When it comes to extreme poverty, that has always been the human condition. The rare exception is when humans have been liberated from over-controlling government. I agree that businesses are wrong in bribing the government but the government is the ones taking the bribes and causing unfairness in the business environment. By regulating and offering privileges it creates the incentives for bribery in the first place. The government's only role in business is in ensuring retribution for fraud and bringing restitution to the victims of fraud. Government should punish bribery rather than provide the incentives for it.

I agree that businesses are wrong in bribing the government but the government is the ones taking the bribes and causing unfairness in the business environment. By regulating and offering privileges it creates the incentives for bribery in the first place. The government's only role in business is in ensuring retribution for fraud and bringing restitution to the victims of fraud. Government should punish bribery rather than provide the incentives for it.

the "oppressed 99%" includes millions of six figure salary earners, many of which happen to be the wall street bankers they're protesting. So given they are demanding the top 1% to spread their wealth more to benefit the 99%, many of which are financially secure,and less than 1% of the US population is homeless, they are essentially arguing for the super rich to make the rich richer over helping the truly poor and desperate. True communism is not what was implemented in the USSR, China or Cuba because Marx saw world without government and ownership of material wealth. The capitalist machine was responsible for impoverishing Cuba, a country I might add that has one of the best health care systems in the world.

Human greed is what inspires you to work hard to improve your life, to earn profits so you can provide your family with a good home, good food and even the "pursuit of happiness".
