@marritlourenz I don't think he could play a lot of intruments coz all he learned was to dance and sing (though he didn't really need to learn that) so I guess he could play the piano by ear. Also producers who worked with him said that for he couldn't read notes or play all the instruments he would sing his song ideas to them and beatbox the drum and all the other intruments.

Honestly? Yeah, he probably could play piano in a very basic sense. But was he at professional level, good enough to play onstage during concerts? Probably not, which is why he hired others to do it for him. I think if he had instrumental chops we would've seen him onstage playing something, decades ago.

Of course he could play piano, guitar, and also drums. He even said that he liked to play violin just because he found it relaxing. Look on the HIStory album and you'll see that he is credited on several instruments. Joe Jackson made sure his kids could play instruments in addition to singing and dancing. But the thing with Michael is that so much of his live performance consisted of his dancing, so it kind of defeats the purpose to have him play instruments live in concert.

The interesting this is Michael could play piano, drums, and guitar. A lot of those instruments and his playing can be heard in the later albums such as Dangerous, HIStory, Blood on the Dance Floor, and Invincible. If I'm not mistaken he played guitar on Scream and Morphine along with Slash.

What i hate is people say prince is better because he actually played instruments, what people dont realize is MJ knew how to play many instruments, people that worked with him even said he could play piano, guitar and a lot of others, the only difference was, MJ was more of a dancer and singer onstage, whereas prince wasn't much of a dancer he he was more of a instrumental musician and singer, i'm sure if MJ hadn't been gifted with the moves he had he would have played instruments on stage too.

Its a known fact that MJ played the piano. A reporter back in the early seventies when the Jackson 5 had just become famous, wrote about meeting the boys & their dad. He wrote about seeing MJ practice on the piano and mentioned that MJ was getting taught to play by a professional.

The lead singer didnt play instruments on stage. Thats how Joe trained them and thats how it stayed. MJ later played keys on some of his later albums, but left it to the best in the biz. He put the music before the ego
