  • I agree with all comments. I first heard this version with the Great Johnny Cash. I cried so much when he sang about falling into the arms of those waiting for him.

A fabulous song even without him I have always loved Roseanne Cash...a very haunting voice like her dad.

  • Ich schreibe in Deutsch: Beste Erinnerung an mein Idol "Johnny Cash".

    Thanks to Rosanne!!

  • 3 people don't have feelings.

  • Thanks for posting this as I have never heard this version before, only the version she recorded with her Dad. I really like the Celtic sound of this version better. She is so talented. Thanks again! Clif

  • shes a cash.....what more can be said.

  • It was John (Leventhal), Rosanne's husband, who told her, she should get her father to sing with her on this song. He told her the time couldnt be more right then at that moment, and as we know all to well, he was right, not to long after he did it, he was gone. By the way, IT IS SEPTEMBER JUST NOW!! RIP Johnny

  • This artist is as deep as her father, what a gift she is to us!

  • I don't remember if Johnny was alive or not. I do remember when they did a tribute to him, and Rosanne got up and talked. She asked her dad sing with her in this song. She laughed and told everyone he said, I'll read the words and get back to you. So having it be from his daughter made no difference. He was that picky about what songs he would do or not do. Thank goodness, he did this one. September comes around, I think is the only song they did together., before his death.

  • a lovely song about mortality....

  • great song !!!

  • great song, thnx for posting!

  • I'm one of the few who'd take Rosanne over Johnny anyday.

  • I say both

  • @GodsWildfire lol warwick

  • Love this lady and this song alot!!!

  • Miss Li - Is this the end

  • Johnny would be proud!

    Just perfect! * * * * *

  • Rosanne Cash's music has such raw honesty and emotion to it.

I remember the album version of this where she duets with Johnny. I assume this video was made after he died and that adds a poignant new layer to the song. Rosanne is her father's daughter, that's for sure, and her music has the same world wearingness and melancholy to it. Beautiful.

  • I think the song also refers to being in the September, or the autumn, of life, as well. This song never got much reconition, as the great lyrical masterpieces seldom do in the artists' lifetime.

  • This woman is so beautiful and talented and she never tried to fit into anybody's box. Thanks for posting this.

  • i truly love this song on of the bedst i know whet Rosanne and when you truly listing to this song you can hear that see have som of the same ind hear voice as hear farther the truly leagrandry Mand ind Black

and when i hear this sond i alwyes have tears ind me eyes the song is soo strong that i have the feling that the gods them self are listing to it

  • This is such a cool song, my dad was a huge fan of Johnny Cash. Rosanne is a great artist

  • So emotional. I love this song.

  • Google Roseanne's obituary of June Carter Cash. It's quite a tribute. I think Johnny fixed himself up really sincerely and became a good father and husband. Why does everyone post negative comments??

  • The duet is so powerful and humbling.

  • Great song!

  • tkrantz55, I can imagine what you carry in a bucket.

  • Shit....,I´ve got tears in my eyes hearing this song.....

  • Wertyl, you dont have a clue, you idiot!!

  • My message is to tkrantz55, The public must like people who sing out of tune. Johnny Cash was in the industry for 5 decades I'm sure that he sag in tune at least once you MORON

  • That's a great hurt'en song. Sing it girl!

  • We can tell you get ALL your knowledge from movies. Researching things would probably be a good idea. Just a suggestion.

  • He wrote an autobiography and admitted to not being a good husband or father to his first family, which included Roseanne. The movie, Walk the Line was based on that autobiography.

However, he was a great musician and songwriter and he always WANTED to do the right thing, even if he did fail now and then due to the sickness of addiction.

  • tkrantz 55. Just shut ur mouth, u dont know shit about talent in music and u certainly dont know shit about cash so keep ur stupid coments to urself thanks.

  • He repented. We all screw up in life.

  • Nobody ever said he was always in tune... except with life...

  • LOVE THIS SONG !!!!!!!!!!

  • Johnny Cash was a good country singer. His daughter is a genius.

  • It gives me chills when I think of the fact that Johnny Cash died in "September" :(

  • I hadn't made that connection until reading this. That is chilling!

  • sad song

  • Wow- Sorry i didn't pay attention to her a lot .

  • I see Michael Doucet on fiddle.

  • Fantastic! Thanks for sharing this! We're great fans of Roseanne and saw her in concert during her tour in Sydney in January 2007. She's a great entertainer! I too play the accordion and enjoyed the accordion in this. Missed Johnny's voice in this. Where was this filmed? Scotland? Ireland? Many thanks again. Cheers! MM. Sydney, Australia.

  • Filmed in Scotland - around 97 or 98. Part of the legendary "Transatlantic Sessions". She will also feature in the nest series - due to transmitted in UK around September. All the musicians and arrangements were superb.

Agree that Johnny Cash's vocals added another dimension to this - the words were so apt and sad as he was in the September of his life .. I cannot move a mountain now ....

  • It is was also rather ironic that he died in September too

  • That's not irony. That is coincidence.

  • You are absolutely correct and I know better than that!

  • I know in reality it's coincidence, but the romantic spirit in me always wants to believe it's something more, like fate. Is it bad to believe that if it doesn't hurt anyone. It's just the romantic in me. . . .I want to believe that higher powers are always at work. We humans are so weak, it just helps me to believe in something a bit bigger.

  • captainsmith1- there totally is a "higher power". That Higher Power is Jesus Christ. If you are really looking and seeking something (or someone) just ask Him to reveal Himself to you and He most definitly will. It says in the Bible, Gods word, "for God so loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life". Seek the truth, and the Truth shall set you free. Jesus loves you, that is why He died for the sins of the world.

  • @totalJesusfreak2009 Please stop

  • Personally, I think that's because we and the world around us are designed by a higher power, and somewhere we all know it.

  • @GodsWildfire why do you have to be a heartbreaker

  • ... What? That was good news.

  • Amen GodsWildfire. I completely agree that there is a Higher Power, and to deny him is to deny his love.

  • Thank you!! Love that song even though I missed the voice of Johnny Cash on some of the lyrics. Im happy she chose to do it as a duet as well.

  • Yes , Yes too : )
