The presidency is worth a lot of money to whoever wins it. The clintons have made many millions from their tenancy, and of course the bush backers (oil, halliburton etc) have made a lot more thanks to W. So there is plenty of motivation to get rid of Obama.

It's true that no front-running presidential candidate has been murdered for almost 40 years, but this election is pretty unique.
Normally, all the potential candidates are fully owned and operated by the party machine. This time it's different. Obama is funded by the people. He is not under the control of the machine. (he's "inexperienced", as they say)
He could turn off the money spigot for a lot of people and organizations who have grown accustomed to drinking from the firehose.

State Senators in illinois work part-time, and get a salary of $58,000. Obama worked as a lawyer as his other day job.
As a state senator, Obama did recommend a project on behalf of his client, which could be a conflict of interest. He did not have approval authority to OK the project, however, and it was OK'd in committee. Non-issue.

The context of the joke doesn't clarify whether the motivation to point the gun at Obama is because he opposes NRA or because he his black, although the scene would make it obvious. And, I guess the sensitivity forces many to point in the wring directions.

Huck did not advocate assassination, he made a joke that "Obama dove for the floor" after someone pointed a gun at him. The joke fell flat, it was in bad taste, but he did not say that Obama should be assassinated. Maybe he should offer to take Obama bowling to make up for it.

I want to hear Tucker Carlson announce his "change of opinion" of Huckabee because no matter what Huckabee says he meant by this statement, it shows a very demented thinking process because his words speak for themselves.

Also, not only was the so-called "joke" disgusting, the basic premise is idiotic! What normal person WOULDN'T fall to the floor if someone pointed a gun to them? The NRA should also make a statement against this "joke" because that sort of comment makes them look terrible as well.

I've read the posts in a couple of videos about this subject and it's full of racists calling for Obama to be assassinated! For Huckabee or any other Republican or citizen to make remarks like that is not only crude and inflammatory but CAN insight violence when you think about the racist nuts out there cheering such a remark on. Huckabee should do more than give a luke warm appology.

jponikvar, why would you want Obama killed? How would you benefit from that? You are calling him a traitor with no supporting arguments and facts. Watch your words too. I doubt Obama would be threatened by politicans. A random idiot like jponikavar would be the real threat. However, I think a lot of white people, especially in the South, will not vote for Obama in the general elections. McCain will probadly slide by this time. Oh well, more years of depression and wars.
