  • very helpful bro thanks I'm subscribing

  • ill get one of this....thanks for the review

  • Great video... I am thinking about upgrading to the Tamron 28-75mm from my 18-55mm canon kit lens. How does the Tamron's autofocus compare to the kit lens. Maybe it's 'slow' compared to a higher end lens, but how does it compare to the kit lens?

  • Well I obviously did back then. But, I haven't used really any UV filters for about the last year or so. Thanks for the comment

  • I never thought that professionals (like you) used UV filter .... and if this lens is so cheap, I certainly would not mount a additional glass.

  • Could you use this lens for weddings and get excellent results compared to the sigma and canon equivalent?

  • @jonshark1 Well, I suppose you could if you are really on a budget, but I wouldn't. I would invest in L glass. The only reason I say this is because at receptions where light tends to be low, you might find the AF to be a little slow and hunt. But, it could be done and it is certainly a viable back up lens.

  • @jonshark1 Grab yourself a 50 f/1.8 to compliment the 28-75 lens. Cheap and will help you in low light. This is of course assuming you're on a full frame camera. Otherwise, just get the Tamron 17-50 non VC

  • thanks for the honest review ;)

  • Is this lens good for video?

  • @altoso99 yess

  • What's the autofocus like for this lens? I've been reading in several places recently that it's slow on the new version (this version).

  • @elektriksheep in good light the AF works very well and is accurate. in low light it can be a bit slow. not unusable, but slower than you might like

  • Hey, dude. That was really useful. I am considering getting this lens for normal to telephoto low light shooting and was concerned about the build quality and optical quality. It's very reassuring that you, as a pro, not only rate this lens very highly, but have 5 years of intensive experience with it. It gives credibility to your opinion whereas other reviewers often lack this, so you don't know if their opinion is well informed or not. Nice one. Keep 'em coming :O)

  • I have the Tamron 28-75. It's a great lense at a GREAT price. It is certainly money well spent IF you decide to buy. If you question the price and what it will do I promise you won't regret buying this lense. I love it and use it quite often.

  • Thank you, I can rest easy about my recent purchase. Arrives today.. woo-hoo! =)

  • ive heard some rumors that the lens can be a little soft on 2.8, that would be lame.

  • @SKarsteinX This lens was tested against a carl zeiss at 4 times the price and at most apetures you couldn't tell the difference. I use it on a full frame and f2.8 is sharp in the middle and pretty good in the corners.

  • @surfandyoga Got mine in the mail yesterday, it is GREAT!

  • Thanks mate

  • which is better??? sigma 24-70 f2.8 or tamron 28-75 f2.8??? thanks!

  • That's an awesome price! Id jump all over that if I were you. It is a great lens for a beginner who wants to keep it well into the future too.

  • Question... I have neighbor that is a photographer.. she is selling a Tamron 28-75mm 2.8f for $65, bairly used, in original box, she said it is great for beginners--- which i am??? is this a good price for used??? is this a good lens to start off with?

  • @abby123456789100 Hi, As an "advanced beginner", I could tell you that is a good option. Just compare the price in Amazon this lens vs Canon 24-70 F2.8 L. Of course, Canon L series are professional lenses, but they cost a lot more than this 3rd party lenses. If you consider yourself a beginner, I think this lens is for you because is a pro 3rd party lens, at a GREAT price. Best of all is that you can test the lens, befor you buy it :D

    Greets!

  • @abby123456789100 ....there's no way it is an F2.8 in that price.

  • @ramraker

Yet it is.. good glass good quality maybe not build as a L quality lens. But glass wise it is very darn good! One con is that not every copy sold is well as well adjusted. Now YOU Might find that a problem.. nothing that adjusting can fix though. And for said price.. it is good. It just is that good!

  • @ramraker Well it is

  • thanks for the review man

  • thanks, useful review.

  • totally sounds like de niro!

  • i'm using Tammy with my 50D and i must say it's really great. The AF is bit slower than Canon USM system but i don't mind. Sharpness, colors, bokeh it's all fantastic with this lens and the best thing is price!

