  • Amazing!! I have been singing this one. I want to sing very well like her. :D

  • I'm learning this song right now and this is a great reference. I have listened to it at least 100 times.

  • I'm actually singing this piece for my voice jury and came across this video and couldn't believe she was 18 at this time!!! your voice is really mature and has a nice vibrato. To me, this would be a good video to inspire from. The only thing is the vibrato sounds a bit shaky, it sounds like you were nervous but made it work regardless. Wonderful job!!!! :D

  • Great job! Just started this and you're a great help on the couple tough parts. If you've been singing since this one I'll have to let my mezzo friend know she has competition x3

  • Hollow out your vowels. To much drama in your movement and not enough in your voice...Make it believeable!!

  • hello julia , how are you ??? i'm in france , in a conservatory , i send you a french sing .

Valentine lemercier , 20 ans mezzo soprano

  • Now THIS is music.

  • you are absolutly fabulous! alot of ppl sing this song because it is an itallian staple peice but you are just fantastice! beautiful vibrato and tone! i found this looking for good recordings of my repertoire for next semester and i definetly found one. keep it up ;)

  • PORQUE NUNCA HACEN BIEN LA FONÉTICA Y DICCIÓN DE LAS ARIAS ITALIANAS, LO DEMÁS ESTÁ BIEN, PERO DE QUE SIRVE SI NO PRONUNCIAN BIEN EL IDIOMA ITALIANO.

  • じゅはちですか!?インパシボル!

  • Amazing!

  • Excellent! You manage to make the music of the piece come to life.

  • Wonderful voice! ...and just 18?? You have a great future!

  • @merlinfan1006 Im sorry U dont look 18 but beautiful singing :DDD

  • Beautiful!

  • WoW!! I'm singing this in my A level recital! I'm now scared to even attempt. This is amazing!

  • She's an amazing interpreter!! And OH! What a voice!

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful. I'm singing this song for my voice competition and I've been looking for people who don't just sing the song, they perform it. You perform the song. Thank you so much for inspiring me with your performance! :D

  • Beautiful! I'm learning this song. Your pronunciation and articulation are great for me to learn from.

  • Brava!!!

  • I've added it to my playlist - enough said!

  • Increible. Su color de voz es precioso. Gracias por subirlo.

  • The color of her voice, remember me Joan Sutherland...

  • @merlinfan1006 si! muy joven, no? Dios mio, un voz muy bien tambien!

  • Are you serious 18?

  • Comment removed

  • i sang this song when i was a junior in high school and it was and is to this day my favorite song i have ever performed.

  • is so beautiful:X

  • I have to sing this song in the key of A flat.....this is not an easy song! beautiful job! I love your Mezzo-soprano voice. I'm a first soprano and thankful this song doesn't go as high as the other songs I have to sing! thank you for posting this! :-)

  • @annamarieintex Ab is it's original key

  • There's such urgency in your presentation of this piece, it's truly fabulous. I'm learning this piece in my private lessons. Well executed. Bravo!!!

  • so boutiful work! just a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Hope i'll sing like u some day :D!

  • Lovely!

  • Gİrl your increddible !!!!

  • You're gifted girl !

  • You convey it as a sad song...but its not. Its meant to be really strong.

  • So often young singers explode their "ts" in Italian...you go a great job of keeping it a dental "t". Lovely instrument and developement for an 18 year old. As far as not being a mezzo, a voice teacher would have not listen for where the "register events" occur in the voice...I trust you are in good hands in that department.

Danka

  • Tu as 18 ans ???? Tu es un miracle vivant ! J'adore ta voix... si ronde, pleine, maîtrisée ! Continue comme ça !!!!!!!!

  • you have to work on body connection and sing more vertically in general--higher in position and better supported. Also I am not sure you are a mezzo. You seem like a lyric soprano but that might be due to still undeveloped technique. Well, today everyone sings whatever they want mostly because there are mics.

But your interpretation is lovely. Hell, it's been a while since you recorded this. You must be much better now.

  • Wow! 18? That's absolutely amazing!

  • awesome voice for an 18 year old. very very mature and nice

  • Whoa, she's eighteen?! She sounds so mature and beautiful, I wouldn't have thought she was so young. I'm singing this today in a competition, and this is the only video in this key I could find. Great job!!

  • Some one teach me to sing this!!! Brava brava bravisimma!!! Bella!!!!!!

  • She is 18 here?!!!!!! Wow! Can't believe... Divine voice!

  • Lovely. You've done soooo much great work on this piece. Thank you for sharing it!

  • my favorite! I love the piano

  • Beautiful! Love this piece.

