oh and btw the 2ms is not referring to input lag not response time. I still have to see the first monitor that specifies its input lag, because it is frame and resolution dependant. In my tests the NEC is outperforming the iiyama although the NEC is stating 5ms resp. time against the iiyamas 2ms...

in games, its the lag that matters, not the pixel response time

I have just done some extensive testing

CRT is iiyama visionmaster pro 510 22", LCD 1 = NEC EA241WM and LCD 2 was IIYAMA 22" ProLite E2209HDS-B1

the iiyama has an average of 12ms inputlag, the nec performed a little better with average 8ms inputlag.

I have taken about 40 pictures for each test and made averages (not all were readable, about 50% was readable) the tests were done using a splitter cable, not in clone mode.

Input lag =/= response time...

Yours is 8ms response time for the pixels to change from grey-to-grey. Whereas input lag is the delay between the processing of the images from the GPU to them being displayed on the screen.

The dell monitors DO LAG significantly,I have a dell 2408WFP and its a little better than the previous 2407WFP but it still lags alot, gaming on the one sucks, period, ofcourse unless we want to be owned all the time.

I stick to CRT for games when the edge matters. ofcourse playing against someone on a dell, you can beat em hands down with any 2ms TN panel lol

you are full of shit tbone. I game on a 2407 and you can't tell the difference from a fp2001. More than likely you have a shit card. There is no way in hell a human can detect a .01 second lag. Hell, you have built in lag from the bus communicating with the video card.

but it looks like these concepts are too complex for you to grasp, so I have a tip for you: hook up a CRT with a vga splitter next to your slow ass dell and you will get the same laggy result as in the video below

actualy the 2407 has like 40+ms input lag which is alot. on 60 fps that would make for 2-3 frames or worse.

There are reflexes in the human body at less than .01, and while it's true that we can't react that fast i.e. event->reaction we can still synchronize at .01 or feel desynced-ness, i.e. there are music games with 12ms timing windows etc.

Have you compared your CRT and your 2ms panel? I heard a typical (minimum) lag is 16.7ms or 33.3ms (1 or 2 frames at 60hz) and the 2ms is false advertising can someone verify this?

Did you even TRY to move the window while on the DELL screen instead? Its the video card lagging.. NOT the monitor. The video card has to process both sides moving the window on 1 monitor.

you're right zaffle, the A01 was supposed to correct that input lag problem but I haven't found any official nor any posts to confirm that.

I also heard that a A02 revision was available.

Can anybody confirm that the input lag issue has been fixed with the A01 or A02 revision ?

Sigh, I was quite interested in this monitor but not after seeing this. I'm not a massive gamer these days but do like to FPS at times, and that would kill it for me. Looks like the mouse would act somewhat like it was attached via elastic bands to [that which is being controlled].

Even worse is I'm coming of a 21" CRT so the difference would be even more stoopid than that Viewsonic.

i have the 2408wfp, and I have to say it has the nicest display i have ever seen in contrast and color. I have not noticed any lag, i'd like to know which kind of plug his using on both monitors. This is the only monitor i have seen that has a display that seems to be perfectly calibrated from the beginning and a very powerfull display in terms of how bright and dark it goes. I dunno what your talking about with the desig, the sharp monitors have the most un-annoying design there is. :P

No, this is just how S-PVA works. You get good colors for a decent price, but high input lag. Perfect for people who works with photos or just use it as a every day desktop / workstation / .., crappy for FPS gamers. Probably ok for MMORPG and such.

actually the video is showing how a slow monitor like the viewsonic vp2030b is even faster than the dell.

the viewsonic has a 16 ms response time. so the dell would be even slower. very bad for fps games.

yeah very bad in what way? this response time makes no difference in fps because if you have ever pinged a website it takes about 100ms depending on where you live to get to the website and back so your not going to have an advantage if your monitor has a lower response time because its still gunna take about 200ms before you get that head shot and there's 1000 milliseconds. Those who really get into their games don't give a damn about response time as long as the image quality is good.

Is it my eyes or do you have the dreaded red tint on your dell 2408? I ordered the 2408 the day they were officially released and noticed half the screen is brighter and there is a slight red tint, tons of other people have this problem. Not cool for $700

Notice how much brighter the Dell LCD is? With MVA panels the pixel response time rises dramatically with an increase in brightness, so to do a comparison you have to put the monitors at the same brightness...

You should test with 2408WFP as primary monitor for these tests in order to be sure the problem is not the video card.
