@jon1carlo: He does use all the strings. He uses a five string instrument and the tuning is "sa-pa-sa-pa-sa". The sa is a root tonic note (1st,3rd and 5th strings ) and is fixed and would correspond to a C# note in western notation. The pa would be the fifth from C#. The tuning is the easy part. :) God wanted to hear somebody play the mandolin and he created U. Srinivas.
Does he not use the highest string of the instrument? I've been trying to find resources on what tuning U. Srinivas uses and I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know?
iammani said that sivamani is from india... but there is a connection in srilanka. either his parents born in srilanka or something. he is a pure thamizhan. y he wears something unusual. sorry 4 the comments. he is very talented compare with other international drummers. if he shows him up in shows PAKKA THAMIZHAN we will be more happy... this is my OPINION
I've never written a comment on Youtube before, but this video was simply awesome! There are many musicians, but Sivamani and Srinivas are the rarest breed of musicians who create an elevated experience, an ambience for the listener to revel at a higher plane of spirituality!
