  • I have to say, after watching the english dubbed version yesterday, I actually wanted more, lol! I was excited and happy! I totally can't wait to watch it again! (excited squeal)

  • soundtrack: "La Seine (Un monstre à Paris) by -M-"

  • Hmm... something about this plot that seems somewhat familar... *cough* the phantom of the opera *cough*

  • @DRAGONPeaceGrrl firrst of all, there is nothing new under the sun. secondly, just because someone wheres a mask that means that is related to phantom of the opera? how simple you are. it's adorable...

  • @DRAGONPeaceGrrl Well both french.. Le Fantôme de l'Opéra (English: The Phantom of the Opera) is a novel by French writer Gaston Leroux.

  • Saba bia!!

    Marci!!! Rui=chan

  • Ce fim est extrat <3<3

  • can't understand a thing....but still, have an urge to turn the vid of. movies nowadays r so boring...

  • @RaitaFoxy13 Still, the concept is good though.

  • @AlbinoTanuki , well, yes.

  • @RaitaFoxy13 That might partially explain a few things; poor voice acting can make any film seem dull; replace all the voice actors for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic with Ben Stein and you've got yourself a snore-fest.

  • What a boring movie

  • @MrSalabdali Did you watch it in the English Dub? I hear the French is much better.

  • Does anybody know what the song at the end of this is called/who it is by?

  • Why did I take German instead of Frech?!

  • I just saw it, but there's a part at the end I did not understand (I don't want to spoil it to anyone, so if anyone has seen it let me know so I'll ask you) :)

  • @lauramichelle1995 I saw it...can I help?

  • this looks like a really good film finally a monster movie where the monster is actually already kind and gentle minus quasimodo of course from Disney's hunchback of notre dame

  • there's already a translated version of this trailer in English

and this is not a Disney film -_-

  • @sandkookies yup nor pixar lol people would instantly think that tho...no harm done, might work in the films favor actually

  • when should this be out?

  • =O

    =D

    *tries to bro-hug computer screen*

*fails miserably, and ends up jacking-up shoulder*

    *totally worth it*

    ^u^

  • can i get this translated?

  • will there be a English version?

  • Please bring this movie out soon on dvd i can't speak french but i could read the subtiles

  • Lovely

  • Dear all of you english-speaking people :)

I'm French and really enjoyed the movie in theater! Its initial version is French as you may have understood... English translation may be on the way

The story is that of a French singer called Lucille who meets the "monster" but the police and everyone think that the monster is bad whereas it is so sweet.

I end here the comment just to let you think that the movie is really cute and GROOVY (in French at least it made me twirl on my seat)

  • Beats the English trailer any day of the week.

  • Its not about a monster who lives in a garden =_=

I watched it today so i would know what it's about xD

  • I think I like the french version better.

  • I might be crazy but it really looks like the mouth animations match more with english. "you have a name?" at 0:59, "who" at 1:28 and many others. But then the french trailer came out first.. but if you look at the english trailer it matches which means that the english must have been recorded first to do the animations from it, unless they're actually making different mouth animations for the different language versions? I'm confused which version will count as the "original" version.

  • That looks kinda cute. :D

  • This looks like a really interesting film, though am I the only one that thought their words didn't quite match up with their lips?

  • Wow, the french make better movies than America? How do you say "Didn't see that coming." in french?

  • @brainstorm623 N'a pas vu venir.

  • @cadman2300 Actually, that was a rhetorical question, but what the heck. Who doesn't love learning a new language?

  • @brainstorm623 n'a pas vu venir!!

  • @MegaAnimelover98 Yeah, someone already told me. And it was a rhetorical question.

  • @brainstorm623 opps! sorry

  • I never noticed that Francoeur was in the background at 0:48! I lol'd at how freaked he looks when the lady screamed XD

  • This looks like a great movie, but why would the French be good at making quality animated films? This is just one example, you guys are way too impulsive with your thumbs up, as always.

  • @XFanmarX You never seen "The Triplets of Belleville", have you?

  • @XFanmarX You never seen "The Triplets of Belleville", have you?

  • @XFanmarX : don't be jealous , Dutch do some good little things sometimes ... tulips and a couple of good cheese . lol

    i'm kidding ;)

  • @Agnostyx13 Yeah, that's probably the best way to respond at his comment. But I'd like to point out that, along with Belgium and France, we are insane comic fans and creators. Animationwise we didn't have that many animations.

  • @dundeecake

...don't reply to other comments I've already dealt with proclaiming me as a troll, how childish.

I'm starting to lose my respect for you, I thought you had some civil response in you but it seems you're just trying to validate your own opinion above trying to understand one another. I don't even have to try to tell you I went trough animation college and now study social psychology, because that would only give you more reason to call on my 'bullshit'

    Have a nice day, kid.

  • @XFanmarX Try looking up Les Triplettes de Belleville". Fantastic.

  • @MsMintyCake We've had that cartoon in the netherlands too, which this guy is from. This person seems to have the slightest knowledge of animation so I guess this is just a 'troll' comment. I did respond seriously though.