Canon please stop being so expensive... ;)

  • thanks..i've been wanting to buy the 24070 canon but the cost is crazy...i think i will go with Tamron because of your review..very helpful!

  • thanks...nice review.

  • Thanks for the review.

  • Thanks , going out to get one....

  • Thanks

Very helpful review I think I'm going to buy it.

  • Nice video. I'm planning on getting a Canon 5d Mk2 in the next week and have been agonising over whether to get the Canon 24-70L or this lens and I think this review has definitely tipped me to get the far cheaper Tamron to start out with.

The camera body alone is costing me enough money, so this lens sounds like a good way to start out. Thanks!

  • @Slint1000 Not too sure why you'd start out with a 5D in the first place...?

  • Good video.

  • Quick question for you. I just picked up this lens and the image quality seems amazing thus far. One thing I noticed though is that when i change the aperture it makes a rather audible clicking noise that is a fair bit louder and sort of metallic sounding compared to my prior kit lens. I was simply curious if this was normal or if I needed to look into it. Thanks!

  • As an owner of the Tamron, I can say that it's excellent, and super sharp. My favourite lens.

The only downside (compared to the L lens) is that it's not weather sealed. Also, slightly slower focus.

  • Great vid... I have a question about another third party lens. What do you think about the sigma 70-200 f/2.8. I'm on a budget and i can't really afford the Nikon 70-200 which is $2500. Tell me what you think. Thank

  • nice video... I am going to get one too!

  • Hi Pete, just found your channel and am enjoying them. Can I ask what you might think about this 2X-7X range on a 1.6 crop body? I find 'most' of my photos are 24-40 ish range (currently from the kit lens) so was debating the 28-75 (for its great reviews wide open, and the 17-50 2.8 (but not as sharp wide open?) - any help or guidance would be great. Cheers!

  • Hey there :) I ordered this lens because as you noticed good apperture and to get better you are going to pay 3/4 times as much.

Pure amateur here but this will be my first real good lens. I can only hope it comes to me soon!

  • how would you guys compare this lens to the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 macro?

  • i been wondering this also, I'm stuck in btwn the two.

  • Great review. Thx.

  • good review, but a canon 1D looks strange with a tamron sens. If would have that much money, i would take the canon..........but i don't......^^

  • all research shows this lens is the sharpest at f/2.8 - even slightly sharper than canon and nikon

  • Mine just arrived today!! Very happy!

  • very helpful. thank you.

  • Canon L lenses are way overpriced. A $400 Tamron lens takes the same quality pictures as a $1,300 Canon L lens of the same focal length equivalent. I quit buying Canon lenses long ago.

  • A very good lense for sure, top price, equal quality with "big brands", wonderful results on my 700 Alpha and others, big deal, don't miss it....

  • Great review. I need this range for my 5d, and the 24-70mm f/2.8 is far too expensive (i'm no pro but making some money from it). I think this will be a good alternative, although it doesn't go as wide but I can live with that.

  • thanks!

  • Hey

You made me more sure about the tamron then sigma

    Thanks

  • Feedback:

This is more a lens description rather than a review.

It would be cool to have photo samples availables (10MP minimum in TIFF) to download.

    Thank you.

  • Good review, but one thing you didn't mention is the focusing. This seems to a weak spot for Tamron especially in low light.

  • i ordered this lens with a D90 budy, i was not sold with the kit lens plus its good if i want to upgrade to full frame in future, helpfull review.

  • hey i was planning to buy the d90 body with this lens as well, how do you like it?

  • its very fine lense, however the 28 is not wide enough for an APC sized sensor camera, so you need another wide angle lense, but this one is superb for portrait, and you can get a nice shallow DOF. i got a used tokina 11-16 / 2.8 for the wide side, in future if i have money i get myself a used nikkor 80-200 / 2.8 and thats all i can dream for (the 70-200 VR nikkor is too expensive to me).

  • Great review. I'm thinking to buy this lens to replace my 18-55 is kit lens

  • great idea, kit lens is a piece of shit

  • Just a fine to-the-point review. And I love the fact that it is in HD!
