lol whycouldn't i have bee born in the 70's, now i have to sit through these lame award shows nowadays, you really couldn't sit through this video and say that this award show awful and boring, seriously lol. look at all the wonderful REAL black celebs in this video. Award shows back then look like a ton of fun and great entertainment. you also get to see some of the great black stars who aren't with us anymore one more time.

Whoever said that DeBarge were lip-syching dont know what they are talking about...the tones and certain inflections show that El was singing live....Dont know know about high inergy...DeBarge was more vocally talented than the Jacksons couldever hope to be...The jacksons had the dancing edge(MJ, who i love RIP)...A lot of ppl compare the two but i dont think talent wise there is much of a comparison...The jacksons just came along at the right time, in show biz timing is everything.

@MIXEDMADNESS I'm sorry but I beg 2 differ on vocal talent between MJ & El. Not taking any gift away from El that he was also blessed with, but have u ever really heard MJ sing & his range? From childhood 2 adult the man was Phenomenal! Especially the 70's he sing Smokey's song Who's loving U the live version & owned it. Singing was the Jackson Heart, the dancing was just extra gravy except 4 Tito. Timing had nothing 2 do w/ it, they could have started the same time & Jacksons would finish 1st.

@misumike25 yeah but when he sang "who's loving you" he was 11 years old and still had a boy soprano voice....pound for pound though mj was a bigger star by far, however el and bobby debarges vocals and range as adults would blow mike out of the water....mj was a great singer i just think talent wise debarge had more to offer....ALL of the debarges had excellent writing skills as well as being able to play multiple instruments...