  • Wow, you did this perfectly, you definitely mastered it. And for drama333queen333, she did not hit the highest notes because she´s a mezzo not a soprano, but she was still pitch perfect.

  • from one soprano to another, you have a beautiful natural talent

  • okay, why did she drop it down? Why doesn't she hit the super high notes???? best part!

  • 'she' didn't drop it down. The role was written for a castrato in a higher key. But the most commonly published version today is in the key that she is using.

Schirmer dropped the key because most tenors have their balls these days.

  • lol true :) and thank god for that

  • @dannyboy291 Is that the D minor one?

  • This is one of the best versions being sung, perfect pitch and intonation, I loved it. Bravo..

  • wow this is beautiful.

i am singing this song for my grade 8 exam and this puts me to shame.

you are a wonderful singer :)

  • Wow. You're terrific! I'm singing this in my voice lesson right now, and i'm so greatful that you put this on youtube! I'm deffinitly using you as an example. You have a beautiful voice!!!

  • Your breath control is out of control crazy good, and it just makes your phrasing gorgeous. I'm a voice major also named Julia, so...represent.

  • Wow... You have such a beautiful voice! Thank you for putting this up. I'm in a performing arts high school, and I'm singing this song in my opera class. This really helps me get a feeling for it. Thanks again! Keep on singing! You're amazing!

    <3

  • wow!!! such maturity in your voice!! Great Job and keep singing....wow

  • To Julia: What a great job you have done. I am a 21 year old semi-professional lyric baritone, and I've been working on this aria since yesterday. I really appreciate what I see coming from you. You have beautiful stage presence and gorgeous voice that will only continue to develop as time goes on. I'll post a recording of myself performing the aria in the next week.

    Maybe we'll sing together someday.

I don't like it in D minor as much, but that's what I sing it in. It sounds nice in E minor.

  • she dint look 18 to me

  • didn't sound 18 either, but in a good way ;D<3

  • Julia, beautifully done.

  • woow, u are amazing i learn a lot of u thanks, i hope some day sing this song of the right way, thnk you sooo muuch.

  • You have a very good voice for the age. Just a few things that stood out to me:

-There is a lot of straight tone and for an art song, a little is okay but you need to let everything ring because you have a beautiful natural vibrato, use it! Some people would kill to have kind of vibrato.

-In Italian, the " t " sound is to be more dental, not so American-ized and harsh. like in "cerco Te" and "chiamo Te"

-Also if the Italian word has only one R in between 2 vowels, don't roll it!

    JL

  • Ahhhhhhhhh!

    Such lovely voice!!

  • I am also a mezzo, and I wish I was half as good as you!!! <3

  • I love the piano

  • Je suis fan !!!!!!!!!!!! Bravo, mademoiselle, voilà une vraie voix à la Bernarda Fink, un beau mezzo lyrique charnu et mature qui va évoluer encore.

    Continue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful!!.. really nice this is my favorite aria ever I sing it as well.. I recently sang it and placed it on YouTube as well .. would like to have comments.. greeting Sunta Overvliet from the Nederlands

  • I couldn't wait to the end of this performance to tell you how much l have enjoyed this. I have listened to them all and even the professionals who embellish this piece but none have given the goosebumps or taught me a thing in the way this has. I sang it many years ago (25) and the Italian l was taught was so incorrect but this is wonderful. I hope to hear Julia live one day. Imagine what this voice will sound like in 22 years!!!!! Can't wait. 5 * from me.

  • Julia, you have a wonderful voice !!!!!!!! Considering your age your are so amazingly good. I will look out for your name in the future your will most certainly reach the top if you choose to continue singing. Your voice penetrates my heart.

  • I agree

I've been trying to sing this song...but my voice isn't mature enough yet, but I've heard some scary things when I searched for it. But this one is lovely :D

  • What a wonderful voice. Thank you so much for listening. Five stars from me!!!

  • This is one of the better interpretations of this song on Youtube. Your technique is really impeccable. Keep it up!

  • Bravo et merci pour l'aide en répétition téciture identique. Dans l'espérance d'autres interpétations ........Cordialmente.

  • bella interpretacion te felicito yo tambien canto sigue adelante

  • Superbe voix de mezzo lyrique !!! Brava :-)))))

  • aha! Yes good Breath control! I love how you sang two whole phrases from the pick up to measure 30 all the way to beat two in measure 33! I always tend to breath right after measure 31 because I find it more dramatic when I pause after measure 31. Then come back in. But that's just my look at this piece...don't mind my mad rantings...just a crazy composer/singer who just loves music.

  • You have a really nice, clear, unique voice, especially for your age. I study classical voice too and I think you show a lot of potential.

  • Really enjoyed your singing.

    Thanks for posting.