  • @XFanmarX Wait what? You are a fellow dutch person and a pony fan -so you must know a little bit about animation- and you come with this most ignorant comment ever? France is one of the greatest places to be for animation and comics. I have seen plenty cartoons from france -which weren't always morally wise 'good'- but the animation was always great. And the comics. Les passagers du vent, Bardin de surrealist, Les Tuniques Bleues and so many more. You should educate yourself before blabbering.

  • @dundeecake

    Sir, you're jumping to conclusions.

I'm educated enough to know that trough the history of animation that a lot of the progressive, and evolutionary stuff came from companies and groups placed in France. However, you should know that these animation groups weren't all French, people from different nationalities got together to make their art there.

Sure a lot of them where French, but that doesn't mean that 'all the best animation comes from France' because that just isn't true.

  • @XFanmarX Most animations have been projects involving different countries yes...but this still does not cover what you have said in your comment. I said France is one of the greatest places to be for animation, not that it holds the best animation. And if it does not have 'the best' it still not 'the least' in any way. You must back up your rather discriminative statement with arguments.

  • @dundeecake

Did I ever said it was the least good? When was I ever discriminating?

I never said such things, all I ever said was that people are idiotic for bombing thumbs up to a guy who says 'Wow the French sure are good at making animation hurhur' even though they are good as any other well known animator/studio.

You're discriminating my open view on the animation world here, you need to go re-read this conversation and stop bothering me with your idiotic conclusions about my personality :/

  • @XFanmarX <- You see this name? That means I am responding. Now look at your comment which caused all this. It doesn't have an '@username'. So how could I know you were responding to someone?

I am not at all discriminating you or your 'open view' (what?), I merely ask you to give arguments. You call that 'idiotic comments'? Oh please, it is you who are in the wrong here.

  • @dundeecake

You're still saying I'm 'wrong' and you're 'right', I think indeed you might have a problem with getting what I'm trying to say here, you're -still- jumping to meaningless conclusions. (not 'comments', as you referred to in your reply)

All I said was that the French aren't good in animation by definition, as most people said such things in the comments.

That's why I referred to your conclusions as idiotic, I don't even disagree with you at all, you just somehow feel that I do. :|

  • @dundeecake

So please, as I said, if you really don't get what I'm trying to say after all this, stop replying because I never even thought such a meaningless 'discussion' would come up. I tend to avoid them because opinions on the internet are worth nothing at all anyway. I personally love every single human but most people tend to confuse my criticism or cynicism with hate or discrimination, as this was a perfect example of.

Really, I'm sure you're a cool guy, but I'm done explaining here.

  • Saw this today at TIFF. Great movie, would see again

  • Isnt Raul the monster?hmm ... nope gues he isnt :)

  • WOW!! :D I've got to learn French, like, NOW. I want to see this movie.

  • looks like something Disney would make :D

  • Is this trailer posted with subtitles somewhere? I know about the English trailer version but this one is edited so nicely and I'd like to know what they're saying. :)

  • @PatchMueller Nevermind, finally found it! :)

  • At last!! I am so looking forward to watch it!!! So good to watch things in their original language, especially in your first language!!! :D

  • Wow... my teacher was right. My French lessons were useful. :P

  • @GoldenGal42

    Lucky -_-

  • @GoldenGal42 they are going to dub it tho =/

  • @hentaimaid Naturally. It is a kids' film. Children's films always get the better dubs - drives me insane. Haha. I'll be waiting for a subbed version. No offense to the English actors, I always want it in its original language: that's how it was meant to be heard.

  • @GoldenGal42 i agree with you completely ...the Dub was terrible lol the two guys have american accents and the girl still has a french accent ...=-= they could of got better voice actors for the Dub as well pretty sure johnny Depp would of jumped at being the monster XD (..heh..pun)

the original is poetry to the ears especially the songs

  • @hentaimaid Aw, that's a shame. Even if I never planned on seeing the dub I would have hoped it would have been good- could have opened it up to a lot more fans. Something obviously went wrong. It shouldn't take three months for a dub to get over from France to the UK.

    *waits for the DVD*

  • @GoldenGal42 Look up the english dub trailer, that was enough to put me off..it might not bother you ..but the singing is different +m+ 's voice is truely beautiful in the french edition but the dub the guy does a great job it just feels...odd?

Its already got a lot of fans ..most people think its a pixar film (its not) but it might work in its favor

  • @hentaimaid It'll bother me. It was meant to be heard in French and that's how I'll hear it. I know what you mean about the odd feeling. Only special dubs don't give me that.

  • @hentaimaid Or somebody could've given ~M~ English lessons.

  • @AlbinoTanuki right....

  • @GoldenGal42 I know what you mean; I usually prefer watching the Subbed version of Studio Ghibli films instead of the dubbed versions (though Its nice just to turn off the sound and watch the pretty animation).

  • @AlbinoTanuki While I have yet to actually enjoy any of Studio Ghibli's works (*gets murdered* - Fireflies was the one exception) I do agree, they have some gorgeous animation... one day they should do a silent film that's just got music. It could work. Haha.

