lobbyist jobs in the Washington revolving doors.
We, sorely need PUBLIC FINANCING OF ELECTIONS.
No politician should have to sell his/her soul to these devils.
@grendelcatt and to make things worse too many people did not go to the polls this past November and the republicans now have the chance to run the country off a cliff and blame it on the Democrats...
@GreenEnergy2112 Americans think it's only about voting. In other countries, if a candidate had stolen an election like this, people would have rioted in the streets, attacked the offending parties, and thrown out the culprits. In the US, people are too afraid of not conforming to their shallow society to do things like that anymore; they don't wanna be thought "too political" or anything, so they've let the right wing take over their society since the rise of Reagan.
he would have taken his own private polluting jet to protest private jetes .

Would "Senator Obama" have stood up for them and signed it? I would like to think he would have. Too bad he wasn't a senator until 2005.
I wonder how the future would have unfolded had Gore become president?

@skippers96 And now Reagan is worshiped as a demigod in the US, even by Democrats.

YOU NEED TO VOTE EVERY YEAR...
GreenEnergy2112 1 year ago
@GreenEnergy2112 Americans think it's only about voting. In other countries, if a candidate had stolen an election like this, people would have rioted in the streets, attacked the offending parties, and thrown out the culprits. In the US, people are too afraid of not conforming to their shallow society to do things like that anymore; they don't wanna be thought "too political" or anything, so they've let the right wing take over their society since the rise of Reagan.