  • My love for this movie can not be put in words. 8D

  • Damn, that's BEAUTIFUL. Maybe I'll now get off my ass and learn French, just so I can watch it in the original language.

  • @Merrypaws Subtitles are your friend.

  • its strange its been made in english then done in french

  • I really wanted to see it subbed, not dubbed... I just heard it's coming in English in some form soon and I hope my tiny opinion helped some how.

  • i kept turning up the volume even though i couldn't understand a word of it anyway.

  • When does it come out in france?

  • That guy looks like David Tennant

  • this reminds me of phantom of the opera!

  • @kikyosan543 Ironic since Lucille's human boyfriend is named Raoul.

  • Two months isn't considered "soon" when you're waiting on a trailer :I

    MUST. SEE. MOVIE.

  • Is that a monkey driving?

  • This actually looks really good, despite the fact that I have no idea what they're saying :)

  • I keep seeing "voices of Catherin O'Hara and Danny Huston."

Is that for an English version or something?

  • @Kyreneth

    Yep.

  • what is the title of the background song

  • @hushsoundsplay I believe it's "Le Seine." Not sure if have it spelled right, but yeah.

  • Oh man this actaully looks very interesting! Can't wait to see more :D

  • So when is it coming out in eng subs? i really want to watch this XD

  • I can't wait for this to come out! I may not be able to understand French, but I'd gladly settle for subtitles at the very least!

  • -M- makes my heart flutter! he needs to be in the english version too

  • Vanessa, M and Gad?! <3

  • That main song they play (La seine) is very, very catchy. I love it. Can't wait to see this. Definitely helps that I understand (an am) French!

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my gawd, I think I figured out half the story already. Franc runs off dejected when he sees Lucielle give a friendly peck on the cheek to Raoul. Raoul and Emile both agree that Lucielle and Franc sound magical together and agree to help find him before the police man does.

As to the ending, the either it will end tragically by someone getting shot or drowning, something stupid. Or it could end awesomely due to the professor and magic concoctions.

  • @ShadowLillium wow! i hope theres a true love happy ending between Francoeur and Lucille.

  • @ShadowLillium Wait till it's out; then we'll see.

  • aaaa this looks so adorable!

  • I have no clue what was being said at all, but it still looks like an amazing movie. Dat singing <3

  • This movie looks cute as hell, and better than anything Disney has come up with in quite a while.

  • @1blatherblather talking about disney, this is actually original, not some old fairy tale that was stolen

  • @Moonlover70 PFT! This is original!? Have you heard of Phantom of the Opera?

  • I.... think I'm in love. =)

  • I must have this.

  • Phantom of the Opera inspired?

  • @dystopiadream

And Beauty and the Beast? :> haha. Together, that would be amazing~

  • @dystopiadream Looks like it, a girl who's depicted as an angel, a monster hiding behind a mask and has mad skillz with a musical instrument, yet I can also see some Beauty and the Beast in this as well :)

  • @dystopiadream I think so and beauty and the beast to

  • Oh my! I love the look at it, I just wish I could speak french >.< I hope it get releast with subtitles!

  • this is a nice twist on the Phantom of the Opera!

  • incroyable. I really cannot wait to see this.

  • When can I give them my money?

  • I have only the vaguest idea of what is going on and no one idea of what is being said, but dammit, I really want to see this movie.

  • Look like a good movie:D

  • OH MAN, PLEASE LET IT COME TO AMERICA!!!

  • Sweet. This looks AWESOME. I wish I knew French. PLEASE be Subtitles or least a translation.

  • I want to see this

  • Utterly enchanted by this!

I don't understand French (the Latin I do know barely helps me), but just from this trailer, I can understand what their intentions of words, their personalities/etc. by their movements alone.

That's just incredible- animated cinema at its greatest and finest! :D

  • I don't care if it's French with English subtitles!!!!! This movie looks FANTASTIC!!!! And the music is smooth and addicting!!!!!! :D

  • I don't think I've been so excited for a movie in such a long time. Francoeur has an absolutely loveable character design.

  • This film looks absolutely lovely.

  • This movie looks wonderful. I hope that if it sees an international release it's subtitled and not dubbed. I've already fallen in love with the way "La Seine" sounds.

  • @liquidjunk2 That's the song that is playing???? I hope the same; I am all for English subtitles!!

  • Damn, the French sure can make quality animated films. Bravo.

  • @tkemert20 Yes. We are making excellent films. It is true that you Americans you make the best films but you are not alone in making a good film. France has a great force of production, but so little French film in America (it's a shame):)

I do not know if you know but we have created the French cinema ( Les Frères Auguste et Louis Lumière) we have created the first film (Une scène au jardin de Roundhay)

  • @tkemert20 not just films check out a show called wakfu

  • @greyknight907 Wakfu = Awesome.

  • @tkemert20

    I dnt agree...

They can make super super cooool animation movies... :)

  • @tkemert20 Holy hell, 111 thumbs up?! :O AWESOME! :D

  • i have no idea what they were saying but i am still in love with this movie!!
